What's Next for Sarah? (2014)
A Clever Way of Handling Where Miss McCurdy Stands Now
Jennette McCurdy is certainly not unaware of where she must be standing in Hollywood after all the drama from earlier this year. It is very clever that she took the point in her life that many stars before her have faced and rather let it be a negative thing in her life, she turned it around and made fun of it and turned it into a more positive thing with this new series. Written, produced, and edited by McCurdy, directed by Colton Tran, the series follows Sarah Bronson, star of a hit tween TV series that the network now decides to cancel. Upon hearing the news, she imagines which road she might end up taking that many stars have done, though not having any clue what could be next for her. The performances are well done, the scenes are shot really well like it could be on television and Jennette is able to give you a laugh each episode either with her character or her writing. It's a win-win for her. What's next for Sarah (and Jennette) is anyone's guess.
Sam & Cat: #GettinWiggy (2014)
Almost a better ending than Victorious's ending
For the last episode, there is really less Sam & Cat and more Sam & Nona and Dice & Cat. The former are roommates for the weekend while the latter are in Arizona for Dice's modeling career. Dice was sure he'd be on the cover of a magazine until a famous model comes in, who Cat believes is wearing a wig and after some attempts to remove it, she starts attacking the model and ripping out what is actually his real hair. The part where she is attacking him and ripping his hair out is kind of brutal. Sam, meanwhile, at first isn't too fond of Nona sticking around. It's typical of Sam as we never really see her actually like any adults besides Spencer or show any love for any adults like she did with her mom at one point in iCarly. But then the more Nona is there and doing some of the things for Sam, some of the things her own mom probably never did for her, the more she comes to love Nona and she doesn't want her to leave and not be roommates anymore. She gets a call from Dice about now getting the cover since the other model needs medical attention and Cat is now arrested and won't get out for two weeks unless she and Nona get there. Not wanting to lose her new favorite roommate so early, Sam pretends to Nona that Cat and Dice are simply staying there for two weeks. Obviously a lot of people are cheesed off about this finale, but for people that watched the show that couldn't stand Cat and her voice or couldn't watch the show at all for that popular reason, this is a huge treat for them. Cat had one funny moment with her stuffed animals in the beginning but that seemed to be it. As did Dice when they went to the modeling agency and he questioned what happens after we use the bathroom on buses and where does it all go. It's actually a question I think of time to time as someone who travels sometimes, I couldn't help but laugh and agree. Sadly Dice doesn't get a lot of funny moments because of whatever situation they're going through in Arizona. Sam and Nona however had gotten the rest of all the funny moments for this episode apparently. From Sam being who she is and being captivated by so much amazing food that's been cooked for her to bringing out her devious side for us one more time at the end to Nona surprisingly doing all these things for her and being so nice even around Sam, it was just all so funny and really adorable. For a series finale, it's certainly not the best. But for people that hated Cat, it's a great finale and amazing fan service.
Girl Meets World (2014)
The bad raging cult fans returns in full force!
As well as the black and white views from Boy Meets World. For its pilot it did pretty decent. Although it looks to me it could've been a short film spin-off as the daughter meets world already by the first episode while Cory did so after 7 seasons. What good things can be said about it? The little brother made me chuckle with his one scene. The chemistry between the Matthews daughter and her best friend is pretty good. The best friend seems to have great charisma and the end of the episode let it be okay for a main character to have such a friend (because in the end there IS more to someone). And the show COULD cover stuff Boy Meets World ignored. Downside? Topanga should've had a more supportive role in the pilot so her daughter could be okay with herself and Cory's SUPER annoying not letting her have space.
But with the spin-off existing means parents can AGAIN be lazy and let their kid be raised by TV and that self-control doesn't exist to them. And it means fans of the original show will be bullies full time as Boy Meets World has taught them since that show aired. Bad news guys
Liv and Maddie (2013)
Honestly the first Disney Channel show in years I actually enjoy
Honestly, I don't get any of the hate I've seen with this show. There's a couple of small moments where at least one of the actors will overact in an episode but I don't notice it too much. What honestly interests me most about the show is Dove Cameron as both twins. I wish there could be more of a sisterly bond present in the show because I saw the first episode and I found myself really loving it. I loved how even though Liv is a star fresh out of Hollywood, she doesn't come back as someone over the top, filled with glamour and attitude. That's to be a bit expected and I understand that with other characters on TV that are like that. But I just love how surprisingly sweet she is and Maddie is alright too. Her catchphrase a little but too much but it thankfully hasn't gotten on my nerves yet. The twins are, of course, what make the show. Usually you can find the side characters to be better but I just find the stars of the show to actually be the most interesting. I've watched some of the episodes out of order but I still think it's good and has a few more funny moments and I feel like it should be given more of a chance. Just because the show is colorful and isn't some "sitcom" that's really a half an hour PSA, doesn't mean it's not good.
Sam & Cat: #FirstClassProblems (2014)
If it were a finale this would be semi decent but...
