Badlapur (2015)
Waste of Time, Horrible Movie
Unfortunately wasted 2 precious hours of my life, watching this sleazy, violent so-called "movie".
Absolutely no story. Just one single plot line has been stretched for 2 full hours. Poorly written. shoddy
I'm giving it 2 stars only because of Nawazudin Siddiqui's acting performance. Rest of the star cast were just passable.
Please do not waste your time and/or money on this cinematic disaster.
Bharat (2019)
Pathetic movie, Waste of time and money!
One of the most pathetic movies I have wasted my money and time on. I am stunned to see that people have written this 10/10 and 9/10.
Weak story (there is absolutely none actually), cringeworthy music (except one song Chashni which is nice to listen to). For a change though, Salman and Katrina have put in an ok passable acting job. Though the child actors playing Salman and Sunil Grover are the standout performance, even though they have a small role.
The movie is too long, easily it could have been half an hour shorter.
I d say, do yourself a favour and skip this.
Lakshya (2004)
Amazing Movie, Very Inspiring !
I had watched Lakshya in theatre 10 years ago. Today took some time off to watch it again, and boy I wasn't disappointed. Farhan Akhtar is at his best once again. After Dil Chahta Hai, the expectations were quite high and Farhan Akhtar has delivered an amazing movie.
The transition of the character Karan Shergill played by Hrithik Roshan from an aimless, confused youngster to a determined, young army officer is really well done. Hrithik s holds his act apart, and has given an extraordinary performance. Preity Zinta as Romila was also good. Amitabh Bachchan has also a good role, and this movie is maybe one of the few in which the two legends Amrish Puri and Amitabh Bachchan are seen sharing screen space together for a few scenes.
There are many memorable dialogues in the film. Cinematography is excellent and the beautiful terrain of Ladakh is well captured. Music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy is melodious and the theme music and background score is simply mindblowing.
This movie other than being a war movie, also inspires youngsters to have a goal in life and work hard towards achieving it. There is very little war propaganda and jingoistic dialogues which is great. The war and action scenes have been shot really well.
All in all, I can say that it was a pleasure rewatching this movie, in my opinion one of the best movies of the 2000s decade. that is why I give it a high rating of 9/10, and would definitely recommend it.
PK (2014)
Lovely movie .. Excellent Stuff
PK can be categorized into the genre of comedy with a good message. Its quite a thought provoking movie and carries a good social message.
The comedy scenes in the movie had me laughing in splits. And the pace of the movie was good, and never anywhere I ever felt that the movie dragged on. Cinematography is really good, showing Belgium, the deserts of Rajasthan and Delhi city beautifully. There is a nice twist in the end of the movie, and it ends on a thoughtful happy note. Rakjumar Hirani has delivered an excellent work of cinema.
Coming to the acting, Amir Khan is outstanding as the alien PK. Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput, Sanjay Dutt, Saurabh Skhula and Boman Irani have also done really well.
Music is also very good, my favourite song being 'Tharki Chokro'.
Overall I would rate this movie as quality cinema, worth every paisa, definitely worth viewing in the theatre. It truly deserves a high rating of 9/10 !
Talaash (2012)
Good suspense movie, ending a bit fancy, but still worth the watch
This is one of the best suspense and thriller movies from Bollywood that I have seen in the recent past. Everything is spot on, lights, cinematography, screenplay, action, and superb performances by the cast. Aamir Khan is again Mr.Perfectionist in this role as an investigating police officer. Kareena also gives a power-packed performance in her role as the prostitute and Rani Mukherjee as the wife, also does a good job. Among the supporting cast, Nawazuddin Siddiqui does a brilliant performance as Tamer.
The pace of the movie is just right and keeps you hooked on till the very end. The movie also very well captures the dark underbelly of Mumbai and the red-light district with the opening song 'Muskaan Jhootein Hai'. The other songs of this soundtrack album like 'Jeele Zara', 'Jiya Lage Na' and 'Lakh Duniya Kahe' are also very good. The songs also blend very well with the movie, and you don't feel interrupted because of the songs.
However, the ending was a little flawed and slightly disappointing. Could have given it a 10/10 if the ending of the movie was better. But still, it definitely deserves a watch at the theatre at least once. You will definitely come away with a smile on your face after seeing this movie.
Chennai Express (2013)
Highly stereotyped, good SRK spoof
I watched this movie yesterday, and was stunned at the fact that this movie is doing well at the box office. The acting and expressions by SRK are horrendous at times, Thanks to Deepika Padukone, Sathya Raj and the rest of the supporting cast who put in a decent performance to save the movie. The storyline is too weak, and after sometime you feel that the movie is just drifting.
