The L.A. Complex (2012)
Amazing!
SO FREAKING GOOD!!!!!!
I must admit that when I first read about this show, I was afraid it would be a bad combo of Melrose Place and silly teen shows like Gossip Girl, but it is so much more than that. The characters are deep and the story lines are really well developed. It's rare that a show gets me so involved with only 6 episodes, but I'm having anxiety attacks about going without it for so many months...
All the characters are great and, unlike so many other cheesy shows, there aren't good guys and villains. They all have good and bad to them, like real people, and even though my life doesn't resemble theirs at all I can still relate to them. I'm completely in love with Tariq and Kaldrick, best storyline I've seen in a while and the actors are pretty amazing.
The only problem with this show is that it might not get more episodes and we might not find out what becomes of such amazing characters and story lines. I really hope they make more episode or I'll be really frustrated.
Definitely worth watching!!!
The Killer Inside Me (2010)
So boring!
There are about only two good scenes in this movie. The whole thing is very uneventful and boring, a true waste of time.
I have to say I was expecting a thriller, with a lot of suspense and some good death scenes. Instead, what I got were 1 hour and 49 minutes of boredom. The plot isn't bad, it's just the very slow pace of the movie the annoyed me so much. There were two scenes that got me excited for a minute, thinking that maybe things were gonna speed up, but after a couple of moments it slowed down again. In these kinds of movies, you usually expect the killer to be charming or at least interesting, but the main character has nothing to offer. Whoever made this was hoping the scenes from his childhood would explain his behavior and maybe make him more understandable, but I didn't buy it at all. Sure he had a screwed up upbringing and turned out liking violence, but that doesn't justify how cold he was.
Not to say the entire movie is awful, the casting is great. I'm not a fan of Casey Affleck, but his monotone acting goes very well with the character. Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson were pretty good too, even though their parts were kind of small. I have nothing against slow paced movies, I just don't think it matches this style.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. You'd be using your time better doing... well... anything else.
