Automaton Transfusion (2006)
Birdemic with out a plot...
I am no Zombie movie expert but I am a video production tech and a writer. What this movie lacked is style it more than lacked in character definition and depth. Not only did I not care about them I was unmoved when they died. Nothing new or original and in fact I felt like I was watching a poorly made spoof of a zombie flick. The acting was sub par for a High School hygiene video and the single note dialog was worse than being drunk dialed by an old math teacher from my past. The token black dude was cliché and the so called Army hobo General was sad and insulting to the viewer. No pay off with a ridiculous ending. About the ending did they know everyone just got bored and walked out so they ended it that way as well? This may just be the movie that signals the end of the genre. Unlike others I will not list the plot holes and continuity gaffs as the are far to blatant and numerous. Blame the military and claim a secret experiment is the cause goes beyond redundant and unimaginative.Did some ones grandma finance this steaming pile of cabbage?
Wasting Away (2007)
The Freshest Story EVER!!!
I am so sick of seeing the same tried and worn out story lines in Zombie movies. This movie is a much needed kick in the head to all movie writers. Stop feeding us the same old garbage.
From the beginning this movie is sharp, funny original and far better then 90% of the low budget Zombie flicks I watch. Kitty Go Boom is the best line in Years. No reliance on flashy effects or over shocking blood and guts. This movie moves on the story and character development.
I now feel bad for all those Zombies I cheered being killed in the thousands of movies I wasted my time watching before this one.
Zombies need love to.
Sniper: Reloaded (2011)
Sniper Unloaded
Did no one ask what happened to Thomas Beckett? Did he die in 1-3 and I missed it? The weapons handling made even the actors playing Marines look like insane gang members! Billy Zane was OK and his character well aged. The plot was full of holes, like where was all the com gear on the initial mission? No medics? Why would the Plantation Owner agree to leave given what was still in the home? In an age of wars around the world how can a war movie be so lacking in realistic portrayals of those that wage war? The brief and unneeded love seen was well.. sad. Also please note..the shot through the scope thing is not only OLD it is not possible with the scope used in the movie....The hint at a new series of movies caused me to rise from my recliner and yell at my wife's dog! A major in a dress navy uniform? He tells the investigation panel he slept with an officer on the panel? As a Vet and avid shooter this movie offended and disgusted me. Please make no more if this is the best effort possible. May I recommend perhaps a Sniper TV show with Billy Zane and a monkey side kick instead?
Paul (2011)
Had me until the anti Christian sub theme blasted through
Why go out of your way to slam My system of Faith? I was laughing and enjoying the film while tolerating the vile language then I was kicked in the face.
First, the story line is fresh funny and well executed. The sodomite overtone joke was a bit much as well. Frost and Pegg have done well in prior efforts so I suspected similar results. The buddy film formula with latent homosexual overtones seems to be working for them. The Comic Con scenes captured the real feeling of such nerd fests. The MIBS were well acted and deserve a spin off.....The Cameo of Mr, Big was nice as well as the call backs to other Sci Fi hits. All was great but for the overt attack on Jesus Christ.......sadly I may avoid future efforts by this duo based on this tragic flaw marring PAUL.......
I never expected the Sound of Music but such a vile attack and ambush style of in your face insult was a nasty surprise.
My major test is as follows Did I get my monies worth? Was I entertained? Does having watched this movie made me feel like a better person after having watched it?
Worth the price of the ticket. I did laugh and the story was fresh and funny. I left feeling angry and cheated by the subplot and may never watch another product by these two atheist funny men....
Over the Edge (1979)
I was an extra in this film...
John Evens Jr. High School in Greeley Colorado had a casting call prior to the filming for extras. If I remember right we got 25 dollars for each days work and we got fed.
Greeley was pretty much the perfect place for this movie. There was a huge teen violence problem there. even at age 12 I carried a pistol and roamed the city at will with other kids fearing attack from gangs of older teens. Drugs were everywhere.
The movie captured all that stupidity plus the Apathy and ignorance of the adults. I loved the scenes where we rioted in the Circus tent styled John Evens Jr. High School......made it hard to attend class the following year.
History has proved that the film makers knew what kind of society America would become...Cookie cutter homes, strip malls and teen murderers......Art predicts life.
Birdemic: Shock and Terror (2010)
Was this thing made by retarded school children?
The audio sucks, camera work is erratic, dialog is painfully delivered. Script must have been written in crayon. Establishing shots held way way way too long. Action starts way way too late. Foley is sad, CGI is hilarious.....
Were they trying to kill the art of film? The lack of acting skill reminds me of a 3rd grade Christmas play.
By FAR the worst movie EVER.
Even the Rifftrax version was hard to watch....
The only believable actor was the little girl. What is with the fully auto M-16? None of the people in the other cars seem to notice the attacking birds.
THIS MOVIE SUCKS!!!