The comedy is extremely stereotypical. They depict all the South Indians in the movie as dark and ugly, and unable to understand even a single basic word of Hindi, which is definitely not the case. Deepika Padukone's exaggerated accent is irritating at times. Then the fault with the locations, they have shown Dudhsagar Falls in Goa/Karnataka and claimed this to be in Tamil Nadu. The excessive usage of Tamil dialogues in the film may not appeal to the people who do not understand the language, and you would be more involved in the movie if you could understand the Tamil dialogues.
What forced me to give a rating of 5 for this movie, instead of a much lower rating, is the spoof on SRK's previous movies, the train scene in the beginning of the movie reminds of you of 'Dilwale Dulhaniyan Le Jayenge', and more spoofs from his other movies are quite funny. Music in the movie is also good with songs like 'Titli', 'Kashmir se', and 'Tera Rasta'.
Its not worth watching this in the movie theater, Just rent the DVD and watch it at home. Its just a one-time watch, and can be easily categorized into one of Shah Rukh Khan's forgettable movies.
Vicky Donor (2012)
Nice take on an interesting theme,, Good movie
Just watched this movie today, and I must say, the initial reason to watch this movie was the music, I had heard "Pani Da Rang" on Youtube a million times and also heard that the theme of this movie is a little off-track, so I watched it today and I am quite impressed.
The movie discusses a topic which would not be openly discussed - issues of infertility and sperm donation. Well crafted story, with funny dialogues, The best performance is by the infertility doctor Chadda, played by Annu Kapoor. Amazing performance, with some funny dialogues, Ayushmann and Yami have also given a great performance for their Bollywood debuts.
The movie gets serious in the 2nd half and I thought it would end on a sad note, but it ended on a happy note, which was very nice. Other than the issue of sperm donation, the movie also shows the cultures of two different parts of the country and what happens when they intermingle.
Music is very good, "Pani Da Rang" easily is the best song in the soundtrack, but other songs like "Mar Jaiyan", "Whiskey Rum", "Ho Jaane De" are also very good and melodious to listen to.
Overall , I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone to watch it at least once. This movie definitely deserves 9/10 in my opinion.
Ramchand Pakistani (2008)
Good Documentary type film
I watched this movie a few days back. It deals with the story of a young boy who accidentally crosses the Indo Pak border and lands up in prison in India. Well directed, and well shot. Both the father and the son have acted really well in this movie. However, the movie was a bit slow at times, but that I guess is what you would expect in this type of documentary type film.
Music is very nice, especially the song by Shafqat "Phir Wohi Raste" really stands out. There are also some folk songs which are present in between which are very pleasing to hear.
Overall, a good one time watch.
Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011)
Good Comedy . one of the best 'Bachelors' movie
I had seen the long speech about girls on Youtube, thus wanted to see this movie, The dialogues were very funny and cheesy, though it may appeal only to the male populace, but still it should be treated as a good comedy.
nice acting by new faces, the best acting was by Divyendu sharma playing the character of 'Liquid'. The female leads, were just okay, Rayo was below par in the movie and most of the time was either expressionless or showing his muscles throughout the film. He was the least impressive among the cast.
The second half of the movie, was however boring, because the same kind of jokes and clichés keep repeating, and it staggers toward an emotional melodramatic end. Thus I felt the movie could have been 30-40 mins shorter.
Overall, I would rate the movie 7 out of 10. Not worth spending your money on it in the theatre, and please guys do not take your girlfriends to this movie, :)
Cocktail (2012)
Boorring second half, awesome acting by Deepika Padukone
Had the intention to see this movie for quite a long time, I had seen the first 20 minutes earlier and found it to be very funny but could not continue , Yesterday I was able to watch the whole movie,
The first half has very nice scenes, and good comic timing. The second half, however, made me exaggerated like hell. Too sentimental too melodramatic second half, and the story just doesn't continue. There is no great plot in the movie, and I felt that the running time could have been reduced by around 30 minutes. However, what saves the movie is Deepika Padukone s acting, Some of the serious and emotional scenes in the second half she has played brilliantly, especially the party scene in the club. Her acting is just a treat to watch. Saif Ali Khan has given an average performance, but this kind of role he has enacted too many times in the past with movies like Hum Tum, Salaam-e-Ishq etc. He is I feel, getting too old for these kind of roles. The newcomer Diana Penty, apart from being pretty, has put in a decent first performance, and has not got overshadowed by the other two actors.
