Head Full of Honey (2018)
This doesn't work
It attempts to be an Ealing comedy whist being serious
It just doesn't work
The cast who try their best with a very lose script that is on one hand schmaltz and the other hand confused
Do their best
But come across as wooden too
Alzheimers is a very difficult subject to cover.
With a rewrite it could work. But the director has focus on what kind of a story to tell
You could have pathos but you also need logos.

The Dead Don't Die (2019)
Odd
I think this film had more potential to make a clever as well as witty statement.
But it died.
The Legend of Barney Thomson (2015)
A cut above the rest
Funny
Clever
Great acting
Great script.
U. K. Comedy at its cutting edge.
Try it. You'll be pieces.
The Angriest Man in Brooklyn (2014)
Life death and moments
A beautiful film.
Made far mor poignant by real life behind the scenes.
The Professor (2018)
Sad. Funny. Very watchable
I would recommend this movie.
It is full of pathos
Depp plays it well
It needs a little work on the script to explore a darker side of the main character
That said, it takes a light hearted approach towards a heavy subject.

A Long Way Down (2014)
Difficult to review
I tried to end my life several times so understand this subject.
In truth the road from that low point isn't always happy for many people the pain goes on
So whilst I commend the idea of hope. It comes with a caveat that hope can be difficult to hold onto and sometimes happy endings don't happen
All we can do keep walking forwards and hope it doesn't lead us to the edge again.
Ideal Home (2018)
Beautiful film
Love it
Really touching.
Made me laugh and cry.
As a grandad who never gets to see my family who cast me away it really resonated with me.
Shirley (2020)
Pretentious twaddle
Literally makes no sense whatsoever
I am giving it two stars only because some of the music was a bit jolly.
Hearts in Atlantis (2001)
Sweet gentle and touching
Lovely film.
Beautifully acted.
Could it have more depth? Maybe. But. Not every movie needs to be heavy.
My Octopus Teacher (2020)
A lesson in life
A wonderful film. That is significantly important for today and tomorrow
Essential viewing.
Beautifully made
Can't commend it enough
Watch this film if you care about our planet.
The Mauritanian (2021)
An incredibly important film
As with so many countries.
Proof that corruption is endemic and goes to the top in the 'land of the free'.
Roald Dahl's Esio Trot (2015)
Beautiful.

A perfect story.
Watch it you won't regret it.
Hope Gap (2019)
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way The time is gone, the song is over
The writer / director clearly has experience of the state death aka divorce.
No funerals. Nothing.
A great film. Well worth watching
My only observation is that in real life, divorce is not clean cut and the rage, guilt and absolute destruction is felt by all.
In this movie there is only subdued rage - which I guess works where marriages are so traditionally British than going against "she who must be obeyed' is a no-no.
But at some point fuses must blow. If not, people would not be human.
I know of lots of divorce counsellors that urge wronged parties to be kind and remain as friends.
Sure that is a logical approach. But in so many cases partners are not logical kind or friendly. Most people hang on to marriage in fear of the unknown. I think that would have been an area worth exploring.
Richard Jewell (2019)
Brilliant
Wow
Another Clint Eastwood classic Beautiful film disturbing
