Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Children of the Comet (2022)
Noone is mentioning the prime directive?
Definitely not bad, reminiscent of star trek, more so than std and picard, that's for damn sure. Still this one? Adhering to the prime directive would have made this episode very short... also the crew is giving off a bit too many vibes of unprofessionalism somehow. Still giving the rest more chance.
Star Trek: Voyager: Juggernaut (1999)
a few questions
-what was the core worker's motivation? He didn't seem like a deranged person, but one hell bent on revenge, however he could be held a conversation with, as seen in this episode when B'elanna confronts him about the possibility of killing innocents (other ships in the vicinity) along with his crew. Not to mention the fact that he signed up for the job knowing the risks, not counting the fact that survived because his body aadpted so he could be at least earning multiple lifetimes worth of fortune as a core worker who is infinitely resistant to theta radiation.
-when talking about the Malon homeworld and the work the controller does and not particularly liking it, Torres should have offered to share their own technology for recycling (again), probably not every Malon is as greedy as the first one we met in the night episode, it seems a lot of them do not fancy spending half a year tending to toxic waste.
Also, as a previous reviewer mentioned:
-why didn't the away team use EVA suits, but instead rely on inoculations?
-it seems there is a time constraint as far as the inoculations' lasting effect goes, but they bring more with them, so what's the point?
Star Trek: Voyager: The Fight (1999)
cut it some slack, will ya?
I'm at this point re-watching Voyager and, reading all these negative reviews I tried watching this episode paying more attention, giving it a chance.
My opinion is, if you make the effort, it's not so chaotic, even though it IS a bit chaotic, but there are a lot of TNG episodes that felt this way earlier many years ago when I saw them (a re-watch is scheduled after Voyager).
Anyway, I can see how the writers wanted to tell this story and it can be followed, it's not a bad episode, it's like a longer prog metal song, you need to listen to it a few times to be able to understand and appreciate it.
Especially comparing the experience to the previous episode, which I skipped deliberately because I hate it, it's a waste that the duplicates die and nothing remains, the probe with the data they've gathered over their lifetime is lost, as if they had never existed, like, ever. So it's a waste of time for me to watch it.
This one at least has some depth added to Chakotay's shallow-ish character.
