Nothing new, but not that bad (might contain spoilers)
9 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Angie is doing her first year in collage. She is convinced that someone is following her, and feel uneasy about the situation. She takes a babysitter job, to get some extra cash and maybe to get her mind of things. She gets terrorized that night, and as the night goes on, the more blood gets spilled.

Its not an original story. This type of horror setting have been done before. The twist was a little bit unexpected, but not original. Something I always find so interesting about horror movies is that the main character is often an innocent girl. She is nervous, shy, kind and cute, and has survival skills close to Rambo.

These kind of movies always have their flaws, but if you watch them for what they are, without expecting a cinematic masterpieces, they are quite enjoyable. The logic fails here and there, but its still an enjoyable cheap low budget movie, as easy to forget as its cheap to buy. If you like horror movies of this kind, its actually worth two-three euros for a cheap thrill. For me its a way to rest my mind for an hour and a half!

Blood Trails (2006)

A typical, pretty unoriginal slasher movie
7 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
After attempting to save their relationship Anne and her boyfriend Michael goes on a biking holiday. After a little bit of drama, Anne admits that she has slept with another man and... right after that he gets his throat slit by a bicycle wheel (or something). I must say this is really an original murder weapon.

The filming is fair, but there is a lot of mistakes going on that anyone would notice. In one scene Annes face is covered with blood. She accidentally falls into a river, and when she gets out of the river her face is clear of blood, in the next cut her face is covered with blood again.

Despite a lot of these obvious mistakes, the movie has a decent pace, and a typical slasher theme. Enough blood, decent, but not amazing acting, and a little bit of thrills gets the movie watchable. I will not remember this one as an amazing movie. Its more kind of a cheap movie you can use to kill 90 minutes with when you are bored. In a week or so, you wont remember it, unless someone mentions the title. I wonder how many slashers of this kinds there is? This movie is not that bad, but not really good either.

Not so good "No budget movie"
6 March 2013
Im really interested in low or no budget movies that provides a genuine feeling and atmosphere. The silent house is an excellent example, because despite its flaws, it offers an original atmosphere at a minuscule budget. Another film (a short film you can watch for free on youtube)that does offer a lot of emotion in a horrifying, but comically painful way is Phantom miscarriage. Five across the eyes don't really give me anything! The story is simple, a couple of young girls, get lost, bumps into a strangers car by accident and escapes. Pretty soon they are chased by a maniac woman who tries to kill them. A typical slasher story.

Its nice that the creators of this film have made an attempts to create something unique, but wiggly camera angles, bad acting, and a plot not worked through enough gives me nothing. I saw a bunch of amateur movies made by media students, while I was studying drama, and these movies ware far better. Every scene should be worked through in a good movie. The purpose for the scene, the camera angles for the scene, and the actors should have enough time to get into character no matter how bad they are. What the movie really lacks is suspense, effects that are worked through, and a feeling of realism. They had the intent to create something, but failed. Oddly enough they worked hard enough to get the movie released!

Another slasher movie that is just okay...
16 January 2011
Warning: Spoilers
A couple of young adults are forced to spend the night at an abandonded motel, after their car breaks. There's no connection on their cell phones, and on top of that they find out the roads are closed.

Some kind of invisible evil being is lurking around them, and soon they find themselves struggling to stay alive.

This is an ordinary American horror movie, with some of the ordinary flaws and klichés. I laughed a bit at some of the flaws in the beginning of the film, but as it goes on I forgave that and found it okay to watch.

When it comes to the monster in the movie, you can clearly see that its animated digital effects of the ordinary type. For some reason I miss the effects of the horror movies from the seventies and eighties which were hand made type of stuff.

As long as you are not looking for something out of the ordinary this is an okay horror movie to watch, but its not very scary.
