50/50 (2011)
Notable efforts from a cast (and Seth Rogen)
What I enjoy about 50/50 is that it isn't too far fetched from regular life under these circumstances. A 27 y/o gets a rare cancer that is not commonly diagnosed or beaten, meets with a young and attractive therapist (which is convenient for us and plot development), has a protective mother, and a Seth Rogen-type friend.
Everything that Adam does in this movie is based upon these characters, who all act very stereotypically towards a guy with cancer. His mother gets regresses to when she was a primary caretaker. After the breakup with his girl friend, Kyle takes Adam under his wing through marijuana and sex. He tries to push Adam even farther away from his now- ex by convincing him to be carefree about her, and even disrespecting her a little bit. Bros before hoes.
Something my teacher brought up is that therapists are not allowed to touch a client without permission. Anna Kendrick at this time does not abide by this, being she's only 24 and still inexperienced. Although it's valid to say that this is unrealistic of a therapist to stray from this ethic, it's also valid to remember she is still kinda new. With only 3 patients and still in training, she's a rookie. It's just that humanly error and convenient characteristic for plot development that makes this movie more heartfelt.
Adam is pretty likable as the main character of this movie. The guy gets a threatening cancer diagnosis at a young age where it's very likely he'll die. What happens to him are plausible events, minus going out to get laid. I understand that people tend to pity someone who suffers, but would a girl really have a stand with a cancer patient? I just don't see that happening. His whole conflict with his girlfriend, plausible to display of character. You can't expect a loved one to not feel struck with so much stress during the time. It takes a strong woman like his mother to take care of someone with such a physical or mental disease.
With all that said, I've become a much bigger fan of Joseph Gordon Levitt and Anna Kendrick. The first time I really watched anything of Levitt in depth was 10 things I hate about you. What I learned is that he was a child actor as well. He has really come such a long way since then, as he actually turned out to be a respectable actor. And now I can't stop obsessing over Anna Kendrick. She has the confidence of Tina Fey without being over the top and obnoxious like some other characters, plus charm and beauty. I love the ending as well; the interaction that we've seen from them, you just want to smile every scene. I know I did, how they were always so awkward with one another until they call.
The music chosen and played for this movie is pretty good too as it helps define the mood. I don't think any songs were produced a few years within this movie, and if there are then they certainly aren't mainstream songs that are used like they are today. There also are some songs not included in the soundtrack that are subtle and delicate, but add to then moment when no one is talking. The use of guitar solos in some scenes is very original compared to rap.
I could easily watch this movie repeatedly because of everything about it. The real, yet fun, scenarios make this one of the cast's finer works. Often I find myself searching for certain clips of this movie, because it was so enjoyable to watch. Another Kendrick or Levitt movie is next on my list, considering how great this one was.
Teen Titans (2003)
One of THE BEST Cartoon Network series
It's hard to give a kids' show 10/10. Why? Because its generally made for kids; that's the logic. However, this show isn't just for kids, as I realized when it aired, just as I do now watching online.
The show can get goofy at times revolving around the green character, but the rest can be just as serious as any other superhero show. Teen Titans is similar to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (No, not the original series, and DEFINITELY NOT like the 2012 version. The series that aired in 2003, ironically the same year Titans was made). Similar animation style, villains, fighting, more comedy, but no little romance. Titans doesn't throw the love in your face, but when it does, you feel the full force of it. These characters have little to hate about them, so its really hard to not want to see them together.
Now to get to the main theme of this show; the action sequences. Titans is a cartoon and there are brief times when you are able to see the cartoonish style of attacks. It's not as drastic as Tom and Jerry where if a character got flattened, they'd continue to walk flat until springing back to normal. The use of cartoon fun is meant to add to the show, something that Batman and Green Lantern shows lack because they are deep and dark. Titans has both those aspects to it at times, but still doesn't lose sight of who the intended audience is; kids. And like I said before, the cartoon animations are only brief, and do not make you feel like you're watching something along the lines of Spongebob.
With that said, I loved how much this show's softer moments relate to viewers. Batman= dark, drastic, hero. Iron Man= billionaire, genius. Teen titans= heroes who STILL have to struggle with their hormones and personalities as teenagers. Some of the issues that they face are topics that we discuss still to this day. And what gets me is how moving some of the dialogue exchanges during these scenes are. Soon after a few episodes a viewer is already growing on their characters.
Let's not forget the caliber cast assembled to play these heroes. I'm very satisfied with the choices for each character on this show, especially the main ones. Tara Strong, Hynden Walch, and Greg Cipes always find their way into cartoons, and I was so glad to see them take on a show that is more susceptible to be eaten up by more keen critics. Ron Perlman and Ashley Johnson also have reputable resumes (Hellboy and The Last of Us, respectively). Many people might've gotten sick of Spongebob's voice, but it's much more difficult to hate on voice actors like these guys.
