The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Lana knew what she was doing. Bravo!!!
WARNING, POSSIBLE SPOILER AHEAD.
I'm picturing WB telling Lana Wachowski they want a new Matrix movie, she thinks it's a bad idea, she reads the script and it's crap. Well, Lana decided to take this bowl of crap, pour some more crap on top, and add a scene at the beginning saying that this is dedicated to everyone who loves to eat crap. And I applaud her for that.
This movie is what happens and suits overcome artistic integrity. The only thing that saves it is the Meta approach at the beginning but, Lana could only do so much. If she would've had her way, this would have been a far better movie about how broken the entertainment industry ls.
Niñas mal (2007)
I had more fun, making fun at the movie in the theater!...
Completely filled with clichés. It's not a bad movie; it's just that it could have been way lot better. When i first saw the teaser poster, i thought it was going to bee a raunchy movie about girls doing really nasty stuff since, that's the new fashion in Mexican movie-making: profanity, sex and drugs (it only lacked the drugs element, and that's good, since it's intended for +15 year old girls). Boy was i disappointed; since it doesn't even feel like a romantic comedy; nor a comedy per se: Lame plot, bad jokes, predictable characters, and as always, it doesn't reflect the real Mexican society at it's full...
Again, It's not a bad movie, the photography is decent, and after all Camila Sodi looks beautiful, and you get to see Martha Higareda's Bossoms, from time to time, and Blanca Guerra's still as sexy as when she played "La Bronca".
I recommend watching this film on rental, to really get your money's worth; go see another movie... Maybe Kilometro 31.
Así del precipicio (2006)
I thought i wouldn't... but i liked it
Yes, it has cheesy acting, most of the actors came from TV. Yes, it has a lot of cursing, drugs and sex scenes, Nobody said it was a fairy tail. Yes, the dialog is not that good, but not everybody in Mexico talks the same way. Yes, they used controversy to promote it, What about "y tu mama tambien"...? Which personally, i thought really stinks! Yes, it's the director's first film, everybody deserves a break. Yes, it's financed by the government, i'd rather see an entertaining movie, than to see a politician on TV getting drunk on my money and making a fool out of him(or her)self.
I'm not saying it's the greatest movie ever made, but i enjoyed it; flaws and all... I didn't leave the theater feeling like i've been cheated. And i know who to recommend it to...
And that's my two cents.
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Living Legend (2006)
An instant classic
This is by far, one of the best CSI episodes, along with the "Tarantino Episode" and the "Paul Milander" serial. I don't know; There's just something about this episode that makes you feel like you're in a movie theater watching those old gangster crime dramas, where you just can't help feel sorry for the "bad guy", but you feel even more satisfied not just for the fact that they caught him; but how they did it. And the soundtrack was excellent.
Another thing i liked from this episode was the fact that we get to see a teenage Catherine Willows, and her brief involvement with Micky Dunn, with those '70s clothes. Ican't help but repeating the word "EXCELLENT"
La marca del zorrillo (1950)
Simply the best slapstick from the Gran pachuco
By far, my favorite Tin Tan Movie. And Silvia Pinal, Enchanting and beautiful. i only wish this movie could've been a little longer.
TinTan plays double roles; the "bisconde" (wich is a merge of two words meaning "cross-eyed" count) and his son a "prince" who turns out to be a complete wimp that gets robed of his clothes in his homecoming trip. Since the Governor Marcelo wants to take over the old "bisconde's" hacienda, Tin Tan feels the urge to protect him, but can't, since he can't even get a hold of a sword without losing it on the first strike.
When he's taken to the dungeons as prisoner, he becomes aware of an old witch who's being tortured, and helps her escape; as a token of gratefulness, she gives him an "magical" ointment that smells really bad (actually, like a skunk, that's why he's called "Zorrilo")but will turn him into the ultimate swashbuckler.
With the help of Beautiful Lupita (Pinal) he will confront the governors soldiers and try to rescue his father, who's also captive for not telling the military where his son is hiding (and they torture him in the most ridiculous way, it's so funny).
That's all that i can say about that. A silly, but very entertaining movie that i never get tired of watching.
Black and White (2001)
Comedic improv at it´s best
Black and white started off as an interview show a little more than two years ago, but lately, it became the sleeper comedy hit of mexican cable television. Omar, a college graduate with a mayor in enterprise administration takes a mayor turn in his life and teams up with his friends to create a local tv show called "Los visitors", when the show got canceled, Omar takes Mexico city by surprise when he´s given the chance to co-host black and white, later becoming the anchor host, he re-teams with Federico "perico" Padilla and "Rafita" Valderrama to give the show a new spin, with new characters, more interaction with the audience, and lots of laughs... and it´s all live.
