The Disappearance of Shere Hite (2023)
A Must See
This riveting documentary is a must see for everyone that is a human sexual being. It chronicles the rise, fall, and banishment, of author and sex researcher Shere Hite, and delves into her writing "The Hite Report" study of female sexuality, and eventually male sexuality. We follow the author as she faced backlash from men, who were uncomfortable with the truths that she discovered, as well as religious zealots who opposed anything but the men-first orthodoxy. It shows us a woman embroiled in a culture.war unfortunately nor too different from what we see today. The voice of Shere Hite, who passed away in 2020, is narrated by Dakota Johnson who deftly brings the author's words to life again.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Strange New Worlds (2022)
Strong start for a Star Trek series
Strong start for a Star Trek series.. The show has everything that it takes to be a good Star Trek series: from an engaging cast to an episodic format that will not get bogged down with the type of storylines that have been in other modern Trek. The first episode was quite reminiscent of the original series as well as some of the other subsequent series.
Dreadnought Dominion (2015)
Senior Citizen Star Trek
The acting is hit or miss. The music, sounds, and sets are original Star Trek accurate. The main thing I struggle with in watching this is that most of the cast seems to be over 40 years of age. Could they not have gotten few at least half of the actors to be younger persons. I know how hard this is sometimes as a load to no budget film maker but really just looks like Star Trek for senior citizens and that's sad because the stories have seem to be décent.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Fun Romp About The Choices We Make In Life
Evelyn, is a Chinese-American owner of a failing laundromat, who lives in a tiny attached apartment. She is pulled into a multi-universal conflict where she summons her talents from roads not taken. This is a fun romp all about the choices we make and family.
Station Eleven (2021)
Don't Believe the Low Reviews
Repairs of the show is going to be a slow burn and that characters are being flushed out more with the different timelines that are part of the show. I think that it's has given us enough of a base to understand what is going on, and I disagree with many of the low ratings that have been given to the show. It is slow at times but we are learning about the characters, and their individual experiences, and the twists and turns their lives took.
Star Trek: Lower Decks: Second Contact (2020)
Fun Start for Star Trek Comedy
It was a fun start with a good cast and we were introduced to some of the main characters that we are going to see the season. The show felt humorous while still sticking to Star Trek conventions. I am looking forward to the rest of the season.
Awake (2012)
Have Been Waiting for This One
Finally we get to see the long awaited pilot of Awake. I loved Jason Isaacs in "The State Within" so I was looking forward to this show. As the tortured main character, Detective Michael Britten, Isaacs is up to the task to show the pain and joy that he experience when going between both worlds, one where his wife survived a crash and his son died and the other where the son survived and his wife died. I enjoyed the back and forth between the two therapists in both worlds, each seemingly trying to convince him that their world was the real one, and the way the criminal cases he investigated unfolded. I'm looking very forward to more of this show!
