The Midnight Sky (2020)
An unbelievably pointless, plotless waste of your (and George Clooney's) time.
I just cannot understand that -- a talented actor and director with absolute creative freedom, good SFX, a decent budget, 2+ hrs. of screen-time -- it just sounded like an amazing setup for a superb film. All the pieces are there. The cheapest and simplest part of that endeavor is the plot: just make all those people do reasonable actions, with at least some purpose.
But for some unfathomable (to me at least) reason -- there's no plot, there's no logic behind the character's decisions and the movie reveals nothing regarding the situation at place. (while tens of minutes were literally wasted on absolutely useless, pointless b-roll type "filler" scenes)
I really cannot understand how such things keep happening -- even when Netflix is in a position where it really wanted (I guess) George Clooney to pick them, over the competition, and (again - I guess) gave him reasonable creative freedom.
My Octopus Teacher (2020)
A kind, beautiful film - of the best ones I've seen.
It feels to me that it's extremely rare nowadays to come across such inspiring, kind story of friendship - such as the one presented in this film.
An unbelievable work was done by the director - which gave almost a year of his life to an unbelievably noble creature, while capturing all the best and worst moments of her short, heroic life on camera. Those unbelievably intimate moments of hardship, suffering, victory and happiness of such a noble creature - which are almost never captured on camera - where captured, literally for the first time, only thanks to this man, who decided to dedicate a year of his life, to living WITH this magnificent creature.
This film makes one wonder, more than ever, how many of those incredible stories exist out there in the ocean (some of them are taking place right now) and how little and insignificant we and our problems are, even in the scope of out tiny planet.
There's so much going on here, so many REAL events are happening around us, while we are dealing almost exclusively with OUR little and - in the grand scheme of things - absolutely meaningless problems.
This world is so much bigger than us, and we take it for granted, while having the unbelievably selfish feeling that it's OURS. Nothing is ours, life is so very short and full of true wonder - don't waste it away.
Midway (2019)
Disrespectful of the era, disrespectful of the events and most importantly -- disrespectful of the living participants of the events
Horrendously done picture.

Love, Death & Robots: Zima Blue (2019)
hands down, one of the two best sci-fi shorts out there
In my opinion, this one and Animatrix's World Record are the two best sci-fi shorts out there.
Truly amazing.
Zhivye i myortvye (1964)
Breathtaking WW2 masterpiece - one of the best films you'll ever watch
51 years after the release of "THE ALIVE AND THE DEAD", I've finally watched that incredible masterpiece. The movie is as relevant now as it was back in 1964. The movie tells the story of a man, a good man, in the long, infinite, brutal, heroic year of 1941 - the first year of the darkest period in history. The director did an amazing job - the movie is visually astonishing, many of the frames could be, as they are, framed and pinned to a wall. The actors are some of USSR's best - each one does his role in the best possible way, truly amazing. Most of the actors playing soldiers in this movie are actual World War II veterans. In some scenes, the eyes tell more than words could ever tell. The dialogues are breathtaking and truthful. The movie presents the true horror of this war and the UNBEARABLE weight on the shoulders of the Red Army soldiers. They fought in rain, in snow, in mud, they went through ice and fire. They kept on fighting while being burned alive in tanks, airplanes, ships and trenches. They heroically fought for every hill, for every village, for every station, for every city - for every piece of their land occupied by the most ruthless enemy in human history. They fought the Germans while knowing that their wives and families are at great danger - maybe already tortured and dead or maybe also fighting on the fronts of this forsaken war. The movie perfectly represents that the chances to survive were so incredibly small that each man understood that every day, every minute could be the last. Still - they had hope, still they kept on fighting, still THEY WON THIS WAR. But in this masterpiece, the victory is still very far - this is only 1941.. the war had just begun. With no doubt - 10/10
No Way Out (1987)
A really great Kevin Costner action film !
I've watched the movie a few days ago (2014), and to say the truth - I wasn't really expecting anything - I knew it is a quite early Kevin Costner/Gene Hackman movie which I haven't heard about. The acting is great, the plot is really interesting - once you start watching it, it will be really hard to pause. Maybe some parts of the movie were a bit predictable but the big twist in that movie is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME and really UNEXPECTED.
If you have a chance - go watch this one on a rainy Friday night, you won't regret.
8/10
Hitganvut Yehidim (2010)
Well .. I don't recommend watching the movie.
The movie takes place at the mid 50's. Location: a training camp for physically and mentally ill soldiers who doesn't want to serve in the IDF, the new army of the new 8-years-old country. The director did and awful job. The problem that movie has no plot, no idea, no point. The characters - some are new immigrants from different countries and few were born in the Holy Land, but NONE of that is told in the movie. That is a fact that most of the Europeans who immigrated to Israel in the 40's and 50's were holocaust survivors, and each one had their own story of bravery and pain, but none of that seems to be important to the director. Instead, many scenes are showing some strange, bizarre and unexplained behavior of the soldiers, including some strange homo-sexual scenes, and any of those scenes have any connection to the plot, or have any logical explanation. The movie shows NOTHING about this incredibly interesting time, only a decade after the end of the largest conflict in human history which took the lives of 60,000,000 people, and the first years of a new country, but has so many ridiculous scenes which have no point at all. In addition characters and scenes disappear or being forgotten without any notice, reaction or explanation.. Actually the only scene that has a point is the ending of the movie, which is surely a very strong scene, but that is the only good scene and I don't understand why I waited 115 minutes to this scene ..
Again: there are some great actors in this movie like Oz Zahavi, but the director did NOTHING at all to connect the scenes of the movie and build it in an interesting way, and again he forgot about this thing called PLOT.
Really, don't watch it. It won't educate you, it won't entertain you, it may only depress you.
