Hogar (2020)
Convert your frustrations onto blaming others
1. Story line: Movie opening might even be interesting at the very beginning, but right after gets tedious and slow-paced. Evil protagonist start dumping his vices onto others, after he is not able to get a new job. Evil for evil. Frustrated, incapable of self-criticism and developing himself, he decides to infiltrate a family home, steal an executive's job, hit on his wife, and disturbing its dynamics.
2. Story unfolding: weak, loose and forcefully exaggerated. Basically relies on messing up a vice-president's life who is recovering from alcohol addiction.
3. Characters: There is basically just one, the protagonist. I would call him "onlygonist".
3. Filmography: Not bad, not memorable.
4. Morals: Movie supports the view that richer are indiscriminately happy and someone who lost his job is always miserable. It sustains that everything is justifiable for climbing social ladder. Shallow. Faible. Lame.
Do not waste 2 hours of your precious life on this. Follow my advice.
Joker (2019)
Centralization of bonus, onus outsourcing
Story line and photography were beautifully orchestrated.
Some brief thoughts on it, because there is not much to say:
1. Yes, the world is harsh and every day is a hardship, a battle. Enemies are everywhere
2. Yes, the system we live in recognizes and reward effort, and the ones willing to differentiate themselves will inevitably stay ahead of us
3. Yes, people are motivated through incentives. Thanks God!
4. Yes, if you want to succeed in life, you have to make your way through it. Nobody will make a way to you, out of thin air
5. Yes, often modern times does look like alienation and a psychedelic trip
6. No, none of the facts above is a legitimate excusable reason to start killing people
7. No, your suffers are neither nobler nor more sovereign than those coming from other people
8. No, blaming culture does not help anyone to male his dreams come to fruition
9. No, the victim doctrine is not the best way to justify being a joke
10. No, no fraud will ever endure
In conclusion, this movie could not be farther from masterpiece. Summarizing, it teaches an absurd message that blaming and violence, despite of the latter being the ultimate form of persuasion, can be reasonable ways to solve somebody's anguishes. It is not. No one will ever strive by doing as such.

Afterall, what is the parasite?
First of all, all this opinions are personal and can only be applicable to this especific movie. From now on, I will open my mind how I perceived the movie and how it touched me, not necessarily being a= universal truth. So, read it with open heart.
Photography of the movie is brilliant, as well as the story line unfolding.
Before jumping into what I think is crucial, I just want to remark some romanticized/false assumptions employed in this movie. Life it is just not like that:
1. rich people is happier than the least well-off
2. richness comes out of nowhere, so those people can party all the time
3. every mechanism is valid to get poorness behind, such as scams or tricks
In the other hand, I wanted to remark some authentic premises:
1. Yes, Richness is loneliness
2. Yes, too much money destroy relationship between people. Capital is a relationship solvent
3. Yes, scarcity does not allow people to reach their potentials
4. No, not all poor man is willing to dedicate himself to honest work, and therefore, avoids the burden it brings as challenges
5. Yes, people established in life do rely on strange arguments, as long as they converge to the "goumetization" of life style
6. Yes, all people want to feel special somehow special
7. Yes, simplicity is key for happiness
Some thoughts on the characters:
1. One family represents scarcity, first two levels of Maslow's pyramid: what caught my attention was that despite of being poor, they were not dumb. The boy could have being a genius of design, the girl a successful artist. Instead they deliberately opted for schemes and dishonesty. They laugh virtually all the time, validating each other's mish-mashes. They struggle together and they are happy to share meals together. Poorness in the movies is always romanticized, put in a box where everything is excusable. To me, what defines poorness is not the lack of resources or money, it is thinking the whole life by half. This means, understanding how the world works, what are the underlying rules and how to fit on the scene.
2. The other family represents richness, the top layer of Maslow's pyramid. They went beyond the average. Abundance, excess, distance amidst family members, the need to seek everything specially tailor-mad for them (what I call GoT "gourmetization-of-things", consumerism. Have you notice how few lines between these characters are there? Compare the number of lines among poor family members vs rich family members. Maybe God lives in what is common, collective. Sometimes I there is a natural, intrinsic trend to attribute to richness what is often there. Let us see why. To provide to the family, the father is almost always away. It is not shown on the movie, although I assure you he has many, many, problems to tackle on a daily basis. Being rich does not happen by accident, it is more like being placed on the top of a pyramid of marbles. As the time goes by, if one is not careful, the marbles start to spread all over the place. It takes a lot of effort to put them organized again. The mother is trying to protect the kids with the weapon she has. Daughter and son seldom touched their parents. There is a hidden cost on the mentioned topics. The cost of absence, which is never depicted in movies.
3. The housekeeper it is a symbol of order. She manages to close some family gaps. Always attentive she keep the ball rolling with excellence. Of course, later on the movie, we realize she is also interested on serving because of a personal condition.