I just wish this show was much longer than 65 episodes, because the series was and still is in a higher league. Such a shame though that this show was "revived" with Teen Titans Go, because that show is 50 notches under par compared to this show, even if it is for younger children.
Unfriended (2014)
I Know What You Did Last Summer, really slowly
Just watched it with my friends. Wasn't as scary as I thought it'd be. Mostly every scary event was from the trailer. The movie is more suspense and freak than actual gore or scare. And the scares that do take place are shown for like a frame for multiple times before you get that the person is dead. The plot was easy to follow, and each plot twist was easily understood, but there isn't much that makes this movie stand out. I also found that the scenes were dragged out much longer than what'd be OK. I understand that people will take time to figure out what to truly say during online chat, but really. Read a little fast people. Btw, you don't ever see the face of the being/monster/person/thing that makes this horror movie, which is a little saddening. But I guess that'd take away from the modern feel of the movie. Don't cyberbully....
Definitely would not want to watch this again, if this was one of few movies being aired
Godzilla (2014)
Must've been before the events of Pacific Rim...
In my head I was CONSTANTLY thinking of Jaegers and Kaijus from Pacific Rim... Cmon, where's Gypsy Danger at? BLOW THIS .... UP
To anyone who at least knows the previous Godzilla, it was just that one berserk lizard roaming around, and the government has to killer her, similar to Cloverfield, without the amateur recording with a shoe. Godzilla is more than just "blowing up a rampant, giant monster", but I will not explain why that is, as that would ruin your excitement firsthand if not already spoiled. There is a small plot twist that makes the movie more clear for people trying to understand what has happened.
This movie actually has a main character, who is a Lieutenant... He doesn't have a giant megazord or robot to battle Godzilla, he doesn't heat-ray vision or super-strength. His father has just studied Godzilla and any related events after her first appearance, and that is the only reason why this soldier is important. Otherwise, he is just any other soldier who must survive to get back to his family. Then again, I don't really know how well you can focus on an average person with a plot like this if he isn't really important to begin after the story unravels anyway.
If you're into giant monsters and Michael Bay Bewms, then watch this modern version of Godzilla
The Sandlot 2 (2005)
Eh, just Eh....
I watched the original Sandlot on ABC family for the first time, and I loved it. Reminded me of the little rascals and potty-mouth 5th grade Rugrats. This one, waaaaaay to identical to the first sandlot. Some similarities are fine, but I mean you could write a five page essay on the SAME features of story. The rival team, the scary dog, the new and better sneakers, "Smalls", the planned kiss, the carnival, the fat catcher, the retrieval plans, the hot day and pool time, etc.... I prefer sequels to movies that are either a continuation of the prev story with many of the same characters, or a prelude to the original story. If a reboot/remake is made, it better be muuuuuuuuuuuch better.
However, I do like that this version is a bit more diverse. It's different that this time 3 girls are added into the Sandlot mix, even if they don't focus on the baseball aspect of this movie that much. Bringing a deaf kid certainly is different, though it doesn't add much. Where David says he has to retrieve the ... from the beast, it reveals back story as to why he actually has to do it, something I don't recall the first movie doing.
Otherwise this movie gets a quarter of a thumb up....
Pacific Rim (2013)
MUCH better than Power Rangers and Transformers
How many of you remember, "WE NEED DINOSAUR POWER NOW"? Ah, that and the recent Transformer movies. Rather than just A lot of explosions and teenagers running like chicken ......, you get more of the idea that these are manmade military megazords.
First, I think I can speak for most people when I say that the fight scenes are "booking dot" great. The amount of detail in the movements and in the scenery is a sight to see. I mean honestly, there isn't a clear use of military guns and tanks that we've all seen before; its all replaced with giant robot fighting that is pretty much new to us.
The story? Like all in your face, big bang movies, I do feel it is a little lacking. But...I didn't really need much of a story because I was so glued to the screen.
The idea of the whole movie is where I must applaud. Parts of this movie are so well thought out and original its not seen very often. The idea of using 2 pilots to command a robot, now that I think isn't that original...But the idea of neurology, the design of the whole movie, using weaponry different than some grenades and just some bullets....and the way everything looks in the end.
I can say that this is going to be a movie I will be eagerly looking for online and on HBO, as this is literally the best giant robot, giant monster, military, fighting movie EVER MADE
Power Rangers Samurai (2011)
Not as good as I remember
I grew up with power rangers. Halloween, the MMPR switch helmet to head action figures, the DVD's. After Jetix was canceled, I didn't often watch power rangers unless someone posted a season online. For me Power Rangers was good until Overdrive, with the team-up as an exception. I've seen a good portion of the whole MMPR saga, so I can understand why there are so many similarities to the original.
