Well done.... I guess???

My god this is BLEEEEEEEEEEAK!!!!

I'm not really sure why anyone would find this entertaining???? It's like the writers sat around thinking of the most depressing things one could possibly ever imagine and put that in every scene in every SINGLE moment.

I watched Ep 1 and 9. Just to see where it goes. So a pregnant lady runs from a zombie while in labor to a disease infested bldg to give birth on a a dirty floor and of course while her baby is being born she's bitten so cant Nurse the baby so gives it to her freind who then kills the mom. WOW!!!!! What intense sadness did they miss? What could have been worse?? Maybe instead of watching this I'll just watch live footage of Rafah right now.

I truly can't imagine how anyone would want to see this by choice (I had to watch it)

The actors are fabulous. I guess the writing and set Design etc is all top notch if you're in to death destruction and the Most horrific sad s**t you've ever seen in your entire life.

It's literally horrific. I think that's the goal. Every single damn moment. That can't be by mistake.

Maybe it makes people feel like their lives aren't so bad, if you're already depressed??

I. Do. Not. Get. It.

Instead you could give yourself a paper cut and pour Lemon juice in it for an hour with some tobacco in your eyeball. Or just give up the will to live. Like, what's the upside or the point?

I'd watch more to maybe glean why someone would create this is or watch it but I'm out - Man oh man that was depressing.

It's gotten painfully hallmark

I find myself openly cringing - it's so surface and on The nose it's no longer interesting. Not one character does anything not predictable and card Board cut out.

The little refugee girl with the ruby red slippers "they don't work" ....ARGH. And then With the kitten, "families should be together" "you're allowed to cry too even though you're a grown up" "thank you for reading me" EYE ROLL

It's excruciating.

Also, worst vets ever. The mommy cat is a little thin so we'll take her kitten. How about just feed the mom. The rat he loves is in the smallest cage I've ever seen.

Silly predictable story lines! The guys going to race his prize horse even if it'll break the horses leg??? Horses racers are notoriously selfish and cruel But that's just Really really obvious here it's going!

And what Was that last episode with Tristan proposing to the girl for why??? And with A key ring??? Made him look like he was simple. And then She says, "you can't be you if you're with me" huh? And then They break up?! She disappeared from the show. Terrible writing. Unless they want Tristan to seem that stupid.

Tristan goes off to war while the hallmark music swells and i Could not care less. That's some bad writing. If he dies in the war I'm not sure I'll shed a tear. Bad writing.

It's all patent and surface. Not sure how many more I can watch. Right now I've got me thumb on the FF 10 seconds button and hit It A LOT and miss Nothing.

A Gentleman in Moscow: A Master of Circumstance (2024) Season 1, Episode 1

If you've read the glorious book this is a hard pass

Not really sure why a studio is inspired to plunk down Millions to adapt a book to the screen and then Change it utterly. In other words, ruins it.

1. A black Mishka (with rastas no less) is just silly.

2. The counts character is different in the book and better than here. Ewan does a good job but the dialogue is hallmark-ish. "They can take your home but not who you are" (ugh). And then At the bar..."if I let myself think about it I'd fall in to despair" or something to that TV effect. Why? The wonderful glorious thing about the book is the Count has such staggering depth of character!! In fact, so much so that he's in this situation

3. Why not keep the book in order? They pull pieces (badly) from much later in the book and randomly Alter it - this show is a mess. The book is SO much better and very Different!

4. Why alter simple things like his first morning where they actually bring him breakfast at his room. Such a nice moment to meet the hotel staff. It showed the deep respect they had for the count.

5. They're doing odd things like already referencing the pistols behind the painting and then He goes hunting for them. In the book he is amused by happening at finding them

6.ossip was not there at the moment he went back in to his suite or later when they didn't ever shoot Dimitri . He meets ossip much later and does Not know him yet and the Form a fascinating friendship!

7. They never rousted the Counts room! What was that about?!

8. He never for one moment thought of escape or rebellion! Also neither did the violin player. That's the point of the book! They were utterly good Russians, with self integrity. What was that weird fantasy of escape? In the book, we really see what character sasha has! In this show sasha pauses because he can't take his belongings??? (Eye roll) He stayed (and said He wrote the poem) because of his strength of character! And this Whole weird story line made up and crammed In with Dimitri???

9. "How are we going to survive these endless days stuck in this hotel"? So on the nose. Painful writing. Such a better reveal in the book of how Nina shows him the hotel. It's a fun room not a spy thriller

It really shows how a world class book writer like Amor and a Screen writer are just not in the same league.

