Terzi (2023)
Classic yet so captivating! just watch it.
I found Cagatay Ulusoy and his works in the quarantine time and since then i became a huge fan of his work so i've been waiting for this show since it was announced and finally after some obstacles it got released on Netflix.
The base of the story is classic but still it feels fresh and enjoying. The pacing of the show was so good yet i craved for 1 or 2 more eps. But i know there are 2 more seasons since they shot all 3 seasons together.
The performances were so great. Everyone suited their characters perfectly fine. Cagatay Ulusoy once again created a character with multiple layers. Peyami's public persona in contrast with his private persona. He seems a confident man in public eyes but a fragile personality inside with trauma which the main reason is hiding and running away from his father's condition and keeping that secret has a toll on him. And Also he learning to play "Turkish Ney" needs another round of applause.
In other hand, we have Olgun Simsek who plays Peyami's father, Mustafa. He was amazing. His performace was so sincere that you would care about Mustafa.
It was the first time i saw Salih Bademci and Sifanur Gul and both just delivered so well. I already heard great things about Salih but Sifanur got the role after 2 known female actresses who withdraw from the project for their own personal reasons. This role was meant to be played by Sifanur. The innocence that she brought to the character yet showing a fierce side of Esvet made you care so much and her harmony with Cagatay was perfect for you to care about the fate of that couple.
Music, Cinematography, Cem Karci's Directing all were great.
Can't wait for next 2 seasons and recommend it to ppl to watch it.
The Gray Man (2022)
Sit and Enjoy the run! in this case the actions.
The Movie delivers on what it is. The story is not unique but it works in the universe it's creating. Faaar better than other Netflix movies like 6Underground and Red Notice. For fans of the action, and thriller genre it has some elements familiar to Faceoff, MI, WAR (a Bollywood action movie) even the kid and the six's bond kinda reminded me of Leon. The cinematography and color grading was another awesome element of the movie and Ryan Gosling just showed he can also be a full action star. Chris Evans's Lloyd is just a sociopath and you can tell Chris enjoyed playing such a character. Ana De Armas was also awesome. She had some of the coolest fight scenes. If you want to make a blockbuster you should get Russo Brothers.
Heels (2021)
A Great Show for everyone.
Just watched the finale and wow, what a finale.
This show has been great since episode1. Michael Waldron wrote colorful and complex characters that you can't just side with one character. Yes maybe i'm Team Jack because i love Stephen Amell, lol but each character has a story.
The cast has been great. An award worthy ensemble cast.
Peter Segal's directing was great and the music! Heels has one of the best music out there.
Everyone who hasn't seen it or is hesitant should binge-watch it.
Yesilçam (2021)
"I make a movie that heals patients"
After 4 episodes, i can tell the show is well crafted on every aspects. Script, acting, directing, camera, costumes,... BluTV is really good at bringing big names to its platform by choosing interesting scripts. Last year watched Aleph starring Kenan Imirazalioglu and enjoyed it.
First 5 minutes of the show was enough for me to buy this story and be invested in Semih Ates's story. The script along with Cagatay Ulusoy's amazing performance as well as other actors in that 5 minutes is enough for everyone to be interested in Semih's story. Levent Cantak and Volkan Sumbul clearly worked hard on the script.
The pacing is good so far. (they announced it has 2 seasons, each 10 episodes)
all characters especially 3 main characters Semih, Mine and Tulin are layered and each episode they reveal more of them.
The show is drama but it doesn't lack of good comical moments. Characters like Vehbi, Hakan, Advieh bring some comical moment which are really well crafted in the story and they don't feel out of place.
Cagan Irmak is really good at bringing the vibe of 60s, 70s. Before Yesilcam i watched My Grandfather's People and that movie increased my expectations and so far i'm enjoying the show so much.
The whole cast are exactly where they should be. No one is out of place. Performances are very good and on point.
Yesilcam just like what Semih said, "I make a movie that heals patients", brings good time to its viewers by telling a beautiful story about Golden days of Turkish Cinema in 60s and 70s.
Tenet (2020)
watching it once was enough!
I love Nolan's work but this movie probably was his weakest movie. The movie is not as complex as it wants to be. It bored me most of the time. Even the revelation at the end didn't excite me to go back and rewatch everything that happened.
Kagittan Hayatlar (2021)
you want a reason to watch it: Cagatay Ulusoy's performance
"I have an objection to my cruel destiny"*
The movie delivers on its promises. it's what it says so I felt satisfied by what I've got (I can even say it was better than what I expected because Netflix only released 1 trailer and that's it so wasn't sure what to expect.). story gives you a glimpse of what it's like to be a street kid and the dreams that may never come true. but if I wanna give anyone a specific reason to watch this movie is Cagatay Ulusoy's top-notch performance. his performance as Mehmet is so natural that you feel like Mehmet is a real person. you see nothing of handsome cagatay ulusoy. he shows Mehmet's happiness, sadness, illness, rage, trauma perfectly well. his body language is amazing. (I hope his performance gets recognized at awards season.) the rest of the cast plays their parts very well too. The cinematography is really good. the coloring is good. music could be better, but it still works. and Can Ulkay' did a great job as the director. I suggest everyone to watch it. sometimes you need to take the sadness, to see others' misery to think about the gifts you have in life and taking care of them and helping others in misery to maybe get a glimpse of happiness too.
*part of the song, "Itirazim Var (i have an objection) by Müslüm Gürses", played in the movie which literally sums up the story of Mehmet and other street kids.
Ezel (2009)
Phenomenal! Highly Recommended!
Literally THE BEST Turkish show ever and one of the very top TV shows in the world. i haven't seen many Turkish series but i don't think anything can top this. if this show was in US or was shown from one of the famous network channels in US it would be nominated for Emmys and Gloden Globes. the story is amazing, the script is written very well, performances are Incredible. Kenan Imirzalioglu KILLED it. he shows Ezel's strength and vulnerability amazingly. he switches very well between emotions. he is just simply great. it was the first time i saw Cansu Dere's acting, so to me she worked. it took her some time at the start but she got the character. she looks cold but when you see her eyes and smile everyone wants to explore her and know her. Ali, Cengiz, Dayi, Kenan, Azad, Tefo and etc all are amazing characters and played very well by their actors. they chose all actors very well. the cinematography and scenery is amazing. it's not just for show off (like you see typically in many Turkish TV shows which they want show luxury stuff) but here if you see fancy places, clothes, accessories, cars it's for creating the world of the story. money is a key in this story. the betrayal happened for money. the music is phenomenal. one of the bests in the world. Toygar Isikli made an amazing score for this show which it wouldn't be complete without it.
At the end, if during this pandemic you are not watching this show what else you wanna watch?
