Moulin Rouge! (2001)
10/10
Spectacular Spectacular!
25 January 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Bohemian revolutionist Christain falls for sexy singer Satine in this beautiful, fun yet heartbreaking tale of beauty, truth and above all else, love. The story follows Christian moving to France to be in the midst of Bohemain revolution, to write about love. The only problem? He has never been in love. He gets involved with a production called Spectacular Spectacular, a truly Bohemain play about love conquering all else, but needs to get permission to write the play from Harold Zeigler, the owner of the Moulin Rouge. In order to do this, he must meet Satine, posing as a famous English writer and convince her to talk to Zeigler about him writing the production. When she mistakes him for a rich duke who's keen to invest, she seduces him and falls in love with him. They then embark on a beautiful love story, but this can only result in heartbreak... This is a beautiful tale that you cannot help but fall in love with. The music is contemporary and sung beautifully, the acting is superb and the storyline is enjoyable and very believable. All in all, Moulin Rouge is a gift to musical lovers everywhere.

Vampires Suck (2010)
2/10
vampires suck sucks
2 November 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I really thought i's enjoy this. I mean, i am a twilight fan, but i thought that this could be a really funny spoof. I was bitterly disappointed. Not only is it really short, but it is simply a mix if the twilight films with no proper plot at all. There are some funny moments, and yes i did have a bit of a laugh when Jacob turned into a chiwawa and when Becka maces Buffy the vampire slayer, but most of the really funny one liners were ruined by the lack of plot and lack of decent acting. If you really hate twilight you might like it, but if you are a fan do not go and see it it will only annoy you. It's a waste of time and money to see this ridiculous film.

Iron Man (2008)

Iron man rocks!
8 September 2010
Warning: Spoilers
So, i did this in the wrong order. I went to see the brilliant iron man two before i saw iron man one, which makes no sense. Iron man does not disappoint. With dark and light humour, action and a small smidge of romance, this truly epic film is definitely one to watch. The acting is also very good, with the gorgeous Robert Downey Jr playing the rich Tony Stark of stark industries, who after being help captive in Afganistan with the very weapons he created, decides to make a very special suit to stop war once and for all... All in all, a brilliant film acted out beautifully with a fantastic story line. I would give this movie a ten out of ten!!!!!

tense, imaginative and so, so sexy.
16 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
So, it's another vampire film. Yawn, right? Nope. This film is a perfect mix of the surreal and paranormal image of vampires, and a dash of the humane. The acting is perfect; Cruise and Pitt out do themselves in the lead roles. The plot is believable and you easily become involved with it. Personally, i love this movie. You can't fail to fall in love with this film. It's a must for vampire fans everywhere. It is as brilliant as twilight; if not, more so. The vampires are sexy and evil, while the humans seem vulnerable and breakable. You get to see the paranormal vampire world from the perspective of a vampire and that makes all the difference.

Let's do the time warp again!!!
13 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I knew it. I knew this film would be fantastic! I have never enjoyed a musical more in my life!! Tim Curry is excellent in this film and the time warp is probably the best dance from a movie ever!! A lot of people i have spoken to did not enjoy this film. They said watching Tim Curry run around in a suspender belt is not entertainment. I beg to differ. They also slate the plot. Can i just say that anyone who takes the plot too seriously are morons, to be honest. Come on! Take it as a laugh, if a disturbing one. How many rocky haters can really justify their reasons for not liking the time warp??! I like the plot. It's none too believable, but it's a lot of fun. Also, Meatloafs appearance is fabulous. All of the acting in this movie is perfect. Ten out of ten!!!

Dorian Gray (2009)
9/10
Imaginative, compelling and so, so sexy
7 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Well, i must admit i am surprised. I thought this was going to be a horrendous take on a brilliant story. Actually, it was unbeatably cool. It was full of ideas of social class delusions of the young, mixed with the bittersweet beliefs of the more mature characters. Murder, malice and questions about life after death, this film deals with the issues that most people don't like to face. It is also incredibly sexy, as the eternally young, beautiful Dorian Gray steals the hearts and lives of the women he meets. Enter Colin Firth- a good actor in the best of times, brilliant here. It takes a lot to take sexist ideas, such as women are there to sleep with, and make them amusing in a way that even makes me, a proud feminist, laugh. That is the beauty of Firths acting. He is incredible. This film is a truly beautiful, imaginative, sexy movie and i would recommend it to anyone. Except me grandparents. Obviously.