10. Marina is also not a Russia in 1918 (eye roll). Really? A period price can't even be a period piece now?? (Huge eye roll). Where's the diversity for Russian actors? They're English and black. Why not hire Russians??

11. The trip through the basement in the book is so charming and in This show it becomes some sort of political thriller. He saw dimitris name on a list just by chance??? Lame. And then The count won't leave because of his dead sister?? "Perhaps I don't deserve to (live my life)". Dear god who wrote this?? Why not just do what amor did in the book?!?!?! It's GENIUS

12. The camera jerks around randomly and bizarrely.

13. The flashbacks are random and not Illumintaing the way they use them - in the book Amor revealed them so artfully!!

14. They seize Dimitri at the restaurant and smash His violin??? SO STUPID!!! And they Shoot him in front of the hotel?!?! Soooooooooo much better in the book! They find a photo of the emporer in Dimitri's grade school book. So much more illustrative of how crazy this time was. Amor was artful.

I've listened to the book a few times and it Is LEAGUES BETTER THAN THIS!!!

I will not be watching any further. This show is just not good.

READ THE BOOK!

An adaptation that IS GREAT!!! Is SHOGUN! Watch that instead! On Hulu. Shogun was a brilliant book (much longer than GIM too) and in Ten episodes they have done a brilliant job in that miniseries. And you Know what? Asians even got to play Asians and English Got to play English!

Death and Other Details: Memorable (2024) Season 1, Episode 7

All good things must come to an end

Welp. This show was so good darnit and it Just got real stupid. Let me count the ways.

1. The lawyer kills himself out of guilt because he loved the mom but before he jumps he doesn't help them in any way and say "victor sams Is____" and then jump. Why not tell them if he's jumping??

2. The governor has been wheezing randomly the entire series and no One noticed (besides me) and then only When she got real upset, only then did she bleed from the mouth and drop Dead...from B12 injections?? First of all IVs aren't B12 injections and when She started wheezing randomly and her Arm looked like the pox she didn't go to the ships doctor??? That was a dumb character arc.

3. Annas wife is able to somehow break all the passcodes because she now a computer hacker genius and the First file she happens to open is her wife cheating?

4. Rufus is somehow now a total fraud when he's been spot on this entire show??? So he now knows nothing about detective work?

5. Why tie the guy up in the chair?

6. If you pour alcohol all over someone and light Them on fire they don't just get a chest burn but that's the least of this shows problems.

7. Why are we not in shore? "Because we're waiting for reinforcements"?? Why not head to shore while waiting for reinforcements? Can't they meet reinforcements there? I mean the boat guy and imogen Somehow took their vintage speed boat to Italy for a couple days and then somehow found the ship again in the middle of the darn ocean, no problem. I think interpol could meet up with them.

8. The interpol ladies accent is very noticeable.

Where has this damn boat been going anyway???

This season is gonna wrap up real stupid isn't it?

Bummer!

I wish there was a show with great writers! So so so so few. Not sure I'll even finish the season as I can now see what we're in for.

Death and Other Details: Exquisite (2024) Season 1, Episode 5

First noticeable mistakes

So the costumer jumped the shark with the shopping spree for the sexiest red lingerie ever and a Yellow frock as opposed to no new underwear and a new shirt with jeans, while randomly staying over. That took me out of it.

The boy owner is also likely victor sams and it Was dumb to give up the bill of lading. That was obvious.

The chick playing anna is ...playing something "Hoity Toity" that ain't really working.

The governor is randomly and bizarrely out of breath??? It's very weird. Some sort of allergy to sometimes being upset? She could dial that back or drop it.

The makeup artist and the D of P are the best I've seen in a long time or ever.

So a couple silly plot points and actors Struggling.

Everyone else is great.

(Accents are not Mandy's strong suit)

Trying to be weird for the sake of being weird and hoping It's seen as clever???

Makes no sense. No one to like or root for. Is it trying to be funny??? Or....what is it trying for. I can't tell but man I sure can tell ITS TRYYYYYYYING HAAAAAAAAARD! Very very very hard.

The actors are all great.

The writing is .....trying very hard.

I'm wondering, but can only guess, that this creator is a big fan of Wes Anderson? As am I. This isn't it.

I'm just not sure what its point is or where it is going. And im Afraid I'll never know.

It's just very confusing. Her last speech is politically spot on about American intervention but it's coming from a psychopath (the chancellor) inspired by another psychopath, (the army dude who killed the kids in site 5).

