17 Again (2009)
Great feel good film!
I went into seeing this film without any expectations, and I can say that I was pleasantly surprised.
I have never seen the "High School Musical"-films, and although I enjoyed Zac Efron in "Hairspray", I was a bit unsure as to if I'd actually enjoy him as the lead in a film. Fortunately, I really enjoyed his performance. He was very natural, funny, incredibly charming and showed proof of genuine talent.
Another delight was Thomas Lennon, who without a doubt was the best part of "17 Again". Simply hilarious!
I have already seen it twice and will watch it again. A proper funny feel-good film that manages to balance the traditional romantic comedy ingredients with a good sense of humor, good acting and a lot of charm.
Did You Hear About the Morgans? (2009)
Better than 3/10...
I am a little bit surprised as to see the very negative comments regarding this film. While I don't, in any way, consider it a masterpiece, and although I won't see it again, I definitely do think that it deserves a better rating than a 1/10.
I was pleased to see Sarah Jessica Parker in a romantic comedy, and I think she was delightful in this film. While she didn't have any great material to work with, she was easy to relate to, quite funny and sweet. I have never been a great Hugh Grant fan, and after this film, I can't say I'm much closer to becoming one. He was very wooden, stiff and like previous reviewers have said, he had no chemistry with Sarah Jessica Parker what so ever.
The murder plot was basically just a lame attempt to try to make a typical romantic comedy film a little bit more interesting, but unfortunately, it failed miserably. The ending of the film was very flat and disappointing, and it should have been a bit shorter.
I think that it was an OK film though, there are a lot of worse films out there. Just make sure you watch the delightful Sarah Jessica Parker and ignore the rest..