Very clever.
7 July 2010
Well, well, well. Very clever. take one unpopular kid with weirdo mates, a bucketful of dreams and a love interest, and you come out with what should have been a very good film. It wasn't the worse film i've ever seen. I enjoyed it in parts. But it's like if you've ever been promised a really brilliant night out by your partner and he then takes you for a drink in your local, a Chinese take away and then, just to add insult to injury, asks you to pay half. Girls, you know what i mean. The point is i was so incredibly disappointed with this movie. It should have been great, something along the lines of nightmare before Christmas or even the corpse bride. It just wasn't. Watch it and decide for yourself. It wasn't the worse. It was just disappointing.

So brilliant!
2 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Shrek and Fiona are heirs to Far Far Away. Wait a minute, what?! An ogre in charge? I love the idea personally, but i'm sure mayhem would be an ever day occurrence. So, very sensibly, Shrek goes to find another heir. A good thing too. Artie is lovable, just like the poor little unpopular kid in cheesy chick flicks, you pity and love him. Donkey has his baby dronkeys, which are beyond cute, and Shrek has some on the way. Wow. Scary thought. The acting in this movie is fantastic and the story line is brilliant. The hard core Disney princesses make for laughs a plenty, for example there is a brilliant twist on Snow White's relationship with animals. So go to see this film and any one who slates this movie needs to go and buy themselves a decent sense of humour. No offence.

ogres rock!
2 July 2010
I remember seeing this when was little with my family. We were on holiday in Whistable, i think it was, and it was raining so we decided to got to the cinema. We almost saw something else, but after much arguing we agreed on seeing Shrek. Now, how pleased am i that we did that?! I'd never seen a film like it, it's funny beyond belief, the characters are brilliant and basically this film is genius! Even now, years on, i enjoy getting a cup of coffee and a chocolate bar and watching shrek with my family. It's a hit with all of my family, and it's safe to say that i haven't met someone who doesn't like it. The idea of trying to find a happily ever after is something that has been played with for a long time; Only shrek, for me, does this in o convincing, hilarious way. I love ogres now. Just as well really. Because most men are ogres... Jokes!!!!!!

shrek 2-oh yeah!
2 July 2010
So, i saw the first shrek movie while on holiday and loved it. I was worried when i saw this that, as with a lot of sequels, shrek 2 wouldn't be as good as the first. After all, how do you improve an already brilliant movie?! But it was fantastic! Not only are the old, brilliant characters like Donkey still in this movie, but we are introduced to the funny, adorable puss in boots. Whom i love entirely. The storyline is not as good a the first but i still got completely involved with it and loved the characters entirely. It's impossible to hate this movie and i'm yet to find someone who doesn't like it. This film is completely awesome and love it if you dare!

Men in Black (1997)

Do't take this so seriously!
2 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was never meant to be taken seriously. People who try to find the meaning and morals of the film are simply wasting their time. There is no moral! It is simply a very funny film, starring a very funny man (Will Smith). I mean, come on. The idea of Elvis not being dead, just gone home is ludicrous. Sorry, Elvis fans. That probably hurt. But it's true. Stop wasting away your time taking this film so seriously! It has a very funny plot, the characters are very funny and as for the men in black song at the end! That is very catchy and funny and you'll be humming it for days after seeing the film and i know that if you just sit back with a pint and view the film as a lighthearted comedy, you will enjoy it!

We got Annie!
2 July 2010
I hate it when people slate this film. When you actually watch it, it's very entertaining with some brilliant locations and believable characters, reflecting the issue of being an orphan and being very sweet, too. It makes fans go through many emotions, including happiness, terror, and sympathy for the poor little orphan girl. So don't diss it until you try it. Really, i think it's a beautiful film with very sweet characters and the evil orphanage woman (i know, technical term, that) makes this a film to watch again and again. So where can i get a copy?!! Jokes. I already have it. So watch it and try your best to not fall in love with the sweetest, funniest little red headed orphan of all time-Annie!