So since two psychopaths came up with the right speech ...does that mean that the point is America is not a power hungry greedy country?

Who knows! It's too painful to keep watching.

Oh and also Swearing doesn't make it clever. I personally love swearing - deadwood was one of my fav shows - but this is again trying very very very very very very very hard.

Was 5 stars until the last episode...

....then It plummeted down hill in that last episode to such a painful degree that I said out loud, "well this will be my last episode!"

Then I came in here to rant about how bad it was and see It was ended by the network. I see why.

The actors were all top notch. It's just a shame about the writers.

First of all...Halam is written so phenomenally unlikable that it was baffling.

He seemed to love his wife at the start and then He became a huge dick out of the blue! THEN the nazi spy sister who he despised he starts sleeping with??? Um....why???

I guess they really bonded over her abortion, like ya do. (Huge eye roll) I mean, what???

Then he's just really mean to agnes. For no reason what so ever. She's just endlessly nice and he's Awful!

Then after agnes finds out he's been sleeping with her sister!! The sister nearly kills the maid, and then Falls off a 2nd story balcony and just Dies, and what Does agnes do the day after finding out and her Sister dying? Well Patches it up the husband of course!! She is one forgiving gal!

Really?!?!?!?

I DO NOT GET IT!

Just truly crap writing. How these poor actors acted this drecht I have no idea!

Welp....this is what happens when boys adapt great men's...

Sigh.

I don't know why I must sit and watch The ego on the screen of action writers think they can improve upon Asimov. I wish they had just simply aimed to live up to it.

No reverence.

It's a strange thing to be moved by the book and then think it's need improving. It seems so important for them to put their stamp on like a dog and a Fire hydrant, (no offense to dogs).

If you haven read Asimov you may like it.

If you have, you will not. Not a lot of readers in the world today, as there used to be, so the show will do fine. But so much that distracts from the main plot. So much padding and filler That is just a distraction - I find myself having a very hard time staying in the room or not picking up my phone to scroll IG...it's just ....been too watered down with stuff we didn't need.

I wonder why? To make it longer? To show how clever they are? Thinking audiences needed a marvel movie?

Same thing happened with Blade Runner. (Was absolutely horrendous)

This isn't horrendous- it's just puzzling.

The actors are all great.

Production is massively expensive.

And im Not sure I care, sadly.

Oh the time jumps are bizarre.

Belgravia (2020)

Nice dresses and rooms. Nooooooo surprises ever. As on the nose as one could possibly ever get. Absolutely never anything clever in any way. Beyond predictable. Painfully obvious.

So soapy that general hospital laughs at it.

The actors are doing better than one could imagine with the dialogue that lives on the very layer of human behavior.

Epsoside 3 and we All know where it's going. Not one character does anything of any curious interest. So I guess I'll just sit here and watch Mr pope marry the girl that was supposed to marry that goofy son who's having an affair with that other goofy son. Goofy sons is a theme.

Soapy soap soapety SOAP!

Oh and a Silly sound track. Dun dun dun dun dun dun on the canned violin.

Monsieur Spade (2024)

What's happening??

So is the French woman who picks him up by the car in the ditch, his dead wife? Were those flashbacks?? Where is the little girl now and why Is he trying to find...her mother or her father?? Who's he working for?

At some point there was an older girl in the nunnery, who was that?

Is he a veteran or a conscientious objector? He says he was the latter but then asks the cop if he's insulting his war record. What war record?

I'm also confused a bit by Clive Owen's performance. Is it ...monotonous and monitone...or is it brilliant?? Humphrey was in no way monotone. He had humor and wit And anger And emption And flirted....there is room for that with the character.

Is the little girl from the start the same one who's in his living room later drinking wine?

He says he doesn't speak French but then he does speak French one scene later, so was that due to a time jump???

The woman who pulled the shot gun on him looks like the woman in the garden wearing a hat, cutting roses, and now He's speaking French to her so was that another time jump??

I'm beginning to suspect that this show is time jumping A LOT with absolutely no evidence of it or any minuscule clues. My husband and i Watched the pilot twice and by The end of the second watch when I said I think they are time jumping all over the place he said he would have never guessed that.

All episodes are written and directed by the same man. This is why that's a bad idea. In his head it makes Sense. It's does not to a viewer who don't spend a year writing it. He knows where he is going but we don't even know where we are.

How are the nuns all dead and sitting up at the end???? Artful? But also impossible.

