Great true story
26 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
A true story told well. Like the movie "The Pianist", you really get a feeling of how it was to be there. Berlin, and Munich and some other German cites were quite tolerant of Gays throughout the '20's and Germany had the highest levels of education in the world at the time. From this distance it's hard to imagine how the rise of the Nazis could have happened, and movies like this make it real to today's viewers. Of course opposition to Hitler in the 1930's was not as solid here and in England as is portrayed by most of today's history books. Nor is it safe to assume that something similar could not happen again, although likely in a different form than seen among modern NeoNazis. Something that seems so right to most people at the time. It has been said that insanity is rare in individuals but quite common in groups.

The Last Ride (2011)
Autoanomaly

I've never seen "The Car Hank Died In" in Nashville, so I can't tell if it's accurate. But at one point in the film, Hank was extolling it's virtues as a "ElDorado". The first ElDorados were made in 1953. They made 503, a figure widely argued as plus or minus a couple. It's signature wrap around windshield, the first, was still an inexact science, as glass changes when it cools. The bodies were hand built to fit the windshields, and both were slightly unique. Good movie, though. Since I have to write ten lines I will add my appreciation for the curious relationship between Sir Hank and the Driver. I love Hank's music, and a contemporary reported his reading girls' dime novels and explaining that there was where his lyrics came from. Like..."Your Cheatin' Heart Will Tell On You.". Yes Sir, it will.

Interesting premise, flawed delivery

Warning: Spoilers
I can forgive the cars that are ten years old today, and the flea market laptops and the less than believable acting. Recent revelations about the Government spy networks have made some plot devices laughable (they can't track people by their cell phone locations in 2030). Snide remarks about Christianity being outlawed because it is a Hate Group leads directly to the current struggle for Gay equality, and ignores the growing number of Christian churches that accept Homosexuals under the umbrella of Jesus's love, much like He healed the Centurion's lover. Here's some news, the Westboro church, the Watchmen On The Walls, and Focus On the Family really ARE hate groups and should be outlawed for spreading manure without a license. Here's some more news. Jesus loves me and I am Gay as a box of birds. He loves you too. This is not Left Behind, it is more like North Korean propaganda.

Hard to endorse it without writing a spoiler

Warning: Spoilers
There are some real gems in here, and you won't be disappointed. There is some amateurish cheesy homemade looking filmmaking but it only adds to the fun. You will not get it if you prefer Dirty Harry to the humor of Pink Flamingos (without the randiness) and the Three Stooges with Curly (without the violence). I saw the movie after I heard the album, but it may be funnier without the preview. The real title is "Not Insane" by the way, but I can guarantee that is not a factual description. This is the crowning achievement of some truly prophetic geniuses. At the theatre it played with a few bizarre shorts like "Nasi Goring" ( Nasi, not Nazi... Nasi Goring is a South Pacific dish, which is not explained...of course.) Oh it's so tempting to quote a line or two that you will forever have wedged in your head like a wrench between gears. This should be released on DVD immediately!