4. The man on the basement, could be seen as ghost and glory. Ghost because of subconscious issues we might carry in life. Glory because he live with little and even though is respectful to those who brings him subsistence.
5. The children, might be seen as the ones suffering the consequences of social contrast. On one side, the overwatch and undercaress. Remember the boy receiving the walkie-talkie? Might be the concrete symbol of father-son distance; on the other side, the being close to their parents, whoa re incapable of showing a constructive trail.
Some other core elements on the story line:
1. The smell: it is a way to show arrogant and pedant rich might be. One of the reasons why the driver stabs the father of a family
2. The special club for VIPs: demonstrates how fragile are the rich family, taking decision on shallow perceptions. Being subject to any kind of narrative
3. The houses represent contrast
4. The stone: symbolizes superstition, something that will not make dreams come true. Also, when analyzed the scene on which the boy is stoned, it denotes the tragedy of poor, how it can come back to those who bet chips at it. The wrong way
5. The booze: a psychological help to make rich life bearable
6. The party: more than being the stage of gore violence, it is a stage where one rich family demonstrates its power (id est status, ego, vanity) to other ones
7. The knives: the killings with knives give a more personal and physical aspect to the attacks, something the guns cannot emphasize. It was necessary to the characters to drown their own hands on the victims and provoke the blood shed
In conclusion, at a first level of reflection, the parasite is the poor family, "invading" the house by applying weapons are sensible to.
On a more deep analysis, and I do not even know if the director intended to do so - that is the beauty of any kind of art -, I think the parasite is the alienation, the way people stop seeing other as human beings. This the major common fact orbiting each and every character. It allows the social shock to occur, it allows the contrast to become laughable, it allows greed to flourish, it allows precocious endings and loss of opportunities.
My Summer of Love (2004)
Beautiful turn around
First of all, this movie is about the power of youth and sensuality, beautifully disclosured alongside the story-line.
Let's start by photography, which in my opinion is one of a kind. Beautiful takes, different closeups, taking us to the attention focus of characters. When it shows us the lips, the hair moving on the wind, it is as if character is paying close attention to it. Pure poetry.
Storyline: Simple yet rich. I felt dragged into the chain of events, because of humanity implied into the movie: Fluidity is perfect. Other remarks: frustration leveraging desire, discovery, sensuality is a common ground amidst characters. It's my obligation to point out that frustration comes from different ways: Mona sees frustration in her family condition and lack of love, whereas Tamsin witness it on tedious overflow of family and resources. As a Schopenhauer fan, I believe happiness is just temporary, happening only during changing states. According to him, it is impossible to be happy constantly: it's like acceleration of a car. (in the opposite way, sadness is like a deceleration of a car). Real joy live in ponderation and good health.
Characters are very different: Mona belongs to a middle-low class, disorganized family, her brother spent some time in jail and now is devoted to, what I would call, "over Christianity", she is so bored living almost alone. Despite of that, she loves to be sensitive and synestesic. Tamsin in the other hand is a typical maniqueist/spoiled girl. Her first clue to what is going to unfold later is the mention of Nietzsche - some people are supposed to be happy and other supposed to suffer. To her, nothing is unattainable. Beauty and money melt together on a irresistible girl. Sex, seduction, intelligence, power and control were employed to dissimulate the entire time. Fantasy is her allied as the same measure it was destructive to Mona. Reality was pretty much shocking to the latter, once truth will have been revealed.
Some final impressions: This movie reminds me of some typical youth behaviors such as: 1) completely personal donation to a cause, in consequently; 2) How passion and innocence are much closer to us when we are young; 3) Power of feminine presence (which I think is one of four powers in this galaxy - curious ones can send me private message to hear about my four-power theory ruling the universe); 4) Constant needy state of masculine existence during adulthood; 5) How "everyday sex" is below expectancy for both men and women; 6) How both poorness and richness take us to a tedious mindset.
Hope you have enjoyed the movie as much as I did. Best regards to all cinephiles friends, Scattolini
The Hours (2002)
Did anyone see the life passing by?
This movie is the most absurd Hollywood crap. Pseudo artistic overrated work. A waste of time. Talents that do not shy, whatsoever. Deep into the emptiness of this movie and a stuck storyline, you will probably find you have spent three hours of your life for no reason. The film is so boring that it seems to go on on slow motion. Nothing happens from the start to the end. Pure bad-taste. Dull. Flat. Shallow. It's nothing more than a bunch of neurotic depressed lesbians, who needed desperately some thyroid hormone reposition. Probably that's the only connection between all of them. I acknowledge people who fight for life, who overcome tough obstacles, who let life flood their minds.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)
Lame from start to the very end
Well, for starters, this is the typical movie I hate. Just went to see it because my wife wanted to.
It depicts what is worst about Hollywood cinema. It is a pretty basic, popular and commercial movie.
Add to this recipe a poor storyline, bad acting and pinches of no fun at all.
