Super Troupers: Thirty Years of ABBA (2004)
ALL 4 were defective
I have rented 4 of this one & ALL 4 were defective - the documentary ABBA story broke-up after 30 min. Any others had similar problems?
I finally found a good DVD of it. It is SUPERB. As good a documentary as possible it appears. Excellent editing & sound. - as advertised "A celebration of ABBA. Featuring live and television performances of the group. The track-listing includes: 'Super Trooper', 'Mamma Mia', 'Eagle', 'Head Over Heels', 'Take A Chance On Me', 'One Man, One Woman', 'Money, Money, Money', 'The Winner Takes It All', 'Happy New Year', 'Knowing Me And Knowing You' and 'Fernando'. - and- "Scandinavian super-group Abba were a cultural phenomenon that swept across international pop music charts, capturing millions in a musical maelstrom. Making Sweden known for more than just meatballs, the beautiful blonde quartet crafted such gems of bubblegum pop songs as "Mamma Mia" "Take a Chance on Me" and "Knowing Me, Knowing You." SUPER TROOPERS offers a diverse amalgam of excellent ABBA footage -- music videos, enthralling interviews with band members Frida and Bjorn, and live performance footage."
Paradise Found (2003)
It inspired me
Can anyone tell me of another film on Gauguin's life? While not as passionate as Lust for Life (van Gogh), I enjoyed seeing Paradise Found, and I saved it & have watched it several times now. I wanted it to go on longer.
In my 30s I painted several oils, & seeing this has inspired me to get out my brushes again. I wish more artists lives were available. William Blake, Turner, and others. PF was made by Australians, & I bet Hollywood would have changed the story line even more.