There is just A LOT that is arty and pretty And also Huh??

As a side note. Humphrey was a big smoker. Looked to me like Clive was not by the way he put his cigarette out on the floor INSIDE the doctors office - who does that?! I was a smoker and my husband is a 40 year smoker, not once would we ever inside throw a smoke on the floor and smash It out! But I googled it and he Said Clive had been a smoker. Anywho I'm wondering why the focus on smoking - so that Clive didn't have to chain smoke for the entire run? Fair enough. (But don't throw your smoke on the floor inside actors! Unless your intent is to show what a classless AHole the character is)

I may try one more episode but between the one note of spade and not Even knowing what year we are in or what he is doing - it does not engage.

Baptiste (2019–2021)

What a shame the writing is so bad

I squeaked through Ep 1 hoping it would improve because the cast is so good. I was hitting that 10 second FF a lot as the music swelled on the image of him opening the box to reveal the GUN!...dun dun dun! Etc. Yawn.

But episode 2 I didn't make it through. That same problem in the first episode - of being desperate to manufacture drama, with editing and sound track instead of story - got worse but they added in obvious and also Extremely unlikely plot events. (Eye roll)

The gangstah finds the girl. She smartly leaves her house boat! She goes in the water and hides Under the walkway. And just When I was thinking how refreshing to see a clever gal onTV!!! The writers had her swim down to the bottom of the river. Why we have no idea. He walked over her multiple times and never even looked down. She already got away with it. Then inexplicably the Gangsta stands on the outside walkway above her FOR EVER!!!! Why we have no idea. He just stands there doing nothing, FOR EVER. So then I start thinking...oh no, so what is the writer going to do now?!

Sure enough they decided to create drama the cheap way. So no reason for him to stand there sight seeing on the river for ever just staring out - HE DIDNT EVEN LOOK DOWN! She's free diving bizarrely and then, wait for it, her foot gets caught in the rope.

Dear god. Really???

Really???

And she Drowns. Bu dum bum.

Yup.

So they're going to hang an entire season on this preposterous scenario??? God for bid they write a show with a gal being all the way clever. Lame.

Her foot got caught in the rope?!?!?!

Eeeee gads.

Well I won't waste my time watching cheap writing.

What a shame.

Homeland: Two Hats (2012) Season 2, Episode 9

One of the dumbest shows I have ever scene

The writing is excruciatingly bad.

So Brody has to get the pace maker codes. First of all you can't kill anyone with pace maker codes. Lol! A pacemaker does nothing, unless someone has a heart attack. It monitors for irregularities and then Can alert and even Shock the heart. It is absolutely impossible for it to cause a heart attack. That is some dumb ass stuff.

And say In some magical futuristic world the Vice president has a box with a number in it that anyone could kill him with....would it just be lying around in his office?!?! ITS SO DUMB.

How dumb are people who think this makes any sense???

Even dumber is how Brody tells the VP he is killing the VP. What if he's revived?

Also Kerry heard brody make the deal with nazir so she'd know he killed the VP. Who knows if she'd care.

Also he has a camera phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just take a photo of the serial number!!! Instead he stands in the VPs office for like 10 mins when he's supposed to be in the can, and calls Nazir from there?!?! Doesn't write down the number anywhere. Hunting around for a magnifying glass??? Seriously?!?! Just take a photo and get The hell out of the office and then Call nazir later!!! What if the VP had walked in in the middle of that call and brody Is on the phone with nazir holding a magnifying glass with the box open on the desk?????????

ITS SOOOOOOOOOOO DUMB!!! How do these writers keep these jobs?!?!

And people Watch this and leave A good review??? Makes me despair for the human race.

And then Kerry goes back to get nazir with a lead pipe all on her own??? "Whatever it takes" lol! Oh man, she's such a bad ass tough gal! #dumb

My god. If this is the CIA we're in big trouble. A bunch of idiots.

If this is what professionals write and networks throw millions behind and people Watch this and like It, we're in even bigger trouble!!!

Flawless (2007)

I just love watching women do stupid stuff

It's lame. I normally enjoy Demi but she's not good in this. It's also frustrating to watch her do one dumb thing after another: Leaves her prints in the office Accosts michael Cain in the office lobby "what have you done!" IN FRONT of the investigator.

Then forces a meet up right after the crime.

Demands to be privy to the investigation

It's endlessly dumb

Also at the beginning the interviewer says, "you've been in prison"

But she didn't go to prison in the end??