Since this was going to be the first time on Nick, and the first power rangers show in a while, many things were kept same. At first I hated it so much, until I thought to lay off a bit. The theme; another rock based song with much guitar and GO-GO POWER RANGERS. While A LOT of people find this a cop out, its supposed to bring back to the good ol' days. Of course, BULK AND SKULL's nephew or something like that ARE BACK. But by now, Bulk should be in his 30's, 40's. I kind of liked when the two numbskulls were always playing Sherlock finding out who the rangers were in High School. He's not an idiot anymore, and he is not fighting the minions like in Zeo and in Space... He's changed, but still has some features of the original.
Now the show on its own...I do like that the actors themselves do have a bit more screen time to create more of a plot for the episode. I'll be honest it isn't that bad for some. Pinkie sounds like she's being like that red head from that Victorious show at times when she's unmorphed, like she's trying to create that voice. Yellow Ranger completely sounds fake. Sounds like she's trying even more than the pink ranger to have a fake voice and sound like an idiot. The red ranger is whom I have the biggest problem with. He just sounds so boring and monotone. Kind of like Vypra from Lightspeed, there is no energy in either of their voices. There it is, my attack, nuff said.
The effects are much worse than that of power rangers Ninja Storm and Time Force when they could run at fast speeds and animate monster attacks. It just looks ridiculous now as there seems to be more animation for the attacks as they get blown away real quickly.
The zords, look stupid. but somewhat make sense. Half resembles the appropriate animal, half resembles their symbol. Since these rangers' theme are Samurai and since Samurai are from Japan and since the rangers do emphasize the use of "symbol power", Japanese Characters, Why not have their symbols on their zords and helmets?
While not being the same as what I remember from being a kid, there are some good that has been done, some. Can't say I'd want to watch the who season online, but did feel like running onto ceilings as if I was 7 years old again. I'd rather stick with earlier works.
Lightspeed, Timeforce, and Ninjastorm FTW
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005)
Fun movie
If you think you are going to get a lot of explosions like in some kind of Michael Bay movie then you are wrong. Nobody goes Rambo either. While the summary of the movie might not sound that great, the movie gets better. It is similar to the life of a regular couple, but just much more...engaging. They have a nice dinner with wine and bread (Coinsidence?), while being more than careless with the knives. They eat breakfast, but with shattered glasses and whatever wasn't destroyed from gunfire. They have their fair share of fights, that just involves guns and more knives and fists and nut-shots.
I'm one who likes a good fire fight and fancy smancy words that "Secret...Agent Man" uses, but I honestly watch this movie to watch the movie because of humor. At times they do act lovingly to each other, when one isn't trying to shoot the other. You can just feel the fun that these two are having. And then there are some scenes with vince Vaughn that do create a smile.
Would recommend if in need of a decent laugh.
The Naked Brothers Band (2007)
To start: Who the hell are these kids again?
Never saw the premier, only happened to see this show once because nothing else was on.
A couple of kids playing instruments have their own show...Nothing sounds interesting. The one episode I saw there was a relationship between two of the cast members. Can someone PLEASE explain a few kids who have no talent and nothing special have their own show? It seemed to be a mix of kardashian crap and a music video. Listened to one of this band's songs online, was nothing special as nothing was anything worth mentioning
Can't go into detail about the show cuz I've never cared to fully watch an episode, but am just glad its over.
Catch 21 (2008)
Carlton? After all these years in the closet?
I do like game shows to a certain extent when it involves trivia. Swearing a bunch in Jeopardy, guessing on Millionaire, but I don't like game shows that involve luck and risk. At that point it isn't about how smart you are anymore, but how much you're willing to gamble.
This show seemed entertaining at first, although after watching did seem pretty slow watching a chick flip cards and figuring out what 17+5 equals... This was a VERY original concept from word associations and hardcore trivia, but the idea dies out after a while.
Now for the reason most of us are here.......... I had just started to watch The Fresh Prince starting from ep 1 tonight, already on ep 8. It's good to see the little dark guy got some screen time in something I've watched after Prince. Funny and somewhat queer, Carlton grew on me. Didn't exactly bring all the humor over from the 90's but gave the show some time to last a week
Sanjay and Craig (2013)
Different than other shows?
I've been in the mood to watch a new cartoon show for a while. Neutron only had 3 or 4 seasons and Fairly Odd Parents portrayed characters and scenes that were funny, but overall too stupid. I watched Adventure time for a while, but lost interest as there wasn't as much humor as the childish child-shows.
I can't exactly say that this show is the funniest out there either, but that is probably because it is a cartoon that does try to be somewhat more realistic. Instead of having a piano smash on someone's head or having a person's body split in half, the most that happens to them is a punch or a kick, which does make sense if they appear completely fine in the next few frames.
