Quite an exciting and intense movie

I actually liked this movie quite a lot from the start. The opening sequence instantly sets the tension and I found it quite gripping. A bit further into the movie are a couple of situations on the Dutch motorway that are sadly enough quite recognizable. But this also makes the frustration and anger very understandable and you can see things are slowly getting out of control.

Surely there are some situations that are maybe not the most realistic, but if you're looking for that go watch a documentary. It's not less realistic than the average Hollywood movie in my opinion (meaning not too realistic in essence). To me, a good thriller movie can contain some clichés and comedy, als long as it's full of tension. And surely we're terrified of the psychopath.

This movie also let's you think about what is right and wrong, as the main character is clearly flawed in his own ways and certainly had his part in causing the whole situation. It's also not your standard Hollywood happy-ending movie, which for me also is a plus.

Best movie I've seen in a long time!

This is a brilliant dark comedy and a real ode to this genre set in the beautiful 1950s. The seemingly bright and optimistic start, quickly goes down into darker scenes with great cinematography. Several twists and turns, funny clues and great suspense make it a very satisfying experience. The storyline, acting, visuals, music and setting are all great!

I was surprised by the low rating (5.7 atm), but I guess no film will ever satisfy every single person on the planet. That being said, quite a lot of these '1 star' ratings down here are just plain ignorant. The racism displayed was common during this timeperiod (which is a historical fact) and maybe for some it is just too confronting to realize it's still present in modern society. Furthermore, it's an essential background in this movie that serves to show that some things aren't what they seem and the story itself is not actually about racism, but about the family living next door.

Political message or not, this movie is just genius and deserves at least a 7 or 8. Personally, I found it worth 10/10. As the title reads: best movie I've seen in a long time!
