Chikku Bukku (2010)
A pathetic remake of a class South Korean movie
Recently when I saw this movie in TV, it left me wondering how such a nice story could be messed up? It was only today I watched the original (The Classic "Keulraesik") released in 2003. After watching few scenes I realized that Chikku Bukku was inspired by this movie. That answers my question how this movie at least had a good storyline. I would suggest people to watch the The Classic "Keulraesik" rather than Chikku Bukku. The movie really is a classic one. Anyways since I'm reviewing Chikku Bukku, let me comment about the performances. Arya as always is impressive. He is one promising star and lives upto the expectation in this film (He has done his best to make this movie a watchable one). Shriya's acting was horrible. Preethika Rao was good. Music by Hariharan and Lesley Lewis was not upto mark. Pathetic script and direction.
Enthiran (2010)
Iron Man of Indian Cinema
Happened to watch this movie yesterday. I should say that the movie has exceeded my expectations. Shankar has scored big time with this amazing movie. The movie basically has a very thin storyline. But it has taken Indian cinema to the next level in terms of graphics and technology. 1st half of the movie is entertaining. 2nd half is a bit dragging initially, but the last 40 minutes is visual treat with about 1000 Rajni's rocking on screen. Shakhar has done a neat job. Not even a single scene seems to be inspired from a Hollywood movie. Shankar deserves special applause for his imaginations and his ability in bringing them successfully on screen, especially the graphics. Unbelievable graphics never seen before in Indian cinema. Though I always admired Rajnikanth as a performer, rarely I've seen him on screen as an actor. After a long time, may be after Thalapathi I once again saw the actor in Rajnikanth shining. He was amazing as Dr.Vaseegaran, Robot Chitti and Chitti version 2.0. All three characters were very much different from each other and the Superstar has done an unbelievable job. Chitti version 2.0 will be a treat for Rajni fans. Considering the amount of effort Shankhar has put in, I feel A.R.Rahman hasn't given his best. That was a pain for a die-hard ARR Fan in me. But it is a fact that no one other than ARR in Indian film industry could have brought in at least these songs. Anyway he scores big time with the BGM in the second half. BGM for Chitti version 2.0 and climax symphony BGM(a variation of Arima Arima) are great stuff. Typical ARR stuff. Song picturization was not great as previous Shankhar movies. But watching the song Arima Arima on screen is a pleasure. Overall I would call this a perfect Indian masala movie with superb graphics which can easily be called Iron Man of Indian Cinema.
Elsamma Enna Aankutty (2010)
A Decent Family Entertainer
Elsamma Enna Aankutty is a fun filled ride with Lal Jose elements in it. The Director is backed with a neat script which could have been better when it comes to the emotional content. A thin storyline though is made an interesting watch by excellent performances. Kunchacko Boban comes up with his best performance. Looks like Lal Jose has successfully brought out the actor in Kunchacko. Ann Augustine portraying the title character Elsamma has done a good job considering the fact that the movie is her debut. The best performer from the movie is definitely Indrajit who steals the show with a performance hard to be missed out. Jagathy and Suraj handles the comedy track well. Cinematography was really good. Songs are pathetic though they are visualized well. Vidyasagar's absence was felt in the songs and Background score. On the whole, the movie is definitely worth a watch and strongly recommended for family audience.
