The Freak Brothers (2020– )

Funnier than I anticipated
6 December 2021
My husband read the comics back in the day and loved them. So when he saw the animated show on Tubi he was thrilled, me not so much. I was afraid it was going to be stupid and I'm not a Davidson fan.

With that said, it's funny as hell IF YOU ENJOY STONER HUMOR. If you do not, don't bother. But if you do watch now! Ms. Haddish as the Cat steals the show. She is side splitting funny. Harrelson is exceptional, Davidson surprised me...maybe because I don't have to look at his ugly face. The weirdest is Goodman. He just sounds wrong. I was hoping for a moon more 'Big Lebowski' type voice.

Succession: Too Much Birthday (2021)
Season 3, Episode 7

The one I've been waiting for
29 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Last week's episode, specifically the foreshadowing statement Tom made to Kendall, at the diner, to paraphrase, 'I've seen this before and you got F'ed. I have never seen Logan get F'ed. ' came to fruition this week. It was super sad and yet I have no sympathy for Kendall. He has learned nothing from the previous attempts to come at Logan. Also, I bet myself Kendall would ugly cry before the end of the episode and I won.

Frankly, I do not know if Kendall will ever realize Logan is fathoms above him in every way and does not give one F what it will take to bring Kendall to his knees. Logan is a stone cold killer and knows exactly how to push anyone's buttons. The cherry on the top, for Logan, being the Slime Puppy delivering it and telling Shiv.

Romulus takes no for an answer no better than Logan and I knew he would get into the tree house one way or another! Gerri will be so proud she may just let him in her bathroom.

Other than that, you go Greg Egg! Comfey is not out of your league! Y'all go eat pizza at California Pizza and be silly. Also, Kendall! Bruh boundaries! Comfrey can go out with whom every she chooses. I also do not believe for one second Kendall ever took a home lunch to school.

Thoroughly enjoyed Conner and Willa. Willa was fighting for her man and it made Con so happy.

Well, they tried
16 October 2021
As another review says, 'chaos'. That sums this series up. Far too many subplots, red herrings, plots holes, characters that do not matter and the fact that the murder in question does not fit the m.o. Of the villian.

Overall I found it to, not only be, tedious but rage inducing. Particularly the way it ended.

Amazing Man, Amazing Story
6 October 2021
Schumacher, nor any documentary, could never cover all the highs and lows of Michael Schumacher one of the very best athletes of all time. I had the pleasure to watch Schumi race and what an athlete he was! There was no one more fierce in F1.

All I can say is have the tissues ready for the last 10 minutes or so. Mick, his son, is simply heartbreaking.

While it only covered a few years, Schumacher did Schumi right.

The White Lotus (2021–2025)

A love/sad relationship
9 August 2021
It's very rare I have mixed feelings about black comedy, satirical tv shows or movies. I typically lean towards love than sad. But The White Lotus threw a left turn I was not expecting.

The first 3 episodes were funny, black comedy, but very funny. Then 4-6 went totally dark, not funny dark either.

Maybe because of the residual feelings after the past couple of years, I got totally bummed out after 5. There was a bit with the guy who created it and he said his goal was to show even when we're on a supposed vacation, real life never goes away. Ok, I buy that but I wish I had known before I got invested in the characters.

Perhaps I want gray comedy, I don't know. But this series ultimately depressed me. There were some character's I really liked and cared about. Especially the staff. I can't say the show has bad acting or writing or even location. It doesn't. But I sure could have done with a little bit lighter series.

The Good and the Better
13 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So my hubbo is a huge Space 2001 fan and this movie kind of reminded me of that one. It's centered around one man, on a long voyage, and instead of the computer going nutsy the man does.

Now I'm biased because I don't go in for movies that don't have much action however the part is if you are an insomniac this will lull you to the sleep of a newborn.

With that said and my feelings towards space movie clear, it's actually not too bad. The lead dude is familiar to me from Rock and Roller, excellent Brit movie and he does a good job of going nutsy without any over the top crapo.

All in all, if your SO is into it and you want some sleep, go for it. On the other hand, it's not awful.

Absolutely amazing
10 June 2021
I went into Peaky Blinders with no expectations. I knew what it was basically about and I had seen Cillian Murphy in Nolan's Batman trilogy.

I have been beyond blown away with every season. It just keeps getting better and better.

And Murphy as Thomas Shelby is simply incredible. If you've ever wondered what Big Dick Energy is all about, just watch Tommy Shelby. BDE radiates off that man.