The music by Pritam is really nice. My favourite songs are 'Desi Daru', 'Jugni' (a different genre of song but has started to grow on me ) and the Agnee song 'Yaariyan'. Overall a great album which you can listen to, independent of the movie too.
Overall I would give it 6/10 only because of Deepika's acting performance and the nice soundtrack. Good that I didn't waste my money watching this in the theatre :)
Judwaa (1997)
Funny in parts, average entertainer
I saw this movie a couple of days back. Its a good timepass movie. Salman Khan s comic timing is very good, and he plays the double roles very well a great act by him. Karishma Kapoor as Mala is also very good. Rambha was just okay, but you don't get to hear her voice in the movie. For some reason, her voice has been dubbed by I think Tabu. Satish Shah and Anupam Kher overact their comedy sometimes, making those scenes a little too slapstick and repetitive for my liking. The songs are also very catchy, especially Anu Malik's baritone in Unchi Hai Building or Tan Tana Tan.
I would recommend it to someone, who just wants a movie to chill out for a one time watch. Rent it out on DVD if you can, no need buy it because I feel you will not feel like watching this a second time. All in all, I would rate this 6/10.
Happy Days (2007)
Nice story, one of the best college movies
Sekhar Kammula has done a wonderful job in portraying college life in Andhra Pradesh. Nice story and cinematography, light-hearted movie with friendship and romance. This was the first Telugu movie that I had seen and I was pretty impressed. All the actors have portrayed their part really well, whether it be Tamanna, Varun Sandesh or the other actors. The music is amazing. If you haven't yet listened to the songs, do so. You ll fall in love with the album.
This is definitely one of the best college movies that I have seen, it may not have the big actors like 3 Idiots but still a very good watch. You would definitely like to watch it again.
Gulaal (2009)
Great movie...Kay Kay take a bow...
This has to be Indian Cinema at its best. All the characters have so cleverly crafted and written. Special mention must go to Piyush Mehra for having created awesome lyrics and songs plus having acted brilliantly as well. This being a film with a political theme was extremely well executed.
Kay Kay gives a mind boggling performance. His opening speech was just awesome. His performance as the arrogant revolutionary fighting for dominance was the best.
It was also very refreshing to see Aditya Shrivastav acting in a completely different role as I've seen him previously before only in CID as a police officer and this was surely a treat to watch. Ayesha Mohan was really the surprise package in the movie and played the role of femme fatale to perfection. Deepak Dobriyal was also good as the faithful sidekick and even Raj Singh Chaudhary as the innocent student. However, I felt that Mahie Gill and Jessie Randhawa s characters did not get adequate screen space.
The screenplay was also good with witty dialogues and captivating plot. However,I felt that the ending was a little stretched.
All in all,an amazing offbeat movie for real cinema lovers. It was not the usual Bollywood masala stereotyped melodramatic stuff. Would love to see more movies like these.Definitely this movie can be seen at least twice. Score: 8.5/10.
3 Idiots (2009)
Over-hyped Movie. Good fun for half the way
I watched this movie yesterday with my family. To begin with, I quite liked the concept about engineering college and the pressures. There were a lot of funny scenes which had the audience in splits. The comic timing of all the actors Amir, Sharman Madhavan and Boman Irani was really good. Chatur is just remarkable, what a launch for him. And when I came out at the interval i was pretty happy. I thought the film would continue in the same way in the second half.
But the second half was too filmy. I mean what was Javed Jaffry s character doing in the film? His character was most confusing and unbelievable. I felt that the romantic angle was totally unnecessary and a bit forced as if just introduced to put some masala in the flick. Had the writers stuck to the basic plot about fun in college and avoided romantic side-angles, it would have been more crisp and slick.
I thought the film would focus also on all the fun in other years, college fests labs etc. But they missed out on all that. And, the pregnancy scene could have been avoided. That was too "filmy". But otherwise, good story with a nice social message about the lopsided educational system in India. Hope some teachers and people involved in the education industry watch this movie and try to do something to correct our outdated, one-sided education system.
There is another thing that stands out in this movie- the cinematography. whether its the college ambiance at IIM Bangalore or Shimla or Ladakh etc. has been nicely captured. Music is also good and keeps you entertained.
That said and done, this movie is just an entertainer.Just leave your brains at home while watching this, especially the in the second half.