As a regular episode, as it has been filmed, it's a really good one! It may be a final one since Jennette McCurdy is no longer happy with the network and Ariana Grande is more focused on her music. So Sam & Cat babysit two very spoiled kids that can only seem to do things based on their schedule. They get offered first class tickets for a flight to the Bahamas if they escort the Baums children there since not even their parents like flying with them. But they forgot to bring their timers they usually have on them and get Dice and Goomer to bring the timers to the airport. There's a couple of jokes about the airport security in this episode which I really liked such as the one security guard completely missing the man that went through the metal detector behind his back and caused it to beep. Goomer and Dice bring the timers in a bag but Goomer makes the terrible mistake of saying he brought timers for the Baums as everyone believes he means bombs. The show really felt more like one for adults with this episode. If there was any evidence that this show could also be for adults, besides the fact that Sam & Cat lived together independently from parents or have faced some problems adults do go through but in a more comical fashion, this episode was a big one. Goomer and Dice get interrogated by two people and the whole time Goomer is interrogated it's very funny! In fact, this time around, Sam, Dice and Goomer, got more of a chance to shine and make one laugh than Cat did, that's what I noticed. Meanwhile, Sam & Cat and the Baums children wait for their flight and we come across those people that might fill up the chairs around them with luggage and other stuff, Coco from Zoey 101, and then they have to wait for other people to get on the plane even though they're first class and each time they think they'll be next it'll be somebody else. I was surprised Sam never pretended she had a pet so they could get on the plane to be honest. Dice and Goomer start arguing because Goomer talking during their interrogation isn't helping either one of them at all. Goomer gets chocolate milk like he wanted ever since getting arrested and he splashes it in the two agents' faces and he and Dice take off. Sam & Cat are finally able to pass through the gate to the plane but are closed off when the airport is on a lockdown because of Dice and Goomer. And what's worse for them is everyone else that's on the plane gets to leave but Sam & Cat and the Baums children and everyone else are kept back from going for awhile. As a sudden finale, I could just say Sam & Cat went to the Bahamas and that's the last we see of them: in paradise. As a regular episode, it's still alright. I found it very enjoyable and exciting, for a last episode that may have been filmed for the show. In case things aren't patched up with everyone on the Sam & Cat team, I'll say now that this show has been a fun one nonetheless. Funny, sweet, sometimes even suspenseful and once surprising, full of throwback to iCarly and Victorious, and even emotional at times. All in one season. A big thank you to the team for bringing us a good show and one I already have fond memories based around this show. If this is the end, goodbye Sam & Cat. It was fun while it lasted and hopefully everyone can move on to great(er) things for themselves.
Sam & Cat: #DroneBabyDrone (2014)
Pretty good episode featuring Nona
While we still have the show, we get more screen time with our beloved Nona played by Maree Cheatham. The episode starts out with Cat being bored and she has to watch the news for an assignment but it bores her to death to Dice and Sam get her to go on a site where she can watch the news covered in just six minutes. That's where they hear about these drones that deliver apparently anything so they take advantage of it while they can. Having drones fly around and deliver and pick stuff up from them proves to be too much when one crashes through their window and another takes a baby they were babysitting for a night. Need I also mention that from getting so much stuff that they most likely didn't need that they barely pay attention to the baby and Nona looks after him in this episode. Let's just say it's a bit nuts what can happen when you can buy so many things and find yourself getting so wrapped up in those things. They get the baby back in the end though thanks to the help of Nona being able to make the baby laugh from falling down as it happened previously, in order to tell which baby they were babysitting. This episode also shows to me how companies can be, trying to assure that they are normally good quality despite having a bad reputation, like this delivery service in this episode. I loved Sam and Dice hanging out a little more here after the previous episode. Funny parts to me involve Sam, Nona, the nice man that works with the delivery service, the landlord, Dice, even Cat. I think everyone got a chance to shine in this episode and I felt there was a balance. And maybe this is because I loved Three's Company, but I feel like the landlord could've been a good addition to the show as well. So Sam & Cat wouldn't just be like Laverne & Shirley but for kids, but a tad bit of Three's Company...but for kids. Either way, it was a good episode and I can't wait for the next one on the 26th of April.
Sam & Cat: #SuperPsycho (2014)
Very good episode!
