Intergalactic (2021)
Dire
Cliched and badly overacted. I gave up on it 10 mins into Ep2 as I had hoped it would improve on Ep 1. I was wrong.
Singin' in the Rain (1952)
My second all time favourite film
I don't think I have the words to describe how wonderful this film is. It starts off being a parody of silent film and then looks at the transition into talkies. There is some semblance of truth to this as there are reports out there where either studio bosses or directors are reported to have said " so and so can speak". Donald O'Connor gives his best ever performance I think in this film and the quality of the whole team just shines through. I saw this first many years ago and have watched it many times since and it does not lose that magic that denotes a great film. The great moment of course is the "Singing in the Rain" sequence which is just magnificent but then the denouement at the end where "Cathy" is revealed as the singer is just joyous. Sit down relax and enjoy. This is movie making at its absolute best!
Flood (2007)
Could be worse
I just watched this on a very wet August Bank Holiday in UK 2012 (Movies 24 Channel) and it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Admittedly I did wonder why a couple of the actors took the job as they didn't seem that convincing - the money must have been good! You have to be in the mood for every disaster movie cliché from every disaster movie you can think of, and put up with some quite glaring plot holes that cause some why didn't you, or how did..., moments? I'm not going to do spoilers, you can discover those for yourself. It is worth a look for some harmless, wet afternoon entertainment. So suspend your disbelief at one or two points but overall not that bad. I've seen worse.
