Weekend at Bernie's II (1993)
Wow, what a terrible movie
This has to be THE worst sequel, or at least one of them, that I have ever seen. I wasn't expecting another Weekend at Bernie's (which was a classic, btw), but I was expecting some decency, considering the main 3 characters all came back.
First off, this movie was supposed to take place instantly after Bernie's death, since they actually went to the morgue to see him. Yet, no joke, Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman looked 10 years older. I know it was only 4 years between movies, but they seemed to age A LOT between the two movies. It was almost comical how much they aged in a matter of "days". Shoot, even Sly Stallone, 10 years between Rocky movies didn't age that much.
Secondly, McCarthy and Silverman seemed to forgot how to play the characters properly. The movie was basically a continuation of the first, yet they were acting completely different. Both actors did a terrible job of channeling the original energy of Larry and Richard.
Lastly, the entire premise of the movie was RIDICULOUS! Bernie cursed and would start dancing when music came on? Good God, this was a tough one to make it through. 4.4 overall rating here is VERY generous for this debacle of a movie!
Elf (2003)
6.8 overall rating is an absolute sin!
Elf is one of the all-time classic Christmas movies. Quite possibly the funniest Christmas movie of all-time, and you will see Elf Marathons on TV for the next 50 years. This will become our generations "A Christmas Story", even though "A Christmas Story" wasn't popular at the time of release, and didn't even really get a cult following until a decade later. Elf has been, and will always be a classic film. I can't understand the 6.8 overall rating here on IMDb. I was expecting upwards of an 8+ overall.
Will Ferrell is a character actor who did an absolutely brilliant portrayal of Buddy the Elf, a human that was raised in an Elf Village. His naivety in regards to how the real world works is absolutely hilarious and ridiculous, but believable, because Ferrell did such an amazing job.
The Flintstones (1994)
What else can you say.... it was awful
I don't think they could have done a worse job with the casting for this movie. Rick Moranis as Barney Rubble? Seriously? Other than "Honey I shrunk the Kids", Rick Moranis has done nothing worthwhile in his entire acting career. This is another blunder on Moranis' resume. I didn't like John Goodman as Fred Flintstone either. Other than being overweight and slightly resembling Fred, Goodman just didn't deliver in this role. Now things get even more comical.... Rosie O'Donnell, a fat, unattractive woman, playing Betty Rubble?!? Truly amazing. Elizabeth Perkins as Wilma was the best choice out of the 4 main roles, but it still wasn't good.
When you do such a horrible job of casting, it pretty much sets the stage for a disaster of a movie. The 4.6 star rating currently on here is a bit generous in my opinion.