I always thought after iStill Psycho that the "Crazy Nora" episodes ought to be like a trilogy. And thankfully we got one. Nora Dershlitt escapes in this episode to take revenge on the iCarly gang. But wait, this is Sam & Cat. Surprisingly, Carly being in Italy is too far for Nora to take revenge on her for the moment, so she goes for the next best thing: Sam. After escaping the prison she meets up with Gibby, who we still love and miss, though I can't say the same for his lack of intelligence but it is still funny. Nora finds out where Sam is and heads to LA. She catches her seeming to love Dice a lot, and I love that in this episode we get to see that Sam & Cat do care for Dice. So Dice gets kidnapped by you know who and Nora leaves a note. They then decide to go to Nevel for answers being the evil genius that he is. Yes, Nevel Papperman also returns. We also get a cameo of Crazy Steve from Drake & Josh. Poor guy. Nevel helps them find where Nora may be and as they check some of the abandoned homes, Cat stumbles upon a horribly disguised Nora who tricks her into getting kidnapped as well. Dice and Cat are both in the bottom of a well and as Nora is waiting for Sam, the lights go out. When they come back on, Sam appears ready to save everyone, and ready for some raw chicken. Nora then proposes that she and Sam fight (as she was working out while in prison). Sam manages to easily beat Nora and throw her down the well and calls the police. She's then put away in a maximum security prison this time and Sam gets a call from Nevel who's escaped and won't tell her where he is, but that he's eating with Gibby. As a lot of people are aware, this episode pays a little tribute to Silence of the Lambs and I love it! My favorite scenes are when Sam is on the phone with Nora, when Sam & Cat meet Nevel and when Sam and Nora are finally face to face. Funniest bits from this episode I'd say is the way Sam tells Nora to give back her Dice (also heartwarming), Cat making crapples (cranberry juice with apples dipped in them) and Sam trying them and telling them they taste like crap...ples, Nevel saying why we never knew about Carly's mother, Crazy Steve being in an asylum surprisingly, Nevel saying Cat makes Gibby look like a genius, Goomer thinking he went to the bathroom but wasn't and needed help from Dice, Dice telling Nora she's only wasting hoses because she's throwing them and telling Sam not to fight since there's no sandwiches in the well if she loses, and Sam holding Maurice and a fork and saying "Who wants chicken?" when she appears. So now we've seen about every iCarly character but the Shays unless you count seeing Jerry in the blooper episode, then it's just Carly. Hopefully we could get some Victorious appearances soon. Anyway, great episode, the second half of the first season (I personally call it season 2) has been great, can't wait to see the other ten episodes.
Sam & Cat: #StuckInABox (2014)
Still pretty good
I notice with this episode there's more dialogue than there is action but when there is, of course, it comes off funny. I think Cat being stuck in a box showed that Sam & Cat is filled with tons of excitement because of Cat's energy that's expected. So when she's sealed in the box, so is that overexcited energy. But it was still a little nice seeing Cat have a deep conversation about her life to Sam. And Sam I think gets to shine more in this episode, what with Cat stuck in there. I think when Cat is on screen with her, the spotlight is more focused on Cat because, again, that vibe she gives off and the scenes would be more focused on her. But in this episode, it's more on Sam and I love it and it doesn't disappoint. A few episodes back, I mentioned what I think was Cat's funniest moment in the show. In this episode, I find Sam's funniest moment was seeing her "be charmed" by the magician and then attacking him offscreen and scaring Dice and Goomer when they think they're seeing blood on the floor. It's definitely the best part of the episode. Basically, they try getting Cat out of the box before they go ride at an amusement park that's just opening up again after an accident. They go to the magician who they believe can get her out but he never goes through with it so they try to decide to take her along to the amusement park in the end, regardless. Though they fail to notice Cat in the box having fallen out of the car. Still a pretty decent episode, the next one I know is going to be great. I can't wait for that one.
Sam & Cat: #FresnoGirl (2014)
Really nice and funny episode
Right from the beginning to end the episode was really funny. I feel like Sam got more chances to shine this time around, as everyone else did. The best parts I think were Sam with the gun she can shoot hot dogs out of, Sam imitating the man running the doll store, Cat's fudge that actually comes in handy, Randy, Goomer's t-shirt problem (and every time he said Timmy Tee which he called his lucky shirt, I thought of Timmy Turner) and the doll company over pricing everything. A girl named Kim wanted a doll and had to get a good grade on her test in order to pass. She seems to but much later she's discovered to have gotten a mark lower than the mark (or higher) she made a deal with the girls. In order for her to owe Sam & Cat back, she has to be little Randy's date for his birthday (as a way for the girls to get Goomer back after he ended up putting up fliers of himself in his lucky shirt and making himself seem as though he were missing, and the reward was a trip to Hawaii). Kim goes, reluctantly, and you might think in a situation like this something bad happens to the girl in a show like this, but that's not the case. And I love that Kim is one of the few kids they babysit that they get along with. Not like Gwen and Ruby or the girl with Poober. A really fun episode, great start after the hiatus, can't wait for the next episode.
Sam & Cat: #BlooperEpisode (2014)
A fun clip show
So naturally there isn't much to say about this episode except the bloopers are really funny. Not to mention both Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande add something to them making them even better. There's also a bit of a throwback, and a reunion. We got Mikey Reid returning aka Sinjin from Victorious, we got to see Jerry Traino and Miranda Cosgrover from Drake & Josh and iCarly, and Drake & Josh themselves. Sort of. Despite being a clip show this time around the actors not in character, you still get the feeling they still are. And here's a bonus about this episode. If you couldn't handle Cat's voice before (FYI someone in my life has a voice higher than hers), you're going to love seeing Ariana talk as herself. Quite honestly, due to my own life I could handle Cat's voice a lot better but when you watch the other actors still sort of in character and then watch Ariana using her own voice, you really wonder why Cat couldn't sound a lot more older like in the first two seasons of Victorious. But I digress. Fun clip show, loved the bloopers, and anyone that loves Puckentine will get a bit of a kick when seeing the scenes between Jennette and Ariana near the end.
