John and the Hole (2021)
The comments are made by Dunning-Kruger*
Everyone is so bright and artsy in their comments (both negative and positive) but literally all of you missed the entire point of the movie!
I guess I'll have to spell it out for you.
**SPOILERS**
The Little Girl actually gave it away when her mom asked her if her dream was about Charlie and the Spider and she said "No, it was about John and the Hole." The blue within blue story was reflected the silly tongue twister recited by the family in the hole about blue and black bugs. Do I need to explain further?
The little girl made up this whole story because she was abandoned by her mother - even before her mother actually left. She was psychologically abandoned long before then.
That's why the "John" storyline dialogue was so child-like. The overuse of "Okay" and "I don't know" were from the imagination of a sad and abandoned child who simply does not know.
The abandoned construction site (either with or without hole - we are left to ponder...) was near the Little girl's home, so that's all she knew.
The twist is that the little girl was also a figment of John's mind, so that we have two dimensions of unreality feeding one another in an endless circle of child-like imagination based upon so little life experience. The "Happy Ending" for John's family is the one that the little girl will never know. Her true abandonment is one that John will never know. He is stuck in his "reality," in which people's silence and complicity can be bought with enough money.
Sheesh!
* Dunning-Kruger effect is that the more incompetent someone is the more they overestimate their own talents. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are examples. If you are so inclined, you can substitute the guy you hate here.
Pinocchio (2008)
Wrong actor on IMDB!
IMDB's cast listing is incorrect for this series. Robbie Kay is listed as Pinocchio but he plays another character. Thomas Sangster plays the title role. Kay famously played an evil Peter Pan in the Once Upon a Time franchise, and his image is used on the poster, so hence the confusion, but he plays the humanized puppet's questionable "friend" in this short-lived series. Excellent actor, as is Sangster, and their chemistry is great. A couple of years earlier, Kay would have been an excellent Pinocchio because of his elf-like appearance, and Wilkow knows if he had ever donned the strings a play or two. But not this time.
Out of Time (2021)
Concur with what everyone else wrote but...
... believe all the good comments with a grain of salt (pun & refetence intended!) Ignore those who did not watch to the end.
But now, my pet peeve: Why do they allow or rather direct kids to recite their lines with plastic inflection, sounding like no real kid would ever talk? The little girl reminded me of Cailey Fleming in the last seasons of The Walking Dead. "Look at me, I'M ACTING!"
When I was a casting director, producer, and director, I would have fired any kid who just recited lines like that. It seems they are just content if the kid shows up off book and can say all the words in the right order. No director should allow, much less encourage that nonsense.
But, other than that, it was a decent Indy film and worth your time. The set up for a series is obvious but made it a better ending.
The Last Full Measure (2019)
Getting insignia wrong is lazy, not required
Murphman0526
Your claim that it is illegal to depict military uniforms, insignia, etc. accurately in a film is a myth created by Hollywood, which is simply too lazy and uncaring to get it right.
There is not and never has been such a law or regulation. Please stop spreading nonsense as an excuse for production companies' shoddy research and sloppy costume design.
P.S. I am a retired 30 year Air Force colonel and was an executive producer myself. I know of what I speak from both sides.
The Kids Are Alright (2018)
I don't get all the hate
The show is very charming and funny. The cast is likeable and talented. It's great to see that Michael Cudlitz survived the Lucille beat down from that other show. Jack Gore and Chris Richards play brothers for the second time (Billions in 2016...) and are far and away the best of this ensemble cast.
I was a kid in the 70s and while they don't really nail that era (news flash: neither did "That 70s Show" or any other "period piece"...) it's still a pleasant diversion from the hard core political and liberal preaching and brainwashing that passes for comedy these days. Give it a try.
Lost in Space (2018)
One if these things is not like the others
I just can't get past the idea that there is one black kid (Judy) in an otherwise white Family.
That's taking diversity too far.
The Colonel's Family (2012)
A return to old-fashioned Family Entertainment
Now more than ever, we need a SitCom that the entire family can enjoy. Couple it with a story about the family of a military member, trying to cope with yet another deployment, and it is a perfect story for our times.
Shot entirely in North Texas, this is just the beginning for this show. Taking full advantage of the considerable talents of Dancer/Singer/Musician/Actor Arcadian Broad, Dancer/Actress Teanna Rose, and the formidable Actress Nancy Chartier, this ensemble cast has formed a true family on set and in personal life. Currently being reviewed by talent-seekers in Los Angeles and New York, we are optimistically predicting great things from the humble beginnings of this Pilot.
Please keep this show on your watch-lists and follow it on Facebook and Twitter as well.
