What the hell was that?
16 August 2010
I've seen this movie in the BAFICI (festival movie from Buenos Aires, Argentina). And all I've got to say is "What was that?"

This is a classic Snoob-movie, made it for (and by) people that believe better than the common people cause they like things that are incomprehensible and have no meaning. This is not art. This is bullshit.

Before the movie's ended half of the audiences had gone. I wanted to go too, but I was with my girlfriend and she said "Oh, it's great. Look at this. It's beautiful" And I said "Honey, I think I will leave you". I didn't... my girlfriend is a snob, what can I do?

Anyway, if this movie is showed in your place (I don't really think so), don't waste your money and time. Go to see a normal movie, with a real meaning (not this bullshit about the deep of the soul).

And also, how can anybody put an 10 to this piece of crap? They have to be members of the movie or director's sons, or some kind of sick snobs.

That's it.

Disappointing
15 August 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Sorry about my English, is not really good.

I've seen this movie yesterday, and after it I asked to myself "What the hell was that?"

First of all: I think the way that Nolan complicated the history is completely unnecessarily. Nolan gives you 100 dater per second, only to confuse you, so, you think "Oh, it's complicated, it's a smart movie, it's great, I'm a smart guy" Well, maybe you are not. The story could be easier and didn't lose the meaning (which is very stupid). Nolan make it difficult only for make it difficult.

Second: What's the point of make 30 seconds' scenes? Make you feel sick and queasy. Can't Nolan make longer scenes? They talk ten seconds and Nolan shows you visual effects ten seconds, and then they talk about dreams another ten seconds, and then Nolan show you how a piece of cheesecake can become in a lemon pie, and over and over, and that's all. The history is silly, the plot is poor. The few jokes are bad. The characters are not interesting. The dialogs are really, really awful.

Third: 3º best movie ever? What are you thinking about? Come on, must be a joke. Why is so cool? The idea is not original (seems to be a mix among Freddy Krugger, Matrix and an article about Freud take from Wikipedia), the visual effects are fine but have not sense at all (There are easier ways to say "everything is on our mind"). I can't find what is so great

Fourth: I think (maybe I'm wrong) many people like this movie cause it make them feel smart, and they believe that they've seen an intellectual movie. Well, I'm not an expert in philosophy or psychology (in fact, I know very little), and I know that the movie is fiction, but anyway, some concepts are completely wrong. I'm in the school yet (third world school), and we had psychology classes last year, and the teacher taught us that the subconscious is result of repressed impulses, so, you want your mother (in a sexual way) and the culture say you "that's wrong and disgusting" so you can't support it, and that's why you have dreams, because it's so hard to tolerate so you eliminate it from your conscience, but that is still in your mind, in your subconscious. So, what DiCaprio says about subconscious (Is result of our emotions) is wrong. He says the subconscious is something subjective (our ideas, our emotions), and is not. What make our subconscious is the culture what cause a guilty filling.

And this year we've got philosophy and we've seen something about Idealism, and skepticism. It's not true that everything is idea. There is a reality, and our mind is made of this reality. This reality (the Society) makes our conscience, and the culture (which is real) make our subconscious. So, everything we think has a reality inception. We are made of reality. Would be great if in the middle of the movie Nicky Santoro (Casino) appeared and says to DiCaprio " Maybe if I stick your head through that window over there you won't think that everything is an idea" That's it. We need more Scorsese and less Nolan.

Fifth: Does anybody find an interesting story? Because, I've seen a lot of guys saying thing about dreams and everything-is-an-idea (Yes Nolan, we get it. You don't have to repeat over and over). But the stories are pretty poor; Di Caprio's story and why the police is looking him, and his ex-wife, and his children didn't trap me at all. What's more, the story about the rich guy and his father is, for me, completely ridiculous. Nolan is very smart, he could think something smarter than that.

So, What do we have? Visual effects and ideas that were taken for guys who died 300 years ago (like Descartes) or even before (like the skepticism Greeks). There is nothing new, or brilliant in "Nolan's idea". What we have is a lot of visual effects without meaning, and nothing else.

Is this one of the best movies ever?

Beautiful
14 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this film when I was 10 and I hadn't liked it. Okey, I said me a few weeks ago, I'm gonna try again. And was beautiful, a magic film, full of charming. Very beautiful.

The movie is the history of the classic Jewish family on the East of Europe in the XIX century. But is not only a history of a single family in a single village, is the history of the Jewish people. Show you the ideology of the classic Jews, how was changing his minds, how they lived and coexist (and not) with the non Jewish people (they belonged to the Orthodox Church). And finally, how they had to go, how they were expelled from there land.