One thing that I do have trouble understanding: DO PEOPLE KNOW THE SNAKE TALKS??? Its obvious the little Middle Eastern-Whitey can understand the snake, but then the blonde girl can understand him too. But the father acts like he doesn't even know that the snake can speak English. In future episodes, it is shown wearing a cap and a shirt, BUT YET ONLY ONE PERSON ACKNOWLEDGES THAT HE HAS NO ARMS? Is it everyday in this town that people see a green kid with a tail, no arms or legs, and a really long neck? Aside from that though the show is good for an older age group that is not into Bleach, Barney, or Adult Videos
Pleasure Spa (2013)
I'm tired of the movies with the SAME cast
I'm not that fond of Pnos with very, very sunukar cast members from like 8 other movies. Christine Nguyen, Voodoo, Nicole Sheridan, Beverly Lynn, Evan Stone, Syren. There was a time around 2005 when these same people would appear in every stupid themed movie over and over again. Ghost movies, movies involving space and aliens, movies where people have sex in unusual places.
Now, we have a new set of familiar faces. Brandin Rackley, Frankie Cullen, Heather Vandeven, Rebecca Love, (apparently) Cindy Lucas, Jayden Cole, bug-eyed Melissa Jacobs. If you have a favorite among these stars than it is OK, but it gets boresome to watch the same cast because you know what they look like during...There are the stupid 'themed' movies, and then there are the realistic movies that are more dramatic and could pass for a regular movie if didn't involve intercourse, but a very crappy movie. Along with the recycled actors and actresses comes the recycled songs that are used, P.. P.. Bang Bang, I want your love, some sax music, other.
I myself HATE Cindy Lucas because of how old she looks and people still get turned on for the beach balls she has implanted on her chest. Then there is Melissa Jacobs whom I refer to as Bug Eyes. The first movie I saw of her, Dark Fantasies, she actually looked attractive. Now that I can clearly see her face, DAYUM HER EYES ARE HUGE.
The only thing I do like about the movie is Raven Alexis. She is a fresh face and very attractive. I won't go into details about what she's like cause you can look that up by yourself. You're better off spending the time watching your favorite star on P...hub
Furious 6 (2013)
Not as bad as you people think.
I almost laugh at commenters who give this movie 1 Star. One person referred to people as "morons", one said that having a seemingly dead character dead wasn't original, and another didn't even see 3,4,5. Went to go see the movie last night and it seemed to be much better than 5 in my opinion.
Similar to Fast 5, The Team(Diesel, Walker, Luda, Gibson, Kang, Gadot, and Rock) is back, excluding the other two guys. While amnesia is not the most clever and original idea out there, it is not something seen in most films and gives writers a reason for Diesel to take the job. If it were any other criminal, Diesel would probably refuse. The amount of destruction, the customized drag racing cars, the fights, it just goes to show how much The Fast series has evolved.
Fast 5 did have the rest of the cast helping out in the mission, but it was just some small stuff. Undercover work, opening safe, helping during the chase. Really, the everyone else wasn't that significant to the mission. This time, EVERYONE has a major part in this. You have Gadot with gun, Kang and Gibson get their ***es whooped and help more during the tank chase, Rocky is seen beside Diesel, and then there's Ludicrous standing on the sidelines. The members of the team seem more important this time around.
What some people do complain about, and I understand, is that this movie is less about Fast Driving and more about fighting. I get it; its easy to feel this way. While very slightly sad about that, 6 seems to have much more comedy and humoric jokes. They might mostly revolve around Tyrese Gibson, but nonetheless the jokes are still funny. Taking snacks out of the vending machine, foul mouth during the tank scene, the grappling hook, BIG FOREHEAD. So while less about the fast street racing like in the original, it has added a few more jokes and fighting which isn't that much worse.
What does impress me most is the progression of the Fast Movies. First the main ant was an Asian gang with Uzi's and motorcycles. 2 was a white guy with 2 Spanish henchmen, 3 was a Japanese teenager, 4 was(I actually never fully saw 4. lol), 5 was a corrupt Spanish police force, and this time involved guys from the same breed. As mentioned, these are not cops, these are the best criminals in Europe; they are fast and deadly. They have their own set of custom cars that are faster to begin with and have ramps on their hood. They have advanced and modified weapons like the chips. Last importantly, "They Got a Tank". The series went from something as small and minor as guys on motorcycles to extreme drivers with a tank and drag cars.
I do honestly enjoy this movie much more than 5, though watching this in a theater did hurt my eyes from all of the explosions and bright lights. The engagement of supporting characters is a good feature for the first time also, along with the twist near end. Can't wait until this comes out on DVD
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012)
Why all the hate? Never payed attention during History class?