The only aspect I've appreciated in this movie is filmography and photography which are both delightful, breathtaking, and ultimately shows why this planet should be explored entirely.
It addresses places that we do not think about visiting very often as Greenland, Iceland and even Afghanistan.
Ben Stiller proved to me at tops an average actor and a worse director, with all respect. Really think he could get back to old funny guy roles, that he had borne.
Do no think about watching this movie if you are into dense story lines and characters progression or evolution.
It is, most of the time, same old blablabla.
A Streetcar Named Desire (1951)
Two hours of pure suffering
This movie probably is the most overrated one I have ever seen in my whole life, after Das Boot. I know, I know, two different styles, but the pretty same bad taste.
A Streetcar Named Desire, has histrionic characters, plain progression, bad sound effects, not the best photography (which explores always shadows in the exactly same way), bad romance, disconnected scenes and at last, poor speeches.
All that Brando does throughout the entire movie is either to shout or say incomprehensible words, as if he had marbles in his mouth. Terrible acting. Stella is a submissive wife and suffocated by the stupidity and aggressiveness of her husband. Blanche, i the other hand, is by far the most complex and convincing character, with some highlights of poetic speeches, philosophy and reflexions. But that is all.
Story telling is sufferable, maybe because I've lost some of the lines (English is not my primary language) and the movie ending is as a bad as its beginning.
If you enjoy black and white movies, watch La Dolce Vitta instead, a Fellini's pearl.
Valmont (1989)
Sovereign
I have just watched the movie. This is absolutely my top one, for so many reasons: storytelling is rich and dense, unforgettable acting, photography is amazing, scenarios are perfectly built, decorated and, at last, its progression is natural. Valmont is one of those movies we could never forget of. Its intrigue and sexual tension between all characters is simply out of this world. People's psychological profiles interaction work out almost as if the movie was a symphony. Innocence-driven decisions dance harmonically with persuasion and inducement capabilities. Well-crafted goals justify almost everything in the search of power, political evidence, social influence and "sexual superiority". Machiavelli would have been envious. All of this, alternated with some moments of great comedy and ease. Besides, when the two strongest characters decide to declare war against each other, Valmont gets even more delicious and delightful. If you are a "cinéphile", you should see it. If you are not, you should do the same. The movie is one of the most touching work-of-arts I have ever been exposed to. Amazing.
Das Boot (1981)
It's claustrophobic, so what?!?!
If you are looking for great movie in any artistic aspect, forget this one! Das boot is tedious. Boring, boring, boring... It looks like the same scene was repeated over and over again. It's almost an eternal déjà vu. Bad taste, awful acting, couple of pseudo-mysterious "visages" filmed and poor storyline. Even if you consider its historic value is unbelievably flat and void. I've already seen thousands of documentaries much more interesting than this movie. Hope I save you the two hours I have wasted. Try something like Inglorious Bastards, Saving Private Ryan, or whatever, because this movie my dear readers, is unbearable. I would rather run endlessly instead of watching it again.
The Big Lebowski (1998)
Neither the best nor the worst.....
Excuse me all of you who loved this movie....I really don't understand what the hype is all about....... I'm sorry but.....allow me pinpoint some aspects.....Is the movie funny? Yeah, a little... it shows a lot of acid humor and sarcasm , which by the way I love....Otherwise, the movie lacks of consistency. or let me say, a spinal cord...it has great specific moments of excellence....although is not enough for pasting all of them into a unique brightness piece..... The storyline in general is poor...in my opinion.....sometimes I felt as if the movie has just stopped..... Look Burn after reading for instance.....it's the most great movie of Coen brothers.....I loved it!!! The main characters are great in The big Lebowski despite of their just passable interaction ....highlighting Jesus, who was by far my favorite character...appealing, flashy, arrogant and clueless at the same time... On the background I've enjoyed the subject, specially the greed, which is continuously at our side all the time.... live, and see how petty and greedy people are.... Bottom line, if you are looking for a deep and dense experience under Coen's label, this is not the right movie, try No place for old country, Fargo or mainly Burn after reading.
3 Idiots (2009)
An "oeuvre d'art"
For starters, every cinephile must watch this movie, it's absolutely mandatory!!!! The movie has great story line, rich in its roots, evolves naturally, showing beautiful landscapes of India. All characters are so dense, so real, so credible, despite of being caricatured....there is a lot of marvelous interactions between them all way down the story...and their interaction onto scenarios are great and constant...that's one thing I could notice it made the movie such a strong production.... The film is funny, genius, superb, surprising, fading from touching moments to challenging scenes, so naturally...... Reamrkable photography as well. It's one of the most exciting movies I've ever seen - is deep, enjoyable and, ultimately, leaves a lesson about what is really important in life.... I recommend the family watch this movies, together...is outrageous!!! It mention taboos, the everyday's strive of families, hopes, dreams, disappointing, love, envy, debauch, etc.... And all this magic moment, start with an aborted airplane take-off......