And the characters are charming to. Tevye, Who nobody obeys him, and he seems dominated for his wife, Golde. The daughters of Tevy symbolize the changes, the first got married with no matchmaker, and was hard to admit. The second with a crazy Marxist Jew, who fought against the classical values and tradition. And the younger, Chava, with a Non Jew. That was terrible for Tevye, he couldn't admit that. All his values going to hell.

The songs are really nice. And even if the movie show you something terrible (how was the pogroms), the movie has to a positive message, give you hope.

Amazing
14 July 2010
I rent the movie only because was a Scorcese film. But I hadn't heard anything about this movie. Okey, I thought, shouldn't been nothing special, a cheap movie by a great director.

Oh man... How wrong I was! Scorcese's best film, almost for me. Amazing, everything is amazing. The characters, the history, the plot... everything. One of the best movies I've ever seen. Fantastic, I was so amazed when I finished to see the movie I couldn't sleep. Really!

Fantastic experience.

If you like movies, make you a favor and see it. You won't sorry.

Philosophical

When I saw this movie, the next day, my brother asked me if I liked it... And I said him Yeah... Okey, why? Asked again him. And I said, I can't tell you, you have to see it. Only if you see it you'll understand.

Am I excessive? No, I'm not. This is not only a fantastic film, very well made, is much more than this. The dude is a life style, another way of live. Is, like Paul Lafargue's book, The right to be lazy. And it's magic.

Like never before, I felt completely trapped by the characters. The Dude, and also, Walter... Possibly, one of the greatest characters ever. Man, I love him. He's a hero, I don't know... My next dog will be called Walter. And if my dog, respected his name, He would be a crazy, sick mental dog. But also, charming.

Oh man (or I should say 'dude'?) please, see it. You won't sorry.

Puskas = Football
8 July 2010
Puskas is football, so simple like that.

I saw the movie in the cinema, the last week. I went with my grandpa, who lived sometime in Spain. He was a Real Madrid's fan and in the end, he cried. I was really surprising, I never seen him cry before. But, well, he felt a lot of things. I guess.

I didn't cry, but I felt moved. Because Puskas wasn't only a great football player, was to, a incredible man. Who had an unbelievable life, full of adventure.

Anyway, all these thing can see it in the film. Very well made, with a lot of statements, from many important people, like Di Stefano, Pele, Platini o Beckembauer. The film show all his life, from his beginning in Hungary, until his death in Australia.

The film has to, beautiful images, old images, and old videos. From 1954 World Cup, and an old Olimpic Games.

I knew Puskas, but I didn't know how incredible was his life. And all the thing that happened.

Very well made, and very good.

My only criticizes is, they should put or say who was talking. Because, in some cases, like the Hungarians Players, I didn't know who they were, and I would like know. That's all.

Nice.

Original sin: Private property
6 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
The film try to explain why the world is going to hell. And in the beginning, he says that the capitalism is responsible of our misery. What is certainly right, almost by me. He says to, that the mode of production is responsible of the economy, and politic and social situation. And is interesting that the purpose of the capitalism being the profit. The own good is the really important. The other people doesn't matter. And as long as the production being organized by and for the profit, we will never can be a equal society, because we need a production in where doesn't matter the own good but common good. And that's the opposite to the capitalism.

But in the end he says that the democracy is the answer to our problems. Well, I think he's wrong, or almost when he talks of this democracy. The mode of production is the owner of the poor people, and the misery. The democracy as we know is servile to the rich interesting. The democracy means power of the people, by the people and for the people. And the people is the working class. So, the real democracy is a system where the production doesn't mean profit but good.

Except that, the film is really great. Give you hope, and show you that is possible being different. And that the world as we know could be different. And you can see that the real evil, and the mother of many problems are not the 17 years offenders like many rich people want to us believe. More criminal that everyone, are the bankers, and the government and the businessman, and the people that usually we can see in Forbes magazine. And how all are corrupt by the money.

But the most interesting is the example of the workers that take the factory, and refuse to accept the bank's order. And how the people helped theirs, and how the American people, still can think in some different way.

Anyway, the film is really great. I'm Argentine, and if you like this kind of film, you would like Pino's Solanas films, are the same kind of documentary, and show about the cooperatives in my country, which were born after the 2001 crisis.

And it's nice when the priests talk, because they are totally right. Jesus wouldn't like city bank, I guess... He fought against these kind of people. People that sanctifies his name, and they shouldn't.

And the film have also, funny scenes and lines. Like the beginning and Jesus scene...

Nice. 10/10