And why Did he leave her all the money?? There's no indication she'll be the most philanthropic person. "Are you a giver or a taker?" Deep man.

A silly point but she hands the women her life story, for some odd reason, and the Woman reads it but then runs out the door to find Demi and shes Vanished! So how fast does this woman read? And why Run after her once she's read that last oh so moving line.

Nothing holds water in this film. I rolled my eyes a lot.

And Demi Also has a really bad accent and plays her with no intelligence or depth

Don't be thrown by other reviewers saying the ending was a real twist. It's patent.

Very lame

I'm not sure why I even gave it 4 stars.

Homeland: Beirut Is Back (2012) Season 2, Episode 2

Well done show but writing doesn't make sense

So Brody .... Was a suicide bomber, then killed his BF Walker, but then they ask him to get in to estos safe and he's Like NO WAY! And then saves Nasir from the sniper (why? As that would have been the end to all his problems) and then Tells the contact "I'm not your guy"??? Um....no, you are the guy who broke in to the safe and risked Everything to save nazir so dude, you confused!

I think the character of Brody is very undefined. He is perfectly fine strapping on the bomb vest talking to his daughter through his bedroom door and saying good bye to her an hour before and then He pushes the button twice, but then she calls him and he Hears her voice and changes His mind???

That's weak!

It's also silly writing as he's the lead of the show and so Obviously he ain't gonna blow himself up. No suspense in the writing, just character development but what character. He's crazy, no he's not, no he is, or is he just dumb? Is this a Patty Hearst syndrome?? 100% impossible to root for him.

Ok...then Carrie. Sigh. So she is NUTS!!! She endangers everyone's lives to run in and get Some papers??? That was SO ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was hoping That they would shoot her and really Annoyed that they couldn't as again, lead of the show. So not suspenseful writing just possible character development but what character?? Stupid? Nuts? For sure nuts, but stupid too?

Why do writers sacrifice trust for adrenaline???????

So annoying!

Well done show but the writers are very confused!

What the heck is this????

Is it trying to be slap stick??

This is usually what happens to a show season 6 when it's winding down. It's called jumping the shark.

There is so much that is painful in The writing.

The actors are excellent but they're in the hands of lame writing and directing And producing

But first of all ANY HUMAN could have done that ritual drunk, and stupid. Hold a hot tea pot? Hear some criticisms??

And were Any of us really worried that Spock was really going to be stuck as human???

And does It make any sense at all that nurse chapel and two Other buds (their in no way acting like starfleet) would risk death to get to the alien to save Spock from being human...and then She doesn't just say, "I'm his wife, his sister, his mother, his doctor"?? She goes in to this utterly ridiculous "well we're friends...I mean...I like him....i mean...like I want him to like me but he's engaged and you See...."

WHAT IS THIS?!

Is it supposed to be farce? Monty python? Funny?

It's none of those.

The writers need to understand Star Trek or writing for any sort of action actually - you can't just write a line "do we risk death for Spock?" And then A wry smile "let's do this!" And - and have Us feel ANY TENSION what so ever if you are also trying to be funny (and not Being funny by the way).

ARGH!

How do these people get these jobs?!

Maybe AI would be better?

I thought self driving cars were a bad idea but then I see people texting and think I guess we better get self driving cars!

I'm worrrid about AI replacing artists! But not after watching this show. There's a huge massive star trek legacy and any Bot could do better than this as it would stay within what works and not Have an ego that would be desperate to be clever and fun Y at any cost.

I feel for the actors

They are very good and try To ground it

They are getting wrong direction.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Among the Lotus Eaters (2023) Season 2, Episode 4

Hallmark star trek

This is the first episode that was actually Star Trek....sort of.

I'm not sure why I'm still watching it. I guess I'm such a Star Trek TNG fan that I'm still ...hoping? I love space travel? The cast is likable? (Especially Ching and Spock.)

But they're not really on a Star Trek, as far as I can tell. This show skipped the first 5 seasons of setting up the show with actual missions and moved Right in to individual episodes. So far this season has done this every episode. This ep at least had some story lines that was an actually Star Trek (albeit about it being from Ortegas view point)

(I'm watching the beginning of ep 5 and it's All about crew 'shore leave' and I thought from what?? A vacation already? Also this about the nurse and Spock It seems - weird)

Also the captain is a captain of sorts, but he's also their bud

It's actually "friends in space" - a few friends. This space ship seems to have also very few crew. So chandler and rachel etc are flying this thing just them. We rarely see any other crew be relieved or on the bridge. Also a bit weird.