Elves, orcs and hobbits
2 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I have read the lord of the rings and loved it and usually i'd prefer a book to a film. But this is some thing else. The action, the adventure, the battles... Aragorn, tall, dark and gorgeous, Legolas, tall, blonde and beautiful, Arwen, the prettiest girl i've ever seen. Plus, the evilness (yeah, technical term) of the orcs and the betrayal of... watch and see, i'm not telling you that much! But the acting is unbelievable, the sound track magical and the plot comes so close to the book, i probably enjoyed it more than the book. This film is genius. The locations are to die for as New Zealand is beautiful. The acting is perfect and the plot is to die for. Watch it and lose yourself in middle earth!

Vikings have never been so much fun!
2 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I learnt about the viking a long time ago, when i was much younger, with an incredible teacher i'll never forget. Now, she made this topic interesting, with movies and comic strips and silly songs (she was brilliant as a teacher, if a bit of a nutter) and so, one day, when i found an old viking film in the attic, i thought i'd give it a go. I wasn't expecting what i got. Vikings, setting out to find Valhalla, with some very funny moments and a longing for the sun. Of course, this film would be nothing with out the comedic factors and 5 star performances by some terrific actors and actresses, but the story line is one not easily forgotten and always loved. This is great for all genders and ages; a beautiful mix of humour, violence, history and love, with a touch of the paranormal just to mix it up a bit. What really sets this film apart is the hilarity of the mission the vikings go on and, of course, the sinking island affair. Never thought islands could sink away? Think again. This is a perfect film for everyone to enjoy.

Ghosts have never been cuter!
2 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Do you like a good weepy? Do you enjoy watching films that will make you value life and love forever? If so, Ghost is definitely for you. If not, watch it anyway it's brilliant. This film is everything a good film should be. It's full of dark morals about greed and hell and full of moments that will make you weep. Packed with action, romance, tension and some dark humour, this is a film that will absolutely have you enthralled from start to finish. Plus, you will be thinking about it days after you've seen it. If you are in a relationship, it will make you value it above everything. If you're not, it will make you value your closest friends, as Whoopi Goldberg plays the psychic that gets a bit more than she bargained for and makes a terrific friend for someone who has just lost the love of her life. This is a film for all genders and there is no way that you wont fall head over hills for this beautiful work of genius. 10 out of 10. Brilliant!

Mamma Mia! (2008)

Mama MIA... here i go again!
2 July 2010
I have often heard it said that Mama Mia is for gay men and "mature" women. I can assure you that i am neither. In fact, i am a teenage girl. Now, it is a common misconception that all teenage girls spend their time watching freaky Friday and equally predictable chick flicks. Please let go of that belief. That's it, let it go... Good. Not i can tell you what i thought of the film. Being a huge ABBA fan (well, it's that or girls aloud) i was very much looking forward to this film. Meryll Streep is so talented that i knew this film would be an instant hit. It certainly was with me. Brosnam et al were absolutely fantastic and although there were a few murdered ABBA songs, it all added to the fun, light feeling of this movie and you know what? I am proud to say that i sang along with every badly sung song in the film (even though it wasn't a sing along showing.. the other people watching weren't impressed with my excellent performance, for some reason) and it has sky rocketed to become on of my absolute favourite films of all time. Dare i say it? Yes. I enjoyed it as much as "Grease". There. said it.

Grease (1978)

Grease is the word!
2 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Is it humanly possible to watch Grease and not fall for it completely? I first saw it when i was but a little girl and it had me singing "we go together, like..." for days and days. Musicals are such a brilliant part of the film industry, but sometimes the plot is overshadowed by over done, unbelievably bad music and actors and actresses who don't seem to be there for any reason other than the money involved. But then you watch Grease and you understand what it's all about. BANG! Music, tension, romance, car races, brilliant plot... Need i go on? Olivea Newton-John is so talented and so pretty, while John Travolta is the guy of every girls dreams from that time; Bad boy, with a good heart and over styled hair. So, it is the best musical of all time. Even men can like it with out being accused of being gay. And that's saying something. Grease is the word!

