Pathaan (2023)
YRF, next time please hire a better director
The only thing this movie proved is Shahrukh is back!
First the good parts: The movie starts well with a kickass background score and while we're at it, the BGM is top notch throughout the movie. Can't say the same about the two unimpressive songs though. John was a suitable villain and his screen presence was amazing. VFX was well done, well.. mostly.
Now the bad parts: The script, of course! This movie had almost all the ingredients to make a perfect masala entertainer it failed terribly with the script. The director seems to be using the same formula as he did in WAR which was not that great a movie to begin with. Also, it would go a long way to make the action scenes more believable. Dialogues are underwhelming with maybe a line or two worth remembering.
Khakee: The Bihar Chapter (2022)
Almost got it right
The main issue with this series is the weak lead actors. They seem to lack conviction especially with the antagonist. But, the supporting actors like Abhimanyu Singh, Ashutosh Rana have done a great job! Others like Ravi Kishan and Vinay Pathak have very little to do. Very few good dialogues and most of them are covered in the trailer.
Cinematography is on point and overall it seems to capture Bihar and its demographic well. The politics could've been captured a little better with the example being movies like Apaharan. The show does get engaging in the latter part of the series and the title theme song is just too good!
RRR (Rise Roar Revolt) (2022)
Old wine served in a new bottle
Bollywood used to make such movies back in 70s and has moved away from such material but such a movie being celebrated now just doesn't make any sense! There's way too many inconsistencies in the story. Having spent all the budget on special effects, the story was probably written by an intern. Coming to the actors, Ramcharan's acting had the subtlety which NTR simply lacked. Supporting actors hardly have any impact and the English, don't even get me started on how stupid they've been made to look. Direction is simply terrible, assuming the avg audience needs to be explained every other scene.
Anek (2022)
Could've been a great movie but..
The movie seems to be confused about what it wants to be. Ayushmann seems unconvincing and Manoj pahwa seems wrongly cast. The movie does have a few good moments but unfortunately all those moments have been covered in the trailer.
Ms. Marvel (2022)
Strictly a kids show, feel free to skip it
Too many loopholes in the script, the Indian music is wrongly placed, no good punchlines, no real character development. Seems like a few Desi actors were added just for marketing purposes. Farhan Akhtar's role could've been played by anyone, Fawad Khan did better in the small screen time he was offered.
