Grom: Trudnoye detstvo (2023)
Absolutely badass!
This was a blast - I loved the first movie, but this one exceeded all my expectations. Great action sequences (that prove good action can happen without the usual Willie coyote physics action movies rely on), great humour, animated parts that only made the moments better and just the right amount of heartfelt scenes. They even managed to connect the two movies seamlessly! The actors were chosen perfectly - I am usually sceptical about child actors but Kay Aleks Getts and Vladimir Yaganov played the young versions of Igor and Ignat so well. On top of that Sergey Marin is exactly how you'd imagine Grom senior. And let's not forget to mention the soundtrack! Obviously a lot of work and attention to detail was put in the making of this movie. I wholeheartedly recommend it! Absolutely badass!!!!!
Teen Wolf: The Movie (2023)
Fan service through and through
I am still a huge fan of the Teen wolf series, so when the announcement came out that there will be a movie following the end of the series story line I was happily surprised. Now, is that movie good? No. Is it bad? Kinda....but it is absolute fan service. So, in my opinion to enjoy it you have to be a fan of the series - otherwise you will find it probably corny, full of plot holes, rushed. And it is and has all of those things, but I loved seeing some of my favourite characters and that was enough for me. I know that some will say that the movie does a disservice to the characters that have been developed through the series, but it is a movie format and there is only so much that can be done to bring back what we know and try to layer it with what have become within the time limit. You have to get the bad with the good :)
SurrealEstate (2021)
Loving it!
If you are looking for a nice syfy show with interesting premise, something that keeps you engaged but doesn't scare the life out of you - this is a great show! It is smart, funny and just the right amount of scary. The cast is great with Tim Rizon as lead and the stories are well paced. I really, really hope it gets a second season!
Professionals (2020)
Not as bad as you would think
Alright - I have never written a review but perhaps I have had it with all the hate this kind of shows get. TV series with old timey flavour - that's what this show is. Remember Macgyver, Smallville, Magnum PI - those shows weren't created to be realistic - they were much like this one, created for fun - to pass the time, to relax a little. Lately everything that comes to the small screen is either over the top violent, gross and vulgar (yeah, yeah, we get - it reflects real life...) or is another season of a show that drags on for so long it makes you nauseated - so every once in a while there has to be something that is deliciously ridiculous. To sum it up - sit back and enjoy a little taste of the past - the experience it not as bad as you would think.
Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life (2016)
Must watch it!
This movie is a delight - it is witty, funny, serious when it counts! Perfect mixture of all the things you might have hated as a teenager in school and all the things you wanted to do to your school! But most importantly it speaks about being brave, growing up and getting trough the though times! The combination of animation and acting - nicely balanced and fresh, the soundtrack is right on the money! But after all you can't expect something bad to happen when this is an adaptation of James Patterson's book. The actors are so perfectly into the story - watching them is a joy on its own. Watch it no matter your age - it will give you a great time and leave you with that sweet sorrow feeling!