Bottom line is it's just not a Star Trek

And the Prime directive:

"A single asteroid changed the course of history on this planet for 1,000s of years, that's not natural development" What is it then?

Not Star trek yet.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow (2023) Season 2, Episode 3

First of all the actress who plays Sing is fantastic!

And she Really had her work cut out for her with this writing! Ugh

Ya know, you gotta be really good to manage writing time travel stuff. The writers just aren't up to it.

It made very little sense.

I'm also not sure why they are writing Kirk as a goofy kind of dilettante. Kirk is a known character with certain personality traits and not caring or Wanting to work is not one of em

I think they had a tough casting choice as pike is very much like Kirk.

It's really like a season 4 episode- as it has only one series regular in it. That's the kind of thing a show can handle after we know the cast really really really well. The last ep which was all about una was also way too soon. (And made Una look not too bright)

Also...this ep was hard to follow. Just not well done. Convoluted. And i Saw everything coming like kirk's wild driving was so predictive of getting pulled over! And also Makes him seem like an idiot. But they had to have that happen for us to meet the villain chick. Lame.

And that Chick fight...first the villain subdues sing with only one hand then gets her ass kicked by sing ?? Then wins?? Lame.

On a side smaller note why was the time travel lady in the last scene so cold? Bizarrely naturally overly officious.

Bad directing.

Why not say, I'm so sorry and thank You. I know that was hard and you did a great job...you can't tell anyone - like a real human?

Instead she was ...expressionless like in a creepy (trying way too hard) way.

Again, Hats off to the actress playing sing. Really great work!! She's very good.

Writers...um.... Watch next gen?

Producers...hire writers who are....better, subtler, and know Star Trek well.

That was stupid writing

I'm a very big start trek fan...because of the writing.

This writing...ugh.

It's SO ON THE NOSE! Painfully predictable. Also Melo drama extraordinaire.

I rolled my eyes a lot.

So Una turned herself in??? And it Never occurred to her it may implicate her captain. That makes her stupid. It's just not clever. Data on trial in Next Gen...and riker Also on trial...very clever. It was clever because it highlighted a universal and subtle Subject.

This......I don't know ...were the writers trying very very hard to be clever?? Trying to find hooks??

They hadn't set up any precedent that una just couldn't live with her secret anymore!! So much so that she decided, when all was well, to destroy her career and her Captains and maybe Do 20 years jail time. And then She was shocked?? They had had only one episode on her need to hide what she was and then All was well.

And the Attorney. She was working very very hard. She stalked and glared and left Dramatic pauses - no one helped her out. She worked way too hard. Not her fault. And i Don't even get what the tension was. She said those who could pass as normal left. Was she...not normal?? And Una Left when she was young with her family...and is The lawyer lady still maaaaad after 20-30 years???

Just so lame.

Napoleon (2023)

I can't recall ever walking out of a film. If I have, it's been a loooong time! My husband leaned over and said, I'm done, I'll wait for you outside. And I realized I was miserable as well. We left. In 15 years we've never walked out of a film.

I had heard a podcast with Ridley and wanted To see it after hearing how this epic was made!

It was non stop battle and bloodshed For the first 45 mins, with about maybe 6 mins of dialogue. And not Great dialogue either. Joaquin is fabulous as always, but especially in this as he does so much with so little on the page.

It's endless bloody battle scenes. How much of that can you sit through? And why?? What does showing the 96th person blow to bits inform us of over the 95th person blown to bits?? It goes on and on And on And on With the bloody battles.

This we know of napoleon! The relationship scenes with Josephine was also not informative. Ridley seemed to chose to cover so much of napoleon's life and every big battle that maybe it was just too much to leave room for real character development or insight.

It's a shallow film.

And why Tell this story? What will we learn?

I'll never know as 45 mins was 46 too many. The 4 stars are an A+ for effort! By everyone. A massive project. (Just not sure why).

It just got real real real stupid!

Iv been suffering through the endless swelling (canned) music as on my ipad I can hit the 10 second Fast Forward over and over.

But now The characters just became totally and utter moronic!!! And therefore Unlikable! I can't root for idiots. I'm actually hoping that ross gets hung! How lazy are the writers?

I'm even hoping the French hang the writers.

Elizabeth has always been a shallow fool, but she makes the flip to evil psychosis who abandons her child literally in .7 seconds. She's always been a boring one layer character.( I can't tell if it's just the writing or the actress that chooses to never play a second note).

