Vampires vs. the Bronx (2020)
Spooky fun
Here's a little nice spooky movie for the kids during this Halloween Season and not just for the kids but for the grown ups asl well.
The movie is about a group of friends who live in Bronx , NY who are fighting to save their neighborhood from A cooperation moving in. Specifically their favorite bodega. The cooperation is also happen to be run by vampires. The movie starts off by a lady selling off her nail salon to some strange businessman after some blonde dude sucks the blood out of them. The movie is sure interested taking horrors of gentrification and white supremacy. The vampires of the movie are a metaphor for these kinds of people. They are just trying to sink their teeth in and suck up the blood of all these poor neighborhoods.
If, you like the show Stranger Things you will sure like this. It's like " Stranger Things but with vampires. It's funny, spooky, Another must see for this Halloween Season!
13 Sins (2014)
Recommended 3 stars.
They are sure some movies that sure surprise you in a good way. When I decided to watch it on Netflix this morning , I knew nothing about this or have seen the trailer. Just saying because Netflix sure carries a lot of crap on their streaming library. So I really had a good time watching this with my cup of coffee.
Elliot Brindle is a salesman who loses his job with bills to pay and having his handicap brother and abusive elderly father to look after as well. So this is when he receives this mysterious phone call offering him money to do weird and odd things like eat a fly just as soon he sees his bank account has been credited with money he continues with the challenges, with other challenges becoming more risker and more rewarding. If he fails to complete any of the challenges or reveals that he is playing the game he will be disqualified and will have to give up his winnings.
It's dark and humorous, good cast and good story. Being the spooky Halloween season it should be on everyone's watch list this month. I guess this was my October's surprise. Lol
Striptease (1996)
Two stars out of four
Watching this reminded me when I was a kid. Demi Moore plays a out of work FBI Secretary in a child custody battle with her ex husband (Robert Patrick) who takes a job as a stripper to be able to afford her court fees. A congressman (Burt Reynolds) one day walks into the club and takes notice of her and becomes immediately infatuated with her. Using this now to her advantage. She decides to manipulate him, To help her with court battle against her ex-husband. The Congressman is also a suspected in a murder which the cops also ask for her help to bring the congressman to justice.
Will I see down and watch this again? No. For a movie called "Striptease" there was way far less nudity than I expected. Not saying it was a bad movie. Just not a very good one , with potential to be a hilarious crime comedy. The movie also wore out its welcome right after the 90 min mark. Ving Rhames her bodyguard and Robert Patrick were the highlight of the movie.
Regarding Henry (1991)
Two and half stars out of 4
This is movie is one of those " I'm glad I got shot" kind of movies. Harrison Ford plays this successful lawyer who is a big jerk who I am pretty sure has a narcissistic personality disorder, who one day walks into a convenience robbery played by John Leguizamo shoots him twice once in the the head and the other one in the Subclavian vein. The head wound did no harm (the odds of that now ?) but the second one causes him to have a heart attack and decreases oxygen to the brain, that causes him to have Amnesia.
I called it a "I'm glad I got shot " kind of movie, the reason being it made him realized that he was heading down a road he wasn't too fund of. His family life was in the dumpster It made him realize he was an unhappy unethical person as well.
Watching this reminded me of how people can be so fake and how society can be so backstabbing and devious
Well this movie wasn't great but just "ok" Well if a you're big Harrison Ford fan go check it out.
It's Streaming on HBO MAX
Mr. Wonderful (1993)
Mr. Womderful * * *
Mr. Wonderful is a fun underrated movie with such a good cast. Thinking it was going to quick "time killer " while I enjoyed my cup of coffee. It's funny and romantic. Seeing a young James Gandoldini with Annabella Sciorra on a date was a good surprise. (Future lovers on The Sopranos) Being a big fan of the TV show it was such a treat . But other then that Matt Dillon the Star of the movie is surrounded by such a great cast. Mary Louise Parker , William Hurt , Vincent D'Onofrio, Dan Hedaya, and Luis Guzman. I think it's underrated in spite of the
Matt Dillion plays a electrician who wants to buy a bowling alley but just can't afford because of the Alimony dues to his ex wife. So he takes the task to play match maker for his wife. Such a funny romantic movie to kick it with the girlfriend/date. I believe it's a underrated movie in spite of the 52% Rotten Tomatoes Meter. Well I liked it.