Sam & Cat: #BrainCrush (2014)
A really interesting episode
This episode was about how the games on our apps can become so addicting, and ironically, it comes at the same time the game Flappy Bird has become a huge thing to so many people. This game, Brain Crush, has gotten people so addicted to it that at a birthday party, everyone minus the cast are focused on that. What makes it even odd to me is the fact that in one of the last few iCarly episodes, they mentioned on the webshow what kids love to do at birthday parties and the answer was anti-social texting. We were seeing kids on Pear Phones and in this episode we really do see kids on them. I love that episode exaggerates a little bit how the games on our phones make people like zombies and we end up seeing just that. The game ends up being so addicting that the people minus Sam that went to see Cat's one woman play are only focused on the game, even if her play IS the worst. Sam realizes there's a dojo next to the theater and manages to get the kids there to take out technology. I love how Sam is able to speak many languages apparently. In the end the cast talk about how people have gotten so hooked on technology that they've begun to ignore what's really around them...and it ends with them deciding to watch TV after saying that. But as we do see, they're not as fixated on tech stuff now compared to the other people shown in the episode. It was a really good and funny episode, no doubt and I wasn't sure what the episode was going to be like.
Sam & Cat: #BlueDogSoda (2014)
A really good episode
The episode was great, we actually saw a different side to the characters we haven't really seen, and everyone had a chance to shine and make you laugh. There is also a unique message in this episode that's pushed a little but I'll explain the story. Sam and Cat discover their favorite drink is getting taken away as it's now been banned from California. So in response, Sam tries to recreate the recipe for the Blue Dog Soda. In the scene where they discover her plan, it's so funny hearing Cat and Goomer be almost the opposite of themselves. A minute or two, they were their not-so-intelligent selves, which was also funny, given what happens. So Cat decides to help with making the recipe and she needs time to get it right. When Sam discovers that Goomer destroyed the last bottle of the soda that was left, I figured she'd be attacking Goomer for this, and the next thing you know she ends up revealing a clever idea instead of just going nuts on him: using sponges to absorb the soda so she, Dice and Goomer can all drink it. It was funny and a surprise from Sam's character and a clever idea. So Sam gets the idea to start selling the soda as a response to it getting banned. Soon, the same person they met who they discovered from was taking away all the Blue Dog Soda is now looking for the people selling it, not knowing it is them. Near the end of the first scene, this man saw their poster and wanted to leave their kid with them and now he's doing so while he finds the people selling the soda. At first though, they think he's found out their plan and it's so funny seeing Cat so freaked out, not something you see every day. You also get to see Sam spend some time with the kid they babysit and it's just her by herself. Normally Cat is the one getting involved and spending time with the kids or sometimes they all go somewhere together and that's when Sam is shown to be a lot of help with babysitting. Though we do see in #PeezyB that without Sam, babysitting can be difficult for Cat. It was just nice seeing this side of Sam, just interacting with a kid they're babysitting while in Cat's place. Meanwhile Cat, Dice and Goomer are trying to put an end to making the soda but trying to make themselves enough soda that'll last them a few years (the reason being that possible is that they only have one or two bottles a day, and the man banning the soda is doing it because some people can't control themselves, so, as the characters have said, he's taking it away from everyone else that enjoys it and isn't getting too wrapped up in it, which is why they're taking a stand against him). The man comes back and he discovers through an explosion that Sam, Cat, Goomer and Dice are the ones who are making the soda. But all four go into a speech about how they never would've done it if he hadn't decided to ban it, and try to show him that you shouldn't take something away and ruin it for everyone just because a few people go too crazy with it and have no self-control. This can apply to a lot of things. Not just sodas or snacks deemed too unhealthy (I have a similar experience to theirs but with a snack being banned where I live), but even forms of entertainment. And I love this message. I don't watch sitcoms in the hope that every episode becomes a psa, since those should be taught by parents and teachers, but I love the social commentary this and #BrainCrush have. Just because some people have no self-control over a drink or a snack or with a movie or a show or anything, doesn't mean it should be banned to so nobody else that's more in control can't enjoy it. It's without a doubt one of my favorite episodes for being able to say something that's been on my mind lately. In the end, the man sees he's doing wrong and bonds with his child during defeat (earlier he said he didn't like him) and the gang drink to Blue Dog Soda.
As I said during this review, I loved the little message towards the end, I loved that everyone always had an equal chance to shine and be more funny, I loved seeing the different sides to the characters, it was just a really good episode. It's worth the watch. This second half of the show Sam & Cat has been without a doubt full of greatness and I'm loving every episode.