I actually thought this movie was an exciting backstory of President Lincoln. It is a very original concept making a president centuries ago a superhero. Important parts are also highlighted from Civil War textbooks also which is very educational for 2nd graders to see.
The story is similar to that of Blade. What I do like about Lincoln though is that all he has is an axe of silver and his friend firing silver bullets. Lincoln is also not enabled with special abilities as he is "only human" and the vampires here can disappear. Blade was made by Marvel to be the action packed Buffy with a guy shooting guns without even looking at his targets and has super endurance and strength. Our hero is first introduced by the teacher and becomes pro after his first few battles. He then avenges his mother and goes for the real villain. Lincoln finds out about his mentor's past, gets a friend's help in his battles and is taught of isolation. What makes this interesting is that the creators of this movie made it as realistic to this time period as possible. It makes the Civil War Era more fascinating to watch.
I do love the historical references. The Underground Railroad, the death of his child, and the ride to the theater at the end.
The vampire cannot kill vampires thing is a bit of a joke for me since Blade is so accomplished. Then again it makes it that much more of a challenge knowing that an ordinary human must be trained diligently to defeat even one vampire with something like an axe.
The fight scenes are pretty appealing for me. The constant slow-mo and twirling of an axe just makes you want to do the same.
If you go on Watch32.com, you can watch the movie for free without downloading. I saw Lincoln on here since I was too lazy to pay 10 bucks for a ticket. I'm not lying. No viruses and has decent quality. Be sure to check out because I'll go and watch Lincoln again
Chernobyl Diaries (2012)
Hell No
I've seen this movie maybe 3 times total, maybe 4. I am not impressed with this what I saw. If you think, people visiting a god-forsaken radioactive power plant could have potential. In high radiation areas, it can cause very negative side effects, and this is briefly shown near end as the last two people become slightly blind. But from spending a few days wandering a town that was claimed to be less radioactive than previous times, it is sad that only now the effects kick in.
Anways acting isn't Robert De Niero quality. There is not anything engaging about the characters as little is known about them. The only sort of relationship is when one proposes to a girl when they're about to die and two guys are brothers.
The setting seems credible. Abandoned buildings and ash everywhere. Open doors and bleak appeal.
There were some frights in this movie, but it is mainly only because of scenery and suspense. The people in this movie for the most part are not really shown a gruesome death or even shown a death. They are mostly dragged away or just vanish and appear later dead. The hallway, car scene involving the dogs, the 3 people in the building looking for Uri, and the whole time looking for the guy's brother are where some jumpy parts are, but nothing that will scar you for the night.
The one thing I do not understand at all is, what the hell are the actual threat here? In the credits, I saw "Humanoid", not joking. There are ravenous dogs, apparently "Ukraine Thugs", and something else? Are they supposed to be zombies? Radioactive corpses similar to those in 28 days later? There is a scene with that "Little Girl" that just stands there as blondie #1 gets dragged to her death, but then the girl disappears in like 2 or 3 seconds on a somewhat wide street? When the hat guy dies, the monsters are almost like zombies moving in slow numbers, but at times seem to move at a slower than human average pace. I can not clearly determine what is mainly killing the American tourists.
The only thing I was pleased with was the ending. I was so relieved to see that they all died, and boom, credits. This movie was not worth the time watching.
Men in Black³ (2012)
Dayum...THE MIIIB...Dayum
I did not see Men in Black 3 on the day of the premier. Actually just saw on HBO recently. The lively Will "oooo" Smith and the old prune K, TML, present a fine ending to the MIB story line.
In the beginning, I remembered why the MIB movies are amusing to watch. K, J, alien hunting! Alien hunting! However, I am not impressed with the excessive amount of swearing this time. I can understand a man like Smith saying Dayum quite often, but the S word is unnecessary. I was not impressed when I saw Little Fockers for it had ruined my point of view. The amount of inappropriate language and sexual references was a turn off. I thought this when watching MIB, but it became less apparent as the story progressed. Not very pleased with the language, but story made up for it. Something else I must point out is how friggin awesome these two are. These two killed more than multiple aliens in one scene, and are able to kill an alien similar to a mutant in X men Last Stand. The final fight scene is pretty cool.
I was a little confused when watching this movie because of time travel. if there is one thing I have trouble understanding, it is time travel. How one little cause changes the course of history or when you go into the past, it could be the past when you went back in time. So the past you are in predicts your arrival. Anyways, it is a little awkward that an alien agency has a time machine. Giant Proton blasters and jet cars? Maybe. Just my idea.
The story is what probably made us all attracted. Don't we all just love watching movies of the protagonist changing history and ending up making it the way it was originally? I love this because I just say to myself, "Tell them the full truth you idiot! Tell him you are apart of a top secret alien agency and that you are from the future trying to prevent an alien from altering history and you are here to stop him!" Maybe not that for every movie, but I always want them to be dead honest. J and K back together again-but younger-horay! The story is actually engaging to watch as we see what life was like decades ago.