Marley & Me (2008)

i want a dog!!
2 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
So it has Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson in the leading roles, plus it's about a dog. Am i the only one that wasn't bothered about seeing it when it came out? But my mum bought it for me on D.V.D so i watched it. I have to say it really is fantastic!!!! Everyone always remembers how sad it is, but i laughed all the way through this movie. And Marley... Awwwww! Such a cute little thing!!! I don't own a dog myself, but after seeing this film i definitely want to. A dog is, after all, a woman's best friend. This movie encapsulates everything that a dog is to its owner. The good times, the bad times, the mess, the love and hanging out with the only one who doesn't care what you look like or how rich you are. Jennifer was a brilliant leading lady, acting with such conviction, and Owen Wilson was such a good leading man! The storyline is very honest about what it's like to own a pet and be married with children, but it includes some very funny moments as well. Overall this is a brilliant movie to watch on a girls night in, or to snuggle up with your partner and watch. It will make you value your partner, your life, your career and, of course, your dog.

Forget step up, it's over!
30 June 2010
I don't really like dance movies. Dirty dancing has its brilliant moments, but that's generally my limit. So when was forced to see street dance 3d I was very depressed. But surprisingly i loved it! It was very enjoyable with brilliant dance, storyline, tension and romance. You don't get much better than that! It isn't as good as the great dance movie, dirty dancing, but it's better than all the other mediocre dance movies, like step up, you got served and honey all put together. Girls, drag your boy friends to see this film- he'll hate it with a vengeance, but if you like dance, tension and romance, you'll love it!

stop crying!!
30 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I really hate the titanic. Yes, it's full of romance. Yes, it's a real life tragedy. But please people, stop crying at it because it's a crime against film!! I don't care if soppy, romantic types did spend their entire weekends crying after seeing it, GET OVER IT! It's not that good and no, i did not cry. Ghost made me cry. Bambi made me cry. Reading true life accounts of what happened on the titanic made me cry. But the film? It is so bad that i cried more at Marley and Me! I wish that they'd just hurry up and get to the part where the ship sinks. Honestly. They completely romanticised a terrible event. So my verdict- Titanic is over. Watch Ghost instead.

The best Jim Henson film ever!
30 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
O.K. I know it's a film with puppets and Bowie dresses like and eighties reject, but come on. This film is absolutely fantastic!! Bowie, playing the Goblin King, it the bad guy that you know you should hate... but you don't. Maybe it's because of his love for Sarah, or perhaps it's because his music is the best music in the world (really, buy the sound track, its incredible) but there is something that makes you fall head over heels for this film. After all, at one point haven't we all wished the goblins would come and take out annoying siblings away? Be careful what you wish for, or a tights wearing glittery David Bowie and clan of puppet goblins just might. This is one of my favourite films of all time and yes, it is better than the "Dark Crystal". Watch it- i dare you not to love it!!!!

not the best, basically.
30 June 2010
When i heard that the lovely bones was being made into a film, i couldn't be more excited. i've been wanting to read the book for a long time and i decided to wait and see the film first. Now, i liked it; it had very good moments and some of the actors were brilliant. The sets were bearable and the plot was interesting. But there was something missing. Perhaps there was not enough suspense or believable characters, but something wasn't quite right. If you enjoy films that are basic and easy to follow, then you will love this film. If your more of a Agatha Christie person, then you will be very disappointed. Overall a good film- but not the best by a very long way.

sex and the city 2
30 June 2010
i really liked this film. i'm not really into chick flicks, but my friend made me watch it and surprisingly i loved it. it's got great locations and real life issues of culture, making it a realistic, yet hilarious, account of holidaying in certain parts of the world. Of course, not being a chick flick kinda girl means that i didn't enjoy this movie as much as avatar or clash of the titans, but i still found myself enjoying it and getting involved in the story line. The acting is brilliant and the fashion is, as always, to die for. Personally i think it would be a great film to watch with your boyfriend or husband (whether he wants to or not) because it will make you value your relationship.

actually, i love it.
24 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Well, when i saw this film i thought i'd like it. i was wrong. i love it!! i have fallen completely for the lovable, puppy dog like mad hatter and as for the story line, i was involved completely. i am full of joy in the end when the hatter finally futterwackens... then cry when Alice makes him sad by leaving. i found myself thinking "had that been me, i would never had left him!!" well done, Tim Burton-i always love your films but you've really out done your self this time!!! I love all of it, really, from the outbursts from the march hare to the fiery, funny nature of the mouse. however, i must make it clear that the hatter is the most lovable, funny, fantastic character ever!
