Escaping Captivity: The Kara Robinson Story (2021)
Gotta Love Lifetime
It brought a tear to my eye so it's a an automatic 10. Based on a true story with a few differences from what actually happened, yet spot on overall. I hadn't heard of the story before watching the movie which is what made it an even better experience. Acting was well done and what you'd come to expect in these kind of films dealing with kidnapping/ rape, etc and as a parent myself you can feel the anxiety in what you would go through ever having to go through such a situation.
I can't stand giving spoilers so I won't go into exactly what happens, but the execution of the film is well and worth the hour and a half investment.
The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1994)
Well I Finally Saw It.... Leatherface Meets Thriller Meets Scream?
Well I've finally seen all the texas chainsaw movies🙄.. This one i wish I hadn't seen. As a fan of 90s slasher horror movies as well as 80s slasher,I saw the reviews and wondered why it was panned so bad on Rotten Tomatoes. I also am a fan of the series and realized that I hadn't seen this one yet and am also currently playing the video game recently released in 2023. I assumed most of the negative reviews was from a generation who just didn't understand movies from my time growing up. To my astonishment after about 20 minutes I was already annoyed. It gave me the vibe of the original with the beginning narration that I love, followed by the old 90s scene of teenage kids that makes you think of Scream and I know What You Did Last Summer. After that, the ideas become absolute ridiculous. I don't like giving spoilers so I'll just say that I saw it.......
The Call (2020)
I had big Hopes
2 of my favorite horror actors involved, perhaps I had the bar raised too high. I don't like giving out spoilers, so I'll keep it simple. It's not the worst, but certainly not the best. From beginning to the middle, this film should keep you entertained. For a second, i thought I was watching a prequel to Saw blended with a sequel from the universe of Insidious.
The acting is really good as Lin and Tobin need no introduction. As promising as the script starts off, it is the ending that left me disappointed and wanting more. I'm an 80s baby and love watching films center around my childhood 80s/90s era, therefore that won me over. The script however just seems to run out of direction having had likely spent a fortune on 2 icons,a couple of good jump scares and great theatrics. Did the director run out of ideas? Nearly an abrupt end😳
Malignant (2021)
Phenomenal
Action packed and kept me on the edge of my seat. One of the finest horror slashers in a long time. Very twisted ending.
Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021)
I had low expectations.. Boy was i wrong
Very great spinoff. I won't get into spoilers but samuel l Jackson and chris rock exceeded my expectations. I honestly thought they were too funny for this kind of film. Controversial storyline that fits today's culture and truly leaves you at the end with very few questions. Spiral part 2 perhaps? Acknowledgement of John Kramer was cool and just an overall decent experience.
The Boss Baby: Family Business (2021)
Really great sequel. Better than I expected.
Watched it with the kids and loved it. Didn't have high expectations but my mind was changed quickly. Animation is great and several of the jokes were reminiscent of the first Boss Baby. A lot of complaints in the reviews but this movie was just fine with indeed a great lesson. Alec a Baldwin btw is great as always. Check it out!
Horrid Henry (2006)
If you don't like this.. QUIET WORM!
I love this show! Found it in Netflix 6 years ago and my kids love it too! Henry's catchphrases are always at the right time and hilarious sparring between him and his brother!
Siren: New World Order (2019)
I haven't Seen This Since Family Guy!
You'll figure it out when you see it. Nice twist! I nearly cried and was filled with rage in the beginning.
Embrace of the Vampire (1995)
I watched for Alyssa Milano
The film starts off with a promising good script. Beautiful young college virgin girl, hot friends, good relationship and a vampire with an agenda. Could have been much better but since it wasn't a worldwide release you get what you get out of 90 minutes. Sexual scenes are about the only standing ovation I gave here. At the same time If you're expecting carrie from king of queens, you've got another thought coming.
The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016)
You. Must. Watch. This
Had me on the edge of my seat the whole movie. The suspense and emotion is off the chart for any horror movie fan who is also into the occult.
The Hatred (2017)
What Went Wrong? ?
Nice buildup with the background. Nice fictional history to dry the least that kept you interested. ....Nice doppelganger scene....Then a complete pile of more questions then answers. Disappointment