What made the last third of the movie an eye-popper was that it is mentioned that someone must die. To anyone who thinks single handedly, your jaw drops to the floor. Either time can remain the same, or J must die to ensure the peace of the galaxy. When I heard this, just, wow. Very powerful thought, but the near ending was much, more sad.
Comedy and action are moderate this time. A fight scene in the beginning as mentioned, and the final battle are really the one action this time, plus also a vehicle chase and a few other chase scenes on foot. The humor is just at eh. The little hobbit wearing a hat can be funny in his first appearance and watching the 1-and a half duo back together brings some laughs, but not as many as the first movie.
The acting is great this time. There is no hot villainess to subtract from evil (sorry Mr. PP, maybe next time) which makes the few fights that much better and you really get the idea of how the past K and J's relationship is as a stranger is trying to trust another stranger. The hotshot Kyle Reese-like-hero, the older teacher, the dangerous alien, and the oracle hobbit make the movie the way it is. Not a bad thing though, for I did enjoy the movie.
The ending is probably the most grand of the movie though. It starts off somewhat sad, but then another twist in the story appears as a familiar face is introduced. Won't say who cuz someone probably has and the scene is on you-tube.
I would watch again. While there is no talking pug and the worms have little part, MIB still has the exciting agent bounty hunters as before and do not reduce the experience with the edition of a new actor. I am waiting for the next time the Men in Black will appear again on HBO.
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004)
We're all Goofy Goobers yeah.
I literally grew up watching sponge-bob. By the time I can even remember watching the show, it was only airing its first two seasons on channel 300 of Direct TV. When the movie did release in theaters, my mother had taken my two friends and I to see the movie, as we were only in 2nd or 3rd grade. If you are a fan of sponge-bob, you are a fan of the movie. If you don't watch sponge-bob often, you might still enjoy the movie.
The movie starts off with ACTUAL actors, similar to Patchy the Pirate. Guys dressed in silly pirate clothing talking about sponge-bob, and their singing of the S.B. theme isn't that go on youtube and type "Spongebob musical pirates". (uploaded by movie scenes) The whole movie contains actual celebrities we know, and many of them. Scarlett Johansen, Alec Baldwin, and the shirtless Baywatch star, The HOFF. Just read IMDb's list of the cast for everyone else. This movie is a big step forward because they mix the animated characters talking and moving, with shots of actual places like a real beach. It is like making Transformers look like they are blowing up buildings. In live shooting, you don't actually see the transformers.
The movie's plot is very different from a regular episode as it seems to flow and you really do see the hardships and evil scheme unravel to the end. Spongebob goes on a quest to save Mr. Krabs' life and to return king Neptune's crown. As the movie goes on, Spongebob tries to prove to himself and to everyone that he isn't some kid and is capable of doing such a dangerous mission.
The graphics are improved than the series at the time. In the first ten minutes, Mr. Krabs is more of a deep reddish color, patrick's pants can sometimes be more of a pure green and purple at times, plankton is more dark green than that sorta color he is. What I will add is that this movie doesn't do anything too realistic. I mean that in the series, a person will get burnt to a charcoal or look different than they do in one scene, and in another scene look perfectly fine. Everything that happens to the characters isn't THAT childish and cartoonish.
While I have grown up and watch little cartoons now a days as a freshman, this movie does provide some humor more appealing than a regular episode.
I do say, the S.B. movie is definitely something to watch when you are ALONE with nothing to do. Just don't let your friends know you watch this movie cuz I'm sure you'll never hear the end of it
The Last Airbender (2010)
Interesting to see childhood show, but sad wiht some results
Well, I'm sure most of us are thinking the hell with this movie. I myself didn't find the movie that great, but it is a pg movie on an action show.
I was confused with the characters, mainly because they were mostly Indian descent and the one who plays Katara isn't that attractive. The Indian part was explained by Shymalan because some of the terms in the series like Agni Kai is a hinduism term in a way, and I forgot the other terms, but the show does revolve around some of India's heritage. It was a little disappointing to see the main actor in Slumdog Millionaire in this movie, because of the many flaws in it. Apparently, they also do put emphasis on the pronounciation of names. In the prologue, Katara says avatar like the O in olive. Ovatar. Iroh's name is is pronounced like Eeroh. This doesn't bother me that much though so moving on.
The effects? Sadly, they look silly. The fire moves slow and the water they bend doesn't appear to move with much pressue. There is a clip on youtube of the village people "earthbending" a rock.....Oh god. "Why the last Airbender movie sucks" find and watch it. However I will say this. The movie at times does remind me a little of the lord of the rings. The first scene of the N Water tribe looks like something you'd see from the trilogy. Maybe it is just me, but I just thought I should mention it.
