Rules Don't Apply (2016)
A masterpiece
I was watching the movie wanting it to be good but at the beginning I found the story confusing and without focus.
But when you're reaching the end of the story you understand why everything was narrated in that way.
The story is sad, I was very sad watching what happened to the main characters, this is a movie with soul, it almost make me cry, watching this movie is a good time invested if you want to watch a good story that make you think about the mistakes that we make and the ones that we can make in our lives.
I understand that a lot of people can give low scores to the movie but I think that is really a masterpiece.
Inheritance (2020)
May be the best performance of Lily Collins and Simon Pegg
As I describe it in the title of my review, this movie should be by far the best acting performance of Lily Collins and the best or one of the best of Simon Pegg.
The movie starts well at the very, very, very beginning, it looks well, the characters look interesting but when you know the premise and how the premise develop we lost interest in the story.
I can't write about the last part of the movie because it would be a spoiler but it's pretty bad, someone when we watch bad movies we had ideas of how then could be improved with little changes but with this movie it doesn't apply that, the whole
movie is a mess, only enjoyable because of the performances of the main protagonists.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023)
Not the best TMNT movie...
I went with my daughter to the movies and I, as a fan of the TMNT didn't like it very much.
The idea of the turtles having a behavior like real teenagers was brilliant but the writers messed up the other characters...
Baxter Stockman was a joke, April O'Neil was annoying, Splinter too, and the story was not awful but boring.
The best TMMT movies are the original one and the remake of Michael Bay, this movie isn't in the same league but is a good effort.
I recommend this movie to young children, the same kind of audience of Paw Patrol and Pepa Pig, but if you wanna watch a good family friendly TMNT movie this is not the one for you.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Amazing production values but with lack of story.
The production values are unprecedented on a tv series, but the show was born with a problem, it doesn't have a story.
The rights of the show are a mess, they can't use the material of the First Age and neither can't use material of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, so... the show was born without a story to adapt, only places and some characters.
It'll be hard to have a good tv show without a good story, we will need to wait more episodes and seasons to see if they can fix this.
Maybe Amazon could get the rights of the other ages of the LOTR lore to have a better tv-show, but at this point it's hard to expect a good climax and ending of this show.
Resident Evil (2022)
I can't believe what I want to write but...
This is the best live action adaptation of Resident Evil, the production values are good, the acting is good, the script is original, it's a very good side story of the events of the games.
Supergirl (2015)
First season is ok, later seasons are propaganda
I really liked the first season, but later seasons became an LGBT, pacifist, etc. Propaganda with a show, I can't recommend this show, it's not safe for childrens, and it's sad because I really liked this version of supergirl, the portrayal of the character that Melissa Benoist is great, if you want to watch the show I recommend you only the first season (even if you're an LGBT supporter, the later seasons are from mediocre to bad).
They're far better superhero shows out there.
Monster Hunter (2020)
It's not the best Paul Anderson movie but is ok
I'm a fan of Monster Hunter games and I felt a little bit disappointed, but I think that in this particular case is not the directors fault. I understand that it should be so much difficult to make a Monster Hunter movie because is based on a series of games with almost zero story, but I would love to see more of the lore of the games in the movie but I'm sure that they didn't include that because of the lack of money... so, the first half of the movie is a little bit boring and the second half is ok.
Pieces of a Woman (2020)
Good idea, not the best execution
The premise if the movie is good, the actors are awesome on their roles, but is so slow and it has unnecessary nude scenes.
Suits (2011)
Great writers, not so great last two seasons.
Suits was an amazing tv show, at least in the first seasons, later it was good, but I didn't felt so good with the behavior of Mike and Harvey, they deserved some punishment for violating the law... then we watched again a awesome season, but the show fall down when Mike and Rachel left the show, Mike was the protagonist, so the end of the series should have been with the wedding of Rachel and Mike.
Anne (2017)
A really well made TV series but with great omissions from the book.
The TV series makes a good job filling the "empty spaces" of the book but changes a lot of things, also the tv series, opposite to the book see the religion as a bad thing, showing only bad examples of religious people, when in the book the pastor and his wife are a very good influence to Anne. Also the tv series is used to promote the LGBT agenda... the book is so much better.
Don gato y su pandilla (2011)
Awful
I loved the original old cartoon of Top Cat, but I also have a low expectedness of the movie adaptation of the old cartoon. Personally I don't like the style of the animation, the animation have portions of 3D (CGI) but, in general looks like a flash animation of a website, also I don't like the sense of humor of the movie, neither like the story. I think that the movie was a great idea, principally for the Mexican people, because the original cartoon was very famous here in Mexico, but was an idea bad implemented. For the good side, the movie has the original voices of the Mexican actor "El Tata", it is the only thing that I like it very much, but in general is a really bad, bad movie, but, please, judge yourselves.