Demelza gets complete amnesia and sends Her sappy brothers to trespass on wellegean land even though they shot her when she did, and shes Just us BAFFLED when that doesn't go well!!

I rolled my eyes so hard I got a headache!

Then Ross.... Is the largest idiot!!!

He gets offered to be a judge and he reacts as a wine swigging arrogant moron (if this actor has a glass in a scene he always chugs). And says, "I won't turn on my kin folk" or something else out of the patent overused lines writers handbook.

(The writing is atrocious)

Of course George is now judge and i Can set my watch by ross being before him or the sappy brothers in no time. So obvious. Snake eating its tail.

THEN ross goes to France to rescue a prisoner of war! Ok, It's absolutely ridiculous. He lands and everyone Is being beaten and killed in front of him (the writer and director lay it on thick) And he Of course reacts by sitting in the local bar, openly handing a spy money for everyone to see multiple times. A Waitress warns him openly and he Of course flirts with her and then ignores her. I think I audibly groaned at the writing.

But alas,? It gets even more DUMB!! Previously he was painted as somewhat clever but impulsive. However, Now he just gets duuuumb. He then gets busted by the police and they tell Him if he doesn't leave France he'll be executed....so he tries to bribe them and then just SITS IN THE SAME BAR OPENLY?!?!

And what do you think happens?

Yup. Almost dies. Huge bar brawl, barely escapes with his life. Yawn.

I was hoping the French do away with him and demelza can find a man with some sense or the series can just end. But of course he's the lead of the show so we know he won't die, it's just how much the writers want to make me roll my eyes.

It's become a bad soapy (it was always a soapy). Every character is one note! They're all trapped by these lazy writers:

Demelza is fighting for women's lib, the saucy Irish gal.

Ross is a rogue maverick.

George is a charicature of an "insecure evil man".

Elizabeth , (is that her name?), is just vapid only. Never an interesting moment.

Verity is acting but in a small role playing the goodly gal.

Can someone please play a real person for one scene and do Anything interesting? Ross ans Demelza used to buy their in a gerbils wheel now.

Caroline is an exception. That actress makes a meal out of every line and is so alive. She's great!

I'm so bummed as this was kind of a silly romantic frolic. It's now just bad.

I feel sorry for (some of the) actors. Others need to go to a class.

I LOVE old classic movies. I couldn't believe I hadn't seen this one!

Aaaand It's excruciating.

First of all - gene is a crazy stalker from the first scene. It's creepy. There's an entire city of gals but he Sees her at the next table, while with other people, and turns His chair and gawks in the most obnoxious manner. Auper weird and super rude. And she's NOT interested! He then proceeds to get even more obnoxious! Like, dangerous call security level weird. She tells him to go away, as she should.

Then he shows up are her work!!

It's not cute. It's ....really creepy.

He makes a sort of "joke" (?) by pretending to drink perfume and the Poor actress has to giggle and says She'll go in a date with him. Wtf?!

She's got a great boyfriend who's attractive and successful and hid Her in the WW2 for five years risking his life! But Gene drinks parfume and she's In!

Do NOT get it!

And in The mean time, genes got this beautiful wealthy gal that he's being horribly rude to.

He's just an unlikable guy!

And mentally Unstable.

He says, I don't even know her but I have to be with her all the time"...um, that's crazy town.

He then confesses undying love to her! After knowing her 2 days and seeing her 3 times. (#paycho).

So responds by saying she's getting married and I'm Just praying for her that she gets away from gene! It was like watching a car crash knowing the film makers aare somehow going to seal this galaxy fate with gene.

Then (I'll be brief to not have to relive another evidence of gene's personality disorder sequence) basically gene is just super mean to the rich blond!

THEN...oh my god...is the longest most painful dance number on screen ever. It makes no sense and it Goes in FOR EVERRRRRRR!

It's agony.

THEN!

She comes back to him in the weirdest way I've ever seen on screen. Her fiancé, who hid her from Nazis, delivers her to gene with a big smile for gene and a Send off kiss for this poor girl. He's happy as a clam to be dumped for gene the night before his wedding.

Now she's got a dead broke street painter living in a shoe box who is NUTS and can Be mean.

UGH!!!

So she has a massive head wound that puts out a spreading pool of blood - she's knocked unconscious ....

But a hours later she's juuuuuust fine! Her hair is up and there Noooooo problem. Oh, except a little band aid on her wrist.

And are They going to tell us that she kille shim and cut him Up??? Instead of arresting him.