Sam & Cat: #YayDay (2014)
A beautifully sad episode - Jennette McCurdy makes the episode
Maybe that's not the right words to describe it but it's something like that. This has to be my favorite episode of Sam & Cat ever. More so than even the latest one hour special. It was still funny and entertaining of course, but it got pretty serious towards the end. If you're like me who grew up with iCarly, AND you could understand Sam and her character and you paid attention to her development while also still able to love her despite her many flaws like Carly Shay did, Sam will really get to you in this episode. Props to Jennette McCurdy by the way! She's always been able to show off her abilities in other roles before her Nickelodeon days (which actually involved lots of crying based on some of the characters she played who you could obviously understand why if you look up some of her more serious roles) and she doesn't always get to show, as Sam, another side of her. Sometimes Sam shows a more heroic side of her like in #MagicATM, or even iRescue Carly and iBattle Chip (both from iCarly of course). Sometimes Sam is shown to not always be the person people are familiar with (like beauty pageants and falling in love). And at least twice we've seen Sam really sad on iCarly (and it was done for comedic effect either to not make the scene too serious or because it was just part of Sam's character to be upset about something - like working). But in this episode we get to see her REALLY sad about something. Something I think makes us laugh (for a tiny moment) uncomfortably. Cat invents a holiday called Yay Day. There's no official date, but everyone is to come over on one Saturday night and celebrate and exchange gifts. Sam is aware of Cat's snooping so she doesn't get a gift for her until she promises she won't snoop for her present to her. Cat breaks that promise and looks through a present from Sam which was a bottle of mouth wash and a bottle of foot wash (in a bottle like mouth wash). Upset with her present, she gives Sam's present away to the possibly-not homeless man Herbert (a nice black leather jacket) and gets a dirty pillow from him which she gives to Sam as a present. Sam shows after she gets the gift that she isn't too happy about the present. Everyone else gets their gifts, and the mouth wash and foot wash is revealed to be Goomer's (the tags for the present were switched accidentally), not Cat's (who revealed her anger for it). Sam gives Cat a special kind of jump rope she wanted (and a card admitting that she does like Cat despite not liking many people) and too upset to stick around, she leaves to go be by herself. Cat finds her sitting on a bench watching people trip over a crack on the sidewalk (which even for Sam, doesn't make her really crack up). Sam tells Cat that she never had any really good gifts growing up in her family such as a shovel with meatballs when she was nine (which back then she hoped she could plant a meatball tree from it). Sam realizes Cat snooped and Cat apologizes for it. The episode doesn't actually end too happily as Sam shows she's still not too happy about Cat's present to her. Watching this episode made me feel like, despite how Sam is, people should be entitled to one little bit of something that can make anyone happy. Even earlier in the episode you can see she doesn't really like presents when Cat asks her what she finds is typically special about Christmas and birthdays (she answers anything but presents). A part of me wishes I could give Sam a present. If I was a little kid and I had no clue Jennette McCurdy was the actor and Sam Puckett was just the fictional character, the child inside me would want to mail to the network a present for Sam. That's how much I love this episode. I love a lot of Sam & Cat episodes regardless of whether or not it can touch my heart, but this was by far my favorite Sam & Cat episode PERIOD.
Sam & Cat: #TheKillerTunaJump: #Freddie #Jade #Robbie (2014)
A good pay off
This episode has had people excited for some time now and you can't blame anyone who's a fan of Matt Bennett, Nathan Kress OR Liz Gillies. This is one of the few Sam & Cat episodes where we don't see them babysitting. The episode starts off though with Sam wanting to make the perfect sauce. I love how when Cat tells her she's making a lot of noise while she's doing her homework, Sam turns it around on her, making her seem like the noisy one (which I guess is true anyway). She and Dice are supposed to be somewhere while Cat is supposed to do a project with a friend. That friend is Victorious's Jade West. But Cat doesn't want her and Sam to ever meet as they're very similar and she thinks they'll kill each other. The plan is a dud and Jade's surprise from behind scares her unconscious. I love how when Jade first appears, she sees Dice and asks "What are you?" I also love how after the opening credits they cut to her still passed out and now alone in the apartment and where she fell. She wakes up and finds that Sam and Jade are friends now and get along really well and they all go with Dice to a place where he gets his prized killer tuna (obviously they don't exist but forget it) and Sam gets the idea for Dice to make money by having people perform stunts over the pool. Sam and Jade hang out more and are getting closer as friends and Cat gets really jealous. She then later gets the idea at Bots from her Nona to make Sam jealous by getting one of her friends. Also at Bots, I love how Sam starts confusing one of the robots and then Jade joins in and does the same and they destroy it/shut it down. So later on, when Sam's not looking, Cat gets ahold of Sam's phone and tries to call someone on Sam's contact list who is from Seattle. In comes Freddie Benson from iCarly, the underrated part of the iCarly webshow team. Mrs. Benson also makes a return and we remember a little of what iCarly was like from watching these two. Freddie finds out Sam's been run over and drops everything and goes to LA to see her. I love how Cat just stops drinking and drops it happily to go get the door for Freddie in the next scene. Cat starts flirting with Freddie and Freddie is really taking this well. Cat even wins him over with some Spanish, a real deal breaker. Sam discovers Freddie and again we remember a little of iCarly through watching Sam interact with Freddie and getting mad at him for coming and not telling her. With the help of Jade, Sam gets Robbie Shapiro over and sings to her the song he wrote for Cat. Everyone minus Jade is altogether and watches as Sam & Cat's friendship seems to get to the point of breaking as Sam kisses Robbie, adds a funny comment and takes the place of a daredevil who was supposed to do a stunt over the killer tuna fish pool. Later Cat shows she still cares for Sam and makes her not ride over the pool by taking her place instead after sealing her in the closet. Everyone gets together and watches the event go down but Sam gets there in time to stop Cat from doing it, but not before Cat ends up crashing into the place where the event is being filmed above - that knocks Freddie and Robbie into the pool. Sam goes to save Freddie and Cat tries to save Robbie but sadly can't think before she leaps. Cut to later and surprisingly Robbie has less serious injuries than Freddie. Sam decides to ask Freddie to dinner when he gets out of the hospital and did I also mention in this episode they both confess to others that they love each other? And in Victorious we always knew Robbie liked Cat and now it's been revealed by Jade that Cat obviously feels the same. So Cat also makes a date with Robbie. The episode ends with Freddie being forced to hear Robbie sing I Think You're Swell to him and calling for emergency. So to sum it up, it's a really good episode. Great acting, ton of funny scenes from everyone of the actors. I'd say the hype paid off. Cat and Robbie do like each other, as do Sam and Freddie, if we're talking about shipping. Aside from that, it was a good comedic hour that I felt was getting better by the minute and I was actually shocked to see the credits about to roll when we got to it. A GREAT episode, one of my favorites.
