Cool
7 January 2006
I throughly enjoyed watching the movie. I liked to hear what other people who are major fans loved about the movie. I also liked listening to the actors who were in the movie and getting their perspective. I appreciate all the time and effort that went into the interviews and the history behind Lord of the Rings and Professor Tolkien. Hearing the history of the books and the way the books have impacted culture was very interesting. Getting past the Monty Pythonesque cartoons at the beginning was amusing but it didn't detract from the overall presentation of the film Thank you to all those who took time and invested in making Ringers. I am a minor Ringer. I don't go to the premiers or dress up for the conventions, but I love the stories and the films. I think this one was up to the Lord of the Rings standard set by Peter Jackson and his crew for the Lord of the Rings films.

Kinda like Police Academy goes to Boot Camp

Warning: Spoilers
This was one of my favorite made for TV movies of the 1980's. The plot revolves around two pranksters who have the choice of going to jail or to military school. The pranks they pull at the beginning of the film, which get them sent to the military school, are priceless. My personal favorite is where they switch the signs on the bathrooms so that a guy inadvertently goes into the girls' bathroom and then has a shocked look on his face. (Incidentally, this scene is my favorite because my cousin was an extra in this movie and he was the one who went into the "ladies room". He said it was actually the teachers' lounge.) Overall, I thought it was incredibly funny.

Not That Bad

Warning: Spoilers
First, let me start by saying I have not seen the play or read the book. I wsa invited by some friends to watch the movie. While it would not have been my first choice, I tend to like comedies or action, I found it very compelling.

"May contain spoilers"

I found the characters, especially Liam Neeson's portrayal of Valjean, to be very good. Since I have not read the book, the love story lines between Valjean and Fantine and Cosette and Marius seemed, to me, to be very touching. I wish they had shown more of the revolutionists to give a better understanding of why they were fighting, but overall it was good too. I give it a 6/10/.
