6 Underground (2019)
The problem with This Michael Bay film is Michael Bay.. Again.
This is the same regurgitated Mike Bay we have grown to loathe. Leave it to Mr. Bay to make me hate Ryan Reynolds. I didn't think that was possible. This film would work if you cut out all the dialogue and just made some kind of sexy Gymkhana video for a cologne company. Whoever signed off on the soundtrack should be ashamed of themselves.
I quit.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
Really, really bad.
I'm fully aware that this is a Godzilla movie, but... Wow. That was hot trash... if you can watch it for free I guess that's cool. It took me almost all day to get through it because I kept getting bored. Only reason I finished it was because I rented it on amazon and couldn't NOT finish it. But, whatever..
The Twilight Zone (2019)
I find myself wanting to like this more than I do.
I spent every episode waiting. And that's it. I just wait for something that never happens. Casting is good and the acting is on par, but the stories are just... blah... Hopefully they can get some better stores in future seasons.
Black Summer (2019)
Fast paced and entertaining from start to finish.
There are a lot of unfair review on here. I think people are so used to cliché movie formulas they reject anything different. Although this series does take quite a bit from other stories it is VERY different from any other zombie movie I've seen. It's viciously fast paced from start to finish. No one has any time to think, fall in love, or even bond beyond a purely primal level of human survival. There were a few times found myself yelling at the TV because of the decisions being made but I believe it to be part of the tension that the pace creates. There were a few scenes and settings that I don't feel served the progression of the plot but no series is perfect. I'd recommend and I'll tune in for a 2nd season.
The First (2018)
Hear me out.. I thought it was a great series..
I'll keep it sort. I love sci-if action/thrillers. But this really made me appreciate the science fiction drama. There aren't any laser ray shoot outs or aliens running around so might not be for you. This series takes a huge look at the cost paid in the name of exploration by the toll it takes on these characters and their families/relationships. The acting is STELLAR. It's worth watching for that alone.
If you go into it with cliche sci-if expectations you'll be disappointed. So I'd recommend viewing if you're into a much more deeper emotional experience.
Beyond the Reach (2014)
I set an all time personal record with this movie
This movie is so bland I was able to predict the ending with the first 2 minutes. The characters are forgettable, Michael Douglas is far from believable and the story line is something out of a bad B movie. Except this is a bad B movie. The best part of this movie is watching a weird Mercedes SUV vroom around with sound efx that were taken from a Harley Davidson on a steroid meth cocktail. If you want to watch some no-name walk around the desert half naked while Micheal Douglas drinks scotch, go for it. Make sure you have your phone in hand so you can scroll through FB or IG while this borefest is looming in the background. There are way better movies to Netfix and chill with.