Sam & Cat: #Lumpatious (2014)
An enjoyable episode
I think it's been awhile since we had an episode sort of revolving around a kid Sam & Cat babysit. I honestly never thought there'd be another kid they'd babysit that was great like Butler from #TextingCompetition. And just like Butler, they also help him out as well. With his obnoxious brother who everyone seems to deeply hate. They have to prove in one week that the word Lumpatious exists or else they must drink his sweat. When they can't find the word Lumpatious in the dictionary, they go to a town called Oxnard and it's funny how the judges in that room seemed to be so intimidating at first. But anyway, they learn that they can get the word in the dictionary if a star or someone in politics or anyone famous uses the word Lumpatious. Cat realizes that they can get a famous pilot from the elderly home her Nona lives in to use the word but discover from Nona he can't talk anymore due to a freak accident. After they leave the poor guy's sadly given a lollipop by Nona (still funny though). Just when they're about to (sort of) accept that they lost they find the governor of New Jersey is at the drive-thru of the place they're eating at at the moment and attempt to get in the car. Cat tries making it over two bodyguards effortlessly and Sam gets in through the window from the drive-thru window. I love how they go so far to get the word in the dictionary and they managed to do so (and hey, if twerking and selfies can both get in the dictionary as I've heard recently, anything's possible by this point). The obnoxious brother has to now wear a bikini in front of people for a whole hour and the kid Sam & Cat babysit also gets him back as well. Sam I find gets a lot of laughs in this episode, as I think Jennette got to do more in this episode. Both girls and the little kid do really well and everyone did well with what they were given and I love when they have a chance to get someone in politics to say the word. I also loved how Cat compared Dice's spaghetti noodle problem to people less fortunate (but still revolving around the noodles), much like how people in real life always have to compare someone's personal problem to a bigger one affecting more people. The hated brother at the beginning reminds me of anyone that'd have a problem with the made up words used in this, Victorious, iCarly, Zoey 101, etc. And again, that kid they babysat. I love that we again get to see a kid they babysit that's pretty much easy for them to babysit and get along with like Butler. There's some kids they babysit that can be too much (who we've seen) and some kids that are easy like him and Butler. I also liked Sam showing that if you show what a word means it can be easy to remember. Pretty good episode especially after the ones with Cat going so far with anything. Now next week is the one hour special of Sam & Cat. A very anticipated episode!
Sam & Cat: #MagicATM (2014)
Pretty fun, crazy episode!
I was watching this on the way to someplace and it's sure a very memorable one. Full of those crazy fun carts, car chases, and briefly living the high life. Sam discovers Cat's been using money from an ATM she manages to get by playing the notes to Take Me Out to the Ball Game, explaining why they're able to afford so many things for themselves and the kids they'll babysit. She doesn't want to go back to juvie but Cat, already gotten more money, tempts her into shopping with her with the money, with Sam only wanting to be apart of this just one time. Later though, Cat persuades her to go for one more trip to the "Magic ATM" after getting the pills for Dice's monkey from #DollSitting. The pills get crushed, Cat gets caught but Sam doesn't want her to go to jail alone so she puts a drink down a cop's pants (played by Scott Baio). A crazy car chase ensues and the cop is out of commission and rather than simply freeing themselves and stopping the car to escape, instead Sam chases down a criminal whose wanted for $5000 and beats him down. Since they owe $4000, catching the criminal helps them pay for their crime and they avoid getting sued, and have the stuff they bought taken. Things end well regardless. This episode shows that not only does Sam seem to be better as a person with Cat or Carly Shay around, this shows Cat can be more daring and aggressive as we've seen already compared to how she was in Victorious (light-hearted, kind and bubbly). I think with Sam & Cat they bring out a side of each other we've never seen before and surely there's no more incidents with the ATM after this episode.