The movie did revolve around the main parts of the first season which is a good thing. It did leave out Suki, Jet, Boomi, and of course THE CABBAGE MAN (I could be wrong), but it must leave out these fillers for the important parts in an hour and a half, or they'd just make a reboot TV show of better effects with actual people. The bits used are reasonable important to the plot of the movie Something else I thought interesting was that firebenders fire mainly comes from a torch or somewhere that already includes fire. In the show, firebenders can create fire from their hands. Here, they must use a lit fire source like water and earth benders.
Anyways, the movie was unimpressive to the eye or mind. If your kid likes the show, then let them watch this, otherwise steer clear.

Kidô Senshi Gundam 00 (2007)
Great show, but sad it ended so soon
I was able to find this show online, and its a very interesting anime, better than dragon ball z which is just a bunch of fighting, but even that isn't terrible, and yugioh which just is about some crazy people who think cards will bring about the end of the world. Gundam 00 revolves around the twistedness in the world, our world, just a few hundred years in the future of transformers, clones, and zords. Since it is about war, there are many characters deaths, antagonists and protagonists, not mentioning who though.
The main point of the show takes place in the future where the people there have built giant robotic suits capable of making some transformers cower in fear. It is kinda like voltron force. Anyway, the world is twisted and these people called Celestial Being are trying to rid the world of hate and terrorism with their methods. It does seem a little hypocritical, but it is understood later on that their mission is true in a way, that the world is corrupt. It is also mentioned plenty of times that one of the pilots a part of Celestial Being was a child soldier for a terrorism group at one point, so knowing that does add to his character. Each of the main protagonists apart of whole organization do state their reasons for fighting. One is to avenge the death of his family from terrorists, another is to find out who he is. I'm intrigued how the show progresses. It does make me want to dump on a video of star trek and give it the finger by how much better the series is.
Morals of the series include much, much of how you can and can't purify a world from hate, but also love is a visible thing in this show. At times, its clear that some characters do show feelings for each other, and what does make the show more special is the sort of West Side Story drama between two characters, and the death of another lover.
Then there are scenes of scrap metal flying and explosions in just about every episode for those who are interested in that kind of stuff. It is definitely pleasing to the action fans. Boom, Bam, Boom.
As you might know already, the original show is all Japanese, which was translated and voiced over to make this American, much like power rangers. The intro and the ending, as well as some names of places that appear on the bottom of the screen like svu. Since I bring up the intro, most of them are pretty good, since there are only 4 throughout the series. The first is kinda does seem fitting for a show like this, serious, not really crazy rock or too energetic. The second is more energetic and does include more rock. The third is my favorite, but not really the most suitable for the show. Then the last is my least favorite, just sounds weird. the order of themes are Daybreak's Bell, Ash like snow, Hakanaku mo towa no kanashi, and i don't know the last theme.
Overall, the show is something interesting to watch in spare time. It's a good show that makes you ask what you're supposed to watch next.
SpongeBob SquarePants (1999)
An original piece of American culture.
Honestly, who else here grew up watching the sponge? The first episode is just as old as I am. 10 seasons... Thats about twice as long as successful shows, 3 times than the average. I myself don't know what is about Spongebob that has made it grow so large, but it has become recognizable to almost literally everybody. There has been talk in my school that the newer ones aren't as good as the original. I myself am a real critic seeing how some crazy things could happen like a fire underwater, or how a crab feels pain from being slapped when he has a shell, or how you could be burnt to a crisp or beaten up in one scene and be perfectly fine in the next, and of course how stupid some of the characters can be at times, but the show does have its good points that makes it more popular than other cartoons airing.
Mystery Diners (2011)
A waste of time I could be watching something about food
This show at first seemed new, until I saw that Restaurant Stakeout already aired before this. Mystery diners is no different in ANY way.I do not find watching cameras on people doing stupid stuff amusing. There is Restaurant Impossible which isn't that relevant to food network since it is more of an HGTV show, but there at least is some cooking involved. Restaurant Stakeout isn't interesting, except for the fact that he is a very successful restaurateur. What I find worse is that all of this is fake. The people are just actors. To think that directors and producers could've made something new and interesting... Hmmm. Guess not The FOOD network should be about FOOD.
Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue (2000)
My favorite season despite some flaws
I remember watching the Curse of the Cobra VCR tape of the Titanium Ranger when I was 7 years old. I'd watch that tape of about 80 minutes total for weeks, so I already had a connection to the show.
To all of those out there who are not fond of the actual morphed scenes, be aware that every American Power Rangers show WAS and still IS taken from the Japanese original version , and just adding the American actors and voices.