Righty oh!

How blasted dumb is this show.

This is the first season I've watched as I like thandie.

But gotta say, this is DUMB

I'm not even gonna be able to get through this episode I'm Afraid.

This is an good example of when one person shouldn't write and direct Every episode.

The Woman King (2022)

I think it's worth seeing for the acting. Viola is incredible.

The rest of it....look, days of thunder is not actually what driving a race car is like. The Last Samurai was also made up. So why should this be any different???

For me, I sure wish it had been.

It was like a marvel movie!

It could have been so much more. Historically it's nonsense. The King actually had zero desire to end slave trading. In fact he didn't end it and in Fact even after his reign his people sold more slaves than ever. And in Fact those palm plantations sold in this made up version as 100% organic free range ethical...also used slaves. But I guess Hollywood thinks people want good guys and bad Guys and anti-slavers and pro slavers. It's just dumb. I don't know. Maybe people are that dumb.

Also there was no actual person of the character that Viola played. Made up. That's fine I suppose but I highly doubt at this time period a violent tribe had any qualms about enslaving other tribes, female or no. The slave trade ended from Africa to Europeans because it ended in Europe.

(And then the French wiped out the dehomey. That's why In west Africa they speak French.)

Whatever. But when I'm watching the movie and a West African king starts saying politically now diatribe I'm taken out of the movie. The Brazilian who came to buy slaves was also so much more interesting in real life. He traded Africans and lived in Africa, had African wives and followed dehomey customs! Fascinating. The move version character was as flat as I was when I was 9. Why do people have this obsession with cleaning up human history?? It's actually so much more layered and complex And messy AND INTERESTING Than Hollywood will allow. So childish and lacks Artistic integrity, it's cowardly and well, lame.

I'm weary of overly polished action flicks. I hate being treated like I have the intellect of an 8 yr old. Im all grown up and think truth is much more interesting than this kind of fiction. Huge Hollywood studios are terribly scared. I would be too if I forked out 200 million dollars, but I'd rather have some integrity and entertain while elevating Life with understanding of humans true history. Or I'd rather just give 200 million to end the current ivory trade and feed Kids.

But viola is fabulous!!!

Longshot (2001)

But after watching this movie for 46 minutes with my jaw dropped, utterly fascinated by how this could even be made, and with this Caliber of talent...is mind boggling.

She is NOT any official in ANY government.

The writers may have wanted to google "secretary of state" and might Have noticed that SOS tend to be very very very busy for one. She works very very very little. It's terribly curious. Maybe the writers didn't know what the Secretary of State does?? Maybe they thought she was actually a secretary?? I also suspect that she would be the youngest SOS in history and also The most beautiful politician ever. So miscast. Right now I'm watching a very very very long montage of the two of them just hangin out. No work. Getting ice cream, watching TV, walking the streets like tourists. SHE NEVER EVER WORKS!!!

And he....is a moron. Which is his thing as an actor. And he's good at it but in this case its absolutely stupid.

So we've got a gorgeous SOS who never works and a Stoner goofball helping her run for president????

My good this is DUMB!!!!

OMG they just got attacked in some city and it Is so preposterous as she has one security guy. Are they actually going to try and romantically Link them?!?!

That's just ridiculous.

I mean, in real life would they date...?maybe....?? On screen in these roles it's actually almost cringe worthy.

She's like hot for this guy. Why??

Can't wait to Molest him. Why???? He has done nothing to be enticing to a woman who would be an actual SOS.

I just watched their sex scene. I think I'm gonna be sick. That was so forced. Two actors trying to make it work and it DOES NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Virgin River (2019– )

He's sexy. She's whiny. The writing is on the nose.

ON. THE. NOSE.

Some of the dialogue is painfully rote.

"You big city folks come here telling us little city folk you think you know everything" kind of thing, over and over.

The lead gal is ....well, complains a lot.

The music tells us when the writers think they wrote a touching bit of dialogue.

It's just so Pat. Big city jaded by the book nurse in recovery from loss moves to small town to work for a maverick doctor. Yawn.

The perfectly matching tendrils should have a show of their own.

The trees are pretty.

The bartender is super sexy and the Best actor on the show.

Just not sure I can stomach the tendrils and the music waiting for the nurse and the bartender to hook up. That's all we have to look forward to.

Someone should start a drinking game where every time hope tells the doc that she needs this sassy big city gal around and calls Him an old goat you take a drop of whisky. A drop because you'll be passed out drunk in 2 episodes.