For the funny moments, I really love Cat's version of Take Me Out to the Ball game. It's the funniest Cat moment EVER. And the fact that others (even Dice who walks in) knew the lyrics and it surprises Sam, that was a perfect moment. Another funny moment being when Sam shoves a drink down the police officer's pants for Cat and then later chases and beats down a criminal and is spanking him. Even the kids they babysat in this episode at the beginning were really funny! The new opening credits is nice, I like it more than the first season's/ first half of season 1's opening. The ending we see Sam, Cat, Dice, Goomer and Nona altogether for the first time in another funny scene.
Good episode, great to see Scott Baio, can't wait for the next episode!
Sam & Cat: #MadAboutShoe (2013)
Great ending to the first season/first half?
I didn't know how they could pull off making a story about a missing shoe but they did it. Cat's throwing a party because there's a special event involving the moon and Sam ate all the meatballs. I love how they should a bit more of the Puckentine relationship, showing how much Sam loves Cat's meatballs specifically. There was a couple of sweet moments that turned into funny moments like Nona being invited over by Sam to spend time with her only to find out Sam wants her to make her the special meatballs and Dice freaking out over Sam & Cat screaming and being comforted by Sam only to be yelled at by Cat a second later. Sam and Cat's obsession with wanting to make more meatballs and finding the other shoe respectively made this episode really funny. The episodes based on just Sam & Cat alone I'm finding to be the best. No Goomer in this episode except briefly on the phone. And a Zoey 101 character makes another appearance in Sam Puckett's life. Poor Stacey. After all these years she's still got rotten luck and everything that happens I can find excusable due to Stacey's rotten luck in life. Anyway, a great episode to watch! Really, funny, a lot of fun, and I can't wait to see the other 20 episodes of either a new season or another half so season 1!
Sam & Cat: #MyPoober (2013)
Nice episode
This episode I found pretty sweet. Without Ariana this show would be less sweet and funny. Loved the scene between her and Aubrey about why she keeps her stuffed bear around. But I love that there was sort of a twist on moments like that. Rather than the show ending with a character typically moving on, Ellie, Aubrey's character, DOESN'T move on at all. She's as devious as Gwen and Ruby but in her own way. I figured after Cat revealed where their money was that they'd end up having their own money stolen by her. Instead it's launched into the sky and lands in a cemetery, where we find an iCarly character named Woody who worked in the Pear Store once and a DJ before that. It was funny how Sam recognized him, and both times she had a baseball bat on her, as well as when she struggled to get Poober, succeeded, and then lost the bear to Ellie again while rambling and struggling to get the bear. The whole root beer scene in the beginning was also a funny touch and reminded me of a Puckentine moment in PeezyB. Another funny moment of Sam's was when she suddenly was speaking in Spanish to Cat in the credits to express any anger she has over her. Goomer was also one of the funnier parts of the episode. I think this episode was a little more serious but overall, it was a nice episode. Funny and sweet, as sweet as this episode could be, given the circumstances. And it's one of the few times Sam and Cat don't always do so good with the task they're given while babysitting, however, it's clear that with Ellie, they're not the first babysitters to fail at getting rid of Poober.
Sam & Cat: #SecretSafe (2013)
One of my favorites
Typically in episodes like this, the two characters really bond while locked in somewhere. And that usually works when two characters aren't on the same page. So I liked that this episode wasn't like that. Loved the pee-can pie joke, and Sam and Cat's scenes while locked up were pretty fun and funny to watch. Goomer was also really funny in this episode. I love how Sam and Cat help Dice with his mother. They still punished him for locking them in but I love that they actually decided to do that. One of the many times the show is shown to be sweet and funny. Not much to say about this episode but I love it! I love episodes where it's focused a lot more on just Sam and Cat.
Sam & Cat: #OscarTheOuch (2013)
Another sweet episode
Just like the last episode, Sam and Cat also do something sweet for a kid. They have to babysit Oscar who's completely accident prone. And while Sam loves the fact that they don't have to do anything with him, Cat feels sorry for him and tries to help him break out of his comfort zone. It doesn't go well and this is another time they don't get paid for babysitting him which I've said I liked because it shows sometimes they win, sometimes they lose. But Oscar still appreciates what they did in the end because despite having gotten hurt a lot in one day, he still had fun going out and trying new things. It's a nice little message. Scenes that really stick out are the end with the message, the beginning with Cat saving an old man and not taking his money as a reward but Sam does, and the scene at Bots when you don't know what's going to hurt Oscar next. Pretty suspenseful actually. Funny episode, a really good story and a really sweet one.
