Skylines (2020)
Thoroughly enjoyed it
I'd watched Skyline and forgotten it. I vaguely remembered Beyond Skyline too. Recently saw this one and realized it's a trilogy - so watched all three on 3 consecutive days and absolutely loved them. Actors are great, the movie feels real, action and story are sufficient. I'd definitely recommend it, it's not the caliber of 'Arrival' or 'Edge of Tomorrow' - but it's an enjoyable couple of hours.
Btw I only wrote this because of the movie's unfairly low score as I don't usually find the time to review good movies, I only rate them.
The Shallows (2016)
Utter rubbish
This started ok, became far fetched towards the middle and turned into absolute nonsense in the end. She did what to the shark!? Yeah, right.
The Open House (2018)
Quite enjoyable, ignore the bad reviews
I don't often write reviews but I felt compelled to do for this movie as the bad reviews don't do it justice. It is not a bad stiry at all and I found myself on the edge of my seat most of the time. It is a new idea, the actors are good, the setting is stunning and the tension builds slowly. It's one of those movies where you can't quite believe what's happening and it pumps up the pressure nicely, especially at the end.
I am picky with my horror and I like this one. Give it a chance.
The Night Clerk (2020)
Beautiful, complex, touching movie
I rarely write reviews. This movie really touched me. Tye Sheridan is pure amgic, skillfully portraying a mesmerizing combination of innocence and masculinity. The chemistry between him and the girl is electrifying, which is so rarely achieved in cinema. I was hooked and at the edge of my seat throughout the movie, worried about Bart but he once again proved autism/aspergers does not equate to dumbness. If you're looking for more than a shallow action fix, watch it.
Carolina Moon (2007)
The worst film I've watched recently
A total and absolute waste of time. Bad acting. Bad story. Predictable. Simple. Pathetic. After a while I was only watching to see what happens, since I'd already invested my time into it. Totally surprised Clair Forlani played in a weak movie as this. Honestly - just don't bother.
Avatar (2009)
The Most Important Movie Ever Made
The Most Important Movie Ever Made - is all I have to say about that.
How awesome that James Cameron chose to say what he said in Avatar. How awesome that he chose to share the truths about the sacredness of live and how all being are connected. He could have shown fast cars, busty girls in wet t-shirts and scary guns. But no, he chose to show love, compassion and beauty.
This movie is a powerful message, one much needed in times of lost illusions. I hope it reaches far and wide.
I have seen the movie 3 times to date, have taken people I love to see it, and going back to see it yet again with more people I love. And all my friends who SEE love it, and all their friends who SEE love it too.
Thank you, James Cameron.