The rangers to me are OK. Its not quite the same as the first "group of teenagers with attitude", but they all have some personality. Carter being the real leader of course, chad being the cool and somewhat shy guy, Joel is overconfident in himself and almost obnoxious how self indulged he is, then Kelsy is the fun adventurous daredevil, and then Dana is just, eh. She doesn't really get much notice except for two eps. I myself am disappointed with the Titanium ranger's absence, but if you actually learned why he left, which some people aren't aware of, he left for a good cause. I lasted not seeing him in the team up.
The music is a favorite of mine. Not exactly from the singing, but the instrumental music is just great. It really fits with the military feel of the show with a strong brass, suspended cymbal., timpani and snare in some pieces. You can actually find the full eps on youtube. Just put in, PRLR EP___(ep of your choice). I'd suggest the second episode called Lightspeed Teamwork because it has the most of the season's score used throughout the show in just one episode.
Then there are the whole concept of the show. I know one review said that it didn't have any powers... Of course there were no actual magic super powers. The whole season is based around a military operation made to serve and protect the public, like SWAT or FBI. The morphers and zords aren't made from some wizards, they are actually made from scientists. I'm sorry, but I think it'd be weird for a special forces group to be using giant colored robotic animals to be defending a city in the 21 century. Most of the rangers aren't trained in martial arts or some performing arts, so the whole Lightspeed scientists are constantly making new technology like the V-Lancers and the Battle Boosters. This and SPD are not seasons to be expecting magic.
The demons I do agree with everybody else. Vypra is just so boring of a villain it sounds like me on a Saturday morning. Honesly, why does a demon in kinky, ish attire have a car with a laser machine gun on top? One guy said that two villains are ugly and scary? I'm sorry but that just shows how little intelligence he has of the show. The villains shown are from footage of the original Jap rangers. The only time when footage was "MADE IN America " was when the rangers fought unmorphed, which didn't happen often, or anything including the Titanium Ranger since he wasn't included in Japan. Besides, the monsters are demons... They aren't going to be a transformed version of a pink purse or some kind of pig that gobbles up food... Demons are supposed to make you feel scared. They are more scary and destructive than Pudgy the Pig , who pretty much only ate food. Kids are watching the show because they enjoy the action. If they don't want to see scary monsters, they wont. The ghouls in the team up did scare me for a while, but its supposed to scare me.
The show's powerful plots did have more of an impact, rather than "saving the earth from pollution" in Wildforce. Ryan saving the family from the explosion and him realizing he's good with epic bravery music in the back playing, or the moment Capt. Mitchell seeing his son is the Titanium Ranger and him telling the other rangers that.
Overall, how much I liked the show's pros were more overwhelming than the problems it did have. It brings back memories, since not being born in the MMPR era and this to be the first season I actually saw.
Justin Bieber: Never Say Never (2011)
this girl doesn't shut up
It is a frigging documentary film. why would people pay at least 30-60 bucks to see a stupid film about justin bieber when they can see something more worth the money. Every person in the cast. Miley cyrus, usher raymond, justin bieber, their names are the same in the movie. WTF.his singing isn't good enough and yet we get to see a film about his concerts. XO. half the people in the world hate this kid so she's basically a modern day Hitler. We don't like her so why don't she just do us all a favor and just go fall in a ditch. there's even a song that has the lyrics,"Justin bieber will die. Justin Bie-ber will die." i like to improvise one part. I'M A GAY BABY BABY BABY OOOO. I'M A GAY BABY BABY BABY OOOOOH. I'M A GAY BABY BABY BABY OOOO. I THOUGHT YOU ALWAYS WOULD DIE
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
Could've been better. A lot better
The movie. eh, not the best. I heard on a secret youtube vid from Bay himself that this was supposed to climb. Well I think it went downhill by a lot. There was this writers strike that caused many parts of the movie to be removed. Autobots, Decepticons, more fights, they were taken out because of it. It might of been better. without that strike, but maybe it wouldn't have been. Im only hoping for the best since Bay took out fox for the last of the trilogy. Especially since they will have Sam's girlfriend removed and have him meet someone else is disappointing. She has been there with him from the start and I think they should finish it together. Wishin the next to be A lot better.
Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son (2011)
"and keep a lookout, cause you'll never know when big momma, might be back" Well for heavens sake. She Is Back!!!
I saw the movie yesterday and I found it funny. Nut cracker, undressing, and raising trent's voice. I typically din't find this one any worse than the last one. A bit more action might've been better, but then again there has never been that much action in the Big Momma series except for the ending. Anyways after the REAl reason why they have to go to an all girls school is revealed, I enjoyed the movie a bit more. Seeing Jackson and Lucas together did show what could happen later on. I also thought their song Baby You Know pretty good. And the romance between Big Mommma and kurtis to be amuzing, hard to get. The movie was funny and enjoyable. Id wait just to get it on DVD.