Sam & Cat: #MotorcycleMystery (2013)
Alright episode
The person who fought Goomer and lost and was further humiliated by Sam returns in this episode. This episode is sort of like The Hangover to me, seeing as Cat drank some stuff that was supposed to help her, but drank the whole bottle and ended up unconscious. After having apparently cleaned off the paint left by Gwen and Ruby in the last episode, Sam now finds her motorcycle missing. And since that was a gift given to her by Spencer Shay in iCarly for always being a great friend to Carly and for becoming more of a better person towards the end of that show, Sam doesn't let this go so easily especially Cat stayed home while the others went out and when they return home. I love how at first Sam tells Dice to take it easy on Cat when it came to waking her up but when she sees her motorcycle gone she doesn't follow her own advice. Very funny part that stuck out to me. And Sam punishing the fighter from episode 7, who stole the motorcycle in revenge. Another really funny moment that stands out to me is when they watch the security footage at Bots showing what happened to the motorcycle. Cat is a lot more crazier than ever when she's on whatever the stuff was that she drank. I also love how Sam gestures to the sign at Elderly Acres ("Everybody Dyes") to show what'll happen if she doesn't get the motorcycle back. In this episode, at the beginning, we also see that sometimes Sam and Cat won't always do such a good job taking care of kids and they don't always get paid. I love that they added that. It makes it more realistic, not that I care about realism much. Good episode! A pretty fun one.
Sam & Cat: #MommaGoomer (2013)
We're welcomed back to Hollywood Arts!
This episode we learn of Goomer's real name. It's still the same except it's Geu Merr. We also find out he was adopted but before that, discovering who his mother is is really funny. Some of his mother's comments are so offensive to him but so funny at the same time. This is a very Goomer-centric episode but a good one. Dice worries that he might lose his friend so Sam & Cat actually help them with his mother. Eventually they end up going to Hollywood Arts, Sikowitz learns how Sam is like and the dialogue between them is funny, the commentary about how problems aren't usually solved in a half hour in real life and how when it usually is solved on TV it's by someone with a crazy idea who's probably crazy themselves and Cat suddenly has an idea cracks me up. Some guys follow all of them to an alley and though Sam would help Goomer take them down, she decides to hold back and let Goomer take them on himself to show his mother what he's doing is good. Everything works out and they all sort of live happily ever after. Dice has to take care of an aunt who we see in the end credits. A funny episode, an okay story.
Sam & Cat: #BabysittingCommercial (2013)
Another episode of Dice not wanting to lose someone
Sam & Cat have their first babysitting commercial released which doesn't go well. The idea of being blunt in their commercial was funny though. However a snobby family discovers a dog they lost months ago who Dice took in at the same time. The dog is attached to Dice more than the family as the family only use him for dancing competitions with their daughter, but they threaten to bring lawyers into this unless they give him back. So they manage to find a dog that looks like him which they'll let the family take instead, not knowing it's not their dog they're taking and this dog is really aggressive if he's being held. They're told by the family they can watch the competition that night and when they do the girl makes the mistake of picking him up especially after the dog wasn't dancing for the audience at all. Dice gets to keep Opey, the dog, in the end.
Cat was hilarious when she thought Danger (or Dang-er as she called the dog at the pound) was the name of the dog and responded to danger when Sam corrected her. As well as when she blows the whistle to keep a big shirtless middle aged man from hugging her (turns out she was using a rape whistle apparently which makes it more funny). Sam was funny with her jokes like calling Nona the Joker and being able to eat so much in a really small amount of time.
Sam & Cat: #RevengeOfTheBritBrats (2013)
Another episode about Sam and Cat's friendship
The girls' friendship is jeopardized when Gwen and Ruby (Sophia Grace and Rosie) return and give them gifts as an apology for last time. They're back for revenge and make it so each one is framed for something they didn't do to the other. With the help of Nona and Goomer surprisingly, they each find a way back to each other. Gwen and Ruby's little crimes are shown to have taken a step further. Last time they revealed they were once in jail at their age. This time they reveal they've killed someone before. It's really funny how much they've done at their age. Sam's love for food is always funny, as well as Cat going crazy over her bibble and then losing it. I also love the fact that we see Sam sort of maturing. We see in an iCarly episode with her mom and in this one that she is sort of in touch with her parole officer and she's taken advice from him if she ever needs to let off some steam. That's not to say Sam is a goody two shoes, but in her own way, she shows again she's getting better as Freddie Benson would've wanted as they were breaking up. There's not much else to say about this episode but it's really good.
Sam & Cat: #ToddlerClimbing (2013)
Good episode
Sam & Cat at this point have come up with a name for their babysitting service. It's so long that I don't even want to type it now. But anyway, their babysitting service is in trouble when someone makes up bad reviews which is making them lose their customers. Sam finds out from Freddie Benson from iCarly that a rival babysitting team made up those bad, untrue reviews and they confront them. Sam unleashes the butter sock, Cat shows she's once again hilariously dumb, and there's especially a funny moment between the girls and their business rivals with how they exchange dialogue. They later get Dice to play a toddler and Nona would be the person to drop them off at the house they went to. I love her singing the Big Thermometer song. It's actually catchy after awhile. Sam & Cat guide him through some tech they've placed on him so they can see what's behind a locked door they saw earlier. When he finally makes it down stairs, they see there's a rock climbing competition for babies which the boys of that babysitting service use to make money. You'd think it'd be dangerous for the little guys climbing up, but with the magic of television (shown in the Lil' Sam & Cat Show online) we see there was a way of doing these scenes without hurting the babies. The girls confront the guys, convince them to end their "babysitting service" and take down the reviews they posted. And Sam shows even her pinky alone can scare some people. A really funny episode and a really good story!
