A witty comedy that will keep viewers laughing throughout...
19 October 2003
Going into this film, I personally didn't know what to expect. I wasn't really expect anything great, but what I found what a witty sense of humor that was constant throughout the entire film.

Among the 72 tenants staying in an old house, turned apartment complex, each tenant had a significant role in the film. Focussing on a large cast of characters, the "72 Tenants" was very reminiscent of old comedy sketches (filled with several substories, but each relating to a larger plot).

Following common Chinese values, this movie challenged viewers to stay together in all situations, while satirically mocking authority; encouraging viewers to question society morales.. not just to believe in what they're told, but go on personal judgement.

Among the pediophile politicians, the crooked cops, and the greedy landlords... the tenants had their hands full, but always found a greater con to pull...

The Monkey King (2001– )

A movie that butchered a legend, and insulted a culture.

Loosely based on one of China's greatest stories (A Journey to the West, also known as the "Monkey King"), the Lost Empire was a horrible rendition which insulted a rich culture.

Moving past the bad acting, cheesy action sequences, and the slow, lengthy story; the Lost Empire continually butchered China's legends and heroes.

Many of China's heroes and gods were wrongly portrayed as either villains or imbeciles... most insulting was the portrayl of Confucius as a devious worm who had nothing but disdain to the heroes...

I was waiting for the release of this film for quite some time, and when I got the chance to finally see it. I was not disappointed. While the movie first plays off as a "lighter" film, in the end, the dark side of the film is enough to 'spook' most watchers...