On the bubble
16 May 2021
I went into the series knowing nothing other than it involved superhero's and what I found was an amalgamation of The Boy's, The Umbrella Academy with a dash of Lost.

The story was interesting enough, but the pace was absolutely painful and, frankly, did not pick up until the last 3 episodes. My other problem was I couldn't get attached to any of the characters. They were all either angsty or annoying. And my final problem was the distraction caused by the janky looking wig they slapped on Duhmel's (?) head.

Quite the downer
20 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Just watched the first episode and my word! I don't think this could be more depressing if the writers used even more depressed tropes. I mean they hit the miserable divorcee living with her miserable mother and miserable daughter. Shoot the entire family likes the, formerly, miserable ex.

Winslet, as always, was excellent playing a very, very unlikable character.

I like dark shows/movies but this was over the top depressing with a plot that fails to hook you.

What a ride!
6 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
We have been watching a lot of the forgein mystery dramas on Netflix recently, they have all been very good and this was no exception. The plot is very good, it's well written and the actors are good too. My favorite part are all of the unexpected twists! Just when you think it's going one way or goes another! As is typical for the forgein shows of this type, there is an an environmental aspect and I'm ok with that. There were two things which didn't add much to the story though. The first was just how many characters are in it. I had a hard time keeping track of them all. The second is, while I like the Captain (major with subtitles), she is one of the worst mothers ever. She's second only to Brianna Barksdale and Namond's mother on The Wire. The overall story would have never missed this woman's child. But those aren't reasons to not watch this. It's good, it moves at a nice pace and it will keep you on the edge of your chair!

Cursed (2020)

Very entertaining
16 January 2021
I really enjoyed this show. It's a light, interesting take on the Legend of King Arthur. There is a lot of action, decent production value, good acting. I was familiar enough with the Legend but not to the point where I even recognized them. I totally recommend this show as a decent, entertaining, just long enough series. I have to admit the biggest hurdle is getting through the first episode, it's a touch slow.

Wonder Woman 1984 sums up 2020
27 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I have been looking forward to this sequel since the Wonder Woman reboot. I was a huge Lynda Carter fan back in the day and was hesitant when the reboot came out. But wow, it was amazing! Gal Gadot was the perfect fit, Chris Pine...what can I say. The story was pure WW, there was action, enough backstory. So naturally I was thrilled about WW1984. Perhaps the delays due to Covid overwhelmed the production, I don't know. But WW84 was a mess from the get go. I cannot image what Patty Jenkins was thinking. She did such a wonderful job before. This time we get 2.5 hrs of WTF. Where was the action? Where was the plot? Where was the charm? Who actually thought Kristin Wiig would be a decent villian? Is the Golden Lasso the only weapon left? Why did we have to waste over an hour on NOTHING? And why was the Big Bad so, so easy to defeat? I swear to Sweet Baby Jesus I never thought there could be a worse comic book movie than Halle Berry's Catwoman but I was wrong.

Supernatural: Dog Dean Afternoon (2013)
Season 9, Episode 5

A nice change of pace
6 August 2020
I love this episode because it is hilarious! After such a long stretch of death and destruction Dog Dean Afternoon is a nice change of pace. It's especially great to see Ackles play comedy as he does it so well. Jarrod turns in a solid performance as usual and plays off Ackles so well. The story itself certainly has taken a few things from Hannibal and twisted then around. It's ok. But I have it a 10 because it's funny, not as funny as some, but funny.

Kudos Sterling K. Brown !
16 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So I'm on about my millionth rewatch of Supernatural as it's my favorite show ever and I am so ashamed. I always enjoyed the hunter Gordon Walker, Sterling K. Brown, but for some reason tonight it got me just how good he was. Gordon was the first person to confront Dean with the fact of just how much he enjoys killing. And Dean is quite surprised and in denial. Their scenes together were intense. Gordon was fierce and only saw Sam as a monster. Since Dean is emotionally involved, he doesn't want to acknowledge Gordon is correct about how similar they are. I'm not saying Dean should ever kill Sammy, I just think Gordon was excellent with Dean. The way that episode ended was awesome too. As was Gordon's part in "Bad Day at Black Rock"!

Poster family for eugenics
11 April 2020
This movie just pissed me off for so many reasons. Generational government fraud, a general lack of any formal education, and a lack of any moral compass makes this family not only disgusting but sad as well This behavior and outlook shown in this movie occurring in a contemporary, civilized country offers little hope. Overall a very sad, hopeless movie.

