Blown Away (2019)
Love this show. Season 2 is more "polished"
Love this show. I knew nothing about glass blowing. Season One was great. But Season 2 is even better. We get a lot of nice vignettes showing the artists working. More interesting techniques and on-screen definitions are a great help to learn more. Lots of fun and some beautiful work!
The Undoing: The Undoing (2020)
Nearly perfect opening episode
A tremendous opening episode. Everything is firing on all cylinders-acting, directing, writing, scoring... A slow build that never feels contrived. Credit all involved for accomplishing the very difficult feat of somehow blending happiness with an undercurrent of foreboding. Kidman and Grant have been friends for decades and that chemistry is evident on screen. I cannot wait for the next episode to see where it will take us.
Castle Rock: Romans (2018)
Quintessential King
Last ep. of Season 1. LOTS of negative reviews. But to me, it was the bloody icing on the cake. Quintessential Stephen King. The finale left questions to a lot of viewers. But if you follow the story and the religious connotations, and know King, you will LOVE what I feel was just a whisper of ambiguity
Vivarium (2019)
A familiar theme that leads nowhere
Ugh. What were Jesse Eisenberg and Imogen Poots thinking taking this movie? A free trip of England for Eisenberg? A favor to a friend from Poots? A film that covers the "anonymity of suburban life" and may have had some traction 30 years ago. In "Vivarium" the stale theme sadly gets no new life.
The film has both the audience and the film's "characters" (might as well just call them Male & Female as they are simply props/cookie cutter characters) running around in familiar "Twilight Zone" fable that literally leads nowhere. The big reveal? There never is one. Just a pretentious filmmaker in love with a dated concept and little more than a few numbingly interesting effects, which also never lead anywhere. Don't bother.

Devs: Episode #1.7 (2020)
Cause and effect
Cause and effect. Watching the astounding DEVS. First 3 eps are kind of a slog, BUT, as you'll learn later, that's kind of the point. The show exponentially ramps up from there. If you geek out to Alex Garland, quantum theories, the many world theory, quantum computing, and some damn fine acting, writing, directing, visuals, AND a kick-ass audio track and soundtrack? Well, you need to WATCH THIS ONE.
