Ozark (2017)
Disappointing
If any of you think this is a great story.. you're living in a fantasy world. Small redneck crime family outsmarts the CARTEL and exploits an extremely intelligent Chicago family.... Get a grip. Shotgun to the head of a Cartel Lieutenant getting a slap on the wrist is not only sloppy writing, but pathetic. Whatever keeps ya watching tho....
Ozark: The Toll (2017)
Pathetic ending to such a promising first season..
First season had its ups and downs with admittingly mostly ups... but this episode was beyond the reach of reality and was impossible to enjoy. It felt like it had the promise of cleverness, an end beyond what the viewer was able to conceive, or even a conclusion. But we were left with an unrealistic punch line. Let me clear when I say the Cartel would NEVER allow any of this to happen. The most brutal organized crime organization outwitted by a group of overly intelligent simpletons from Ozark?? Get a grip. "They have no reason to believe we'd kill em after making a deal" No, they would literally kill everyone involved for opportunity loss and make a scene out of it. Enjoy your fantasies. This episode lost track of reality in attempt to please the artistically inclined.
Watchmen (2019)
Beautiful story, with an unbelievable finish
I genuinely enjoyed the story line and editing of this series... Yet once again, HBO overthought the idea of pushing the envelope and provided their dedicated fans with an unbelievable politically correct ending. With nothing more than the intention of pleasing PC culture. Huge disappointment to an otherwise well made series. When will HBO learn how to once again end a story line that doesn't adhere to a pathetic attempt at being "progressive"
The Boys (2019)
Wildly Entertaining! Completely out of left field.
Saw a couple trailers for this show, didn't really pay attention, but liked the idea of antagonist super heroes. Spun it up on a lovely hungover Sunday and I could not be more impressed. The Boys does an amazing job of engaging the audience, developing each character, and playing with the balance of comedy and drama. Amazon struggled with their original content, but has recently put out top notch productions they should be proud of. Looking forward to more original stories 👍🏻
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
A knockout in every way!
This show is everything I never knew I needed. From the cast, to the editing, to the visuals... it is tremendous on all accounts. Mike Flanagan nails the dynamic perfectly by relying on terror rather than horror. Rest assured, there is a horror aspect, but it is used only when needed. The story is much more invested into the characters, allowing you to understand why the horror they experience is so jarring. It does slow down towards the last 2 episodes, but keeps you intrigued through dialog.
A wonderful adaptation from the book. 12/10 would recommend.
Castle Rock (2018)
Classic Steven King, but still needs a captiviting ending to the season.
First off, I am a big Steven King fan but have not read this book. When I say this is classic Steven King, I mean that he always does a great job of giving you enough disturbing information pertaining to the story to keep you coming back. Even if you aren't particularly thrilled with the the story so far, you're more than curious to find out where the plot goes.
Castle Rock is no different. It gives you enough information to know what's going on, but you're well aware there's much more to the story.
Actors are convincing, plenty of classic New England references, and Shawshank is somewhere EVERYONE is familar with. Hope this show ends as well as it started.
Oh and whover is doing music for this show is GREAT! Songs could not be chosen/ placed any better.