Solid entertainment
1 March 2020
I was a devoted Hart to Hart fan when they first aired. I was about 13 years old and thought Jonathan and Jennifer were just about the most glamorous and fabulous couple. Recently I found it again on the Hallmark Mystery Channel and out is just a delight! Stephanie Powers, Robert Wagner and Lionel Sanders made a powerhouse team. Yes, the plots were over the top but they were always entertaining. The main thing was it was so easy to get emotionally invested in not only the Hart's but the chauffeur and even Freeway, their dog. Of course, it would be impossible to have this type of show today and that's a shame. These type shows provided a nice, easy and enjoyable 47minute vacation from whatever you may be facing and I am so glad to be able to watch them again!

Love the concept
31 January 2020
Chop Chop Ching has a great premise! The story itself is so hilariously ridiculous, you're like haha....woah yeah I could believe this. I especially appreciated the use of Callaway Gardens since I'm from Alabama. I also have to give a shout out to the sheer volume and variety of media used to tell the story. The effort put into that aspect of the film deserves the 5 stars. However, the assembly of that material was dismal. I get choppy editing is a useful effect and it would have been ok had it been used in moderation. But the continual chopping combined with all the fading in and out montages, it just got too busy. Very distracting. I also feel that of the "found footage" feel the interviews had was weak. Those should have been more structured. All I all, a good story with ham handed execution.

Dennis Vincent is a dedicated man
26 January 2020
Rage of the Mummy is, at best, a movie honoring this classic genre. Vincent obviously loves these movies and kudos to him for creating this labor of love. With that said, the budget was minuscule and it shows. Also, I am always wary when the same person directs, writes, acts and produces a movie not necessarily due to budget restrictions, think Tarantino, but because that is a sign of no compromise. Compounding this is that Vincent has 10! additional credits, 10! Collaboration would have helped in this case. Overall, I really liked the movie. It certainly kept my attention. The animated transition pieces were an innovative way to tell big chunks of story. They were just clumsy looking, the composition was just off. The acting as expected but the sound was terrible. The makeup laughable...I could go on. But the one thing that was over the top awful is, unfortunately, central to the entire move. The damn Mummy costume was atrocious. What kind of mummy is wrapped in a 2 piece set? And how do wrapped strips end up as BAGGY and ill fitting it looks like the Mummy lost a lot of weight and needs a tailor! And boots! On this costume issue, I must point out that a zipper is visible down the back of the Mummy in the original so I realize the difficulty but it at least it was one piece!

Warning: Spoilers
I am a proud fan of The Asylum however this is a terrible movie by their standards. It's not even a funny bad fur the most part. Except for the footage of a drone which they pretend is an aircraft, that is hilarious. Tbh I thought the worst movie The Asylum put out was whatever the rip off of Speed Racer was, then I saw this!

Monsters exist
8 December 2019
I have watched an incredibly high number of true crime related material. Hours and hours. But I have never seen such depraved, disturbing, incomprehensible people as the humans, I cannot even imagine calling them people, in this documentary. Despite being a believer in the law, every single human who in this documentary, directly or by association, should be jailed. I'm not sure that jail isn't too good for this lot of despicable humans. The ones who knew of the situation and did nothing are as guilty for not even attempting to do anything to help. I actually could not finish this due to the depravity.

Ready 2 Die (2014)
4/10
Not bad and unintentionally funny
8 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Ready 2 Die is a gang/heist movie in which the heist goes horribly awry. Mix in car chases, beefs with various gangs and a few nostalgic flash backs and you've got Ready 2 Die. For a movie from The Asylum is fairly good. Vastly different from all other The Asylum movies I've seen due to the amount of graphic violence, language and sex scenes in it. Despite that it's typical fair for the studio in terms of production value, acting and dialog. The special effect make up was next level terrible. Facial wounds looked like they were made of play dough by a 7 year old and adhered to the face with tape. I would not mention it specifically if they weren't so clearly visible from about 10 minutes in. A special shout out to the hilariously fake beard one guy sports. But the absolute pinnacle is the man explaining disability benefits to his son.

Incredible
7 December 2019
There is one reason why I find this film incredible and deserving of a 10 is the fact that the footage of the battle is real. How Ford was able to use so many cameras in different places is beyond me. I feel all 5 directors, Ford, Huston, Capra, Wyler and Stevens captured the facts of war flawlessly given the circumstances. Five Came Back is a fantastic series on this subject.
