Viduthalai Part 1 (2023)
Raw. Can't be far from reality.
This movie shows the struggle of people from forest areas against oppressive ideology.
This story can't be far from reality. The reality might even be worse than this and the locals may have gone through years of punishment from police in the name of peace and growth.
They plot of the movie is straightforward, yet the action from the main characters is excellent. As usual, Vijay Sethupati, my favorite, makes his presence felt, albeit in a limited role in part 1.
On a much lighter note, the love between the constable and the village girl is beautifully written and acted. Can't wait for part 2.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)
Touching movie
This movie was well written and directed. The actors have done a great job and Emma W did an awesome job as usual. High school can be hard and it is well depicted in the movie.
As a parent, it breaks my heart to know that abuse towards kids is common. Especially the kind of abuse that was addressed in the movie is so hard to comprehend.
I guess, a good takeaway is to protect your kids. Shower them with love, so that they can share what's happening with their life freely. However, good parenting itself can't be enough. Kids will need loving friends. Don't need loads of them, just a couple of close ones would do.
Togo (2019)
Cried like a baby!
OMG! What a fantastic story!
My love for dogs is growing by the hour. Never in my life, I had the opportunity to own a dog. I would love to fulfill that one day!
The Help (2011)
Much needed story!
As an outsider to the country of USA, it can get confusing what civil rights movement meant. Why does it come up every so often? Police brutality, black incarceration, voter suppression, black salary mismatch are all still issues that we need solutions to.
This movie is a reminder to some and a sneak peak to some of the era without civil rights. Many of the issues got skipped from the movie and rightly so, the movie is only about 'the helpers' and not a catch all to every black issue of the era. The sheer amount of disrespect and distrust they had endure on a daily basis is staggering.
Knives Out (2019)
My house, My rules, My coffee.
Brilliant narration and brilliant ending!
Daniel Craig did a fantastic job being the detective. His accent was something he must have worked on for this movie, and it was refreshing. I thought it was funny that Marta would puke every time she lied. Intricate, yet not so intricate crime mystery. Very well done.
Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez (2020)
Oh the humanity!
I'm probably a tad bit partial. Aaron being one of my favorite football players since his college days.
There a million excuses for his erratic behavior. And a lot of people will say they're exactly that, Excuses. But what if they're not? Having a controlling father, parents fighting all the time, his mother not being there when he needed her emotionally, sexual abuse, fear of coming out of the closet, bad acquaintances, brain damage and CTE due to NFL, oh the humanity, please be more understanding towards your kids. You never know what they are going through. Make it easy for them to reach out for help.
Marriage Story (2019)
Being happy
I don't know why people are so intricate. Even after having equipped with so much, the power of speech, understanding, enthusiasm, having a brain, we still fall short at figuring out our fellow men and women.
Ego, being the main culprit, of course. All of us are self centered. Just varying degrees. I do not want to talk or even care about two incompatible partners separating, but 2 people who love each other extremely, seeing them get separated breaks my heart.
Coming to the movie, although a bit late, great acting by Adam driver and Scarlette Johanson. How could you pick a side once the movie is over? Are they both happy with the end result? Is there a happier scenario that you could think of?
Winter's Bone (2010)
Jennifer Lawrence
The first thing I googled after watching this movie is - how old is jlaw when she did this role of Ree. 20 years old.
What an incredibly mature actress she is. I never gave her enough credit for winning an Oscar because I didn't feel like her acting was all that special in the Bradley Cooper movie. I thought he was great though, but he didn't win it. It is ironic that I found respect for her in a movie which is way before her Oscar movie.
The struggle she showed in the movie to find her father and to take care of her siblings is riveting to watch. Her accent is tough to pull off too.
Mallesham (2019)
Padmashri Mallesham
I usually try to avoid watching inspirational movies. Not because I don't need motivation, but partly because I don't get motivated via films and I'm not a fan of the inspirational genre. I'm glad I didn't skip Mallesham based on my prior habits.
Having problem solving mindset is an incredible asset. Mallesham has it. His lack of education didn't stop him. Dissent from his parents, friends, relatives, neighbors didn't stop him. Supportive life partner is always a huge plus though. A must watch movie.
Gang Leader (2019)
Excellent trailer! Movie falls short of expectations.
It had all the elements of becoming a classic movie. Great story line, good actors and potential.
But it falls short on so many levels. There was not enough cat and mouse game between the hero and the villain. It was simplistic and honestly, a wasted opportunity.
Bluff Master (2018)
Satyadev show
I'm looking Satyadev more and more as each movie goes by. I've liked him in Brochevarevarura. And that's the first time I've noticed him. Now after watching Bluff master, I'm convinced he has a great future ahead of him.
Coming to the movie, it's an excellent script. The content is amazing. The only negative I'd say is that Telugu movies are getting bogged down with the regular hero heroine time waste formula. Remove the need for a love track in each and every movie and we'll get great scripts.

Her (2013)
Deep!
This is how you tell a story. To me, Scarlett Johansson is the star of movie, despite not appearing in the movie. In the not so distant future, it is absolutely conceivable that this type of OS shown in the movie would be available in the market.
I can't imagine what the next big thing is, but I'm willing to put money on AI and Machine learning.
Chernobyl (2019)
Too many wrongs don't make a right!
The scale at the which the Chernobyl happened and the after effects they had to deal with, is mind boggling. No wonder, safety is the number one priority now a days. Dealing with radioactivity is highly dangerous.
Hope that no one has to deal with an incident like this ever ever again.
Brochevarevarura (2019)
Good attempt
The movie is okay. Not great, not bad. I was expecting it to have an interesting bang at the end. Not to be. It took an expected turn.
The performances are good though.
Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya (2019)
Naveen polishetty!
I don't know where to start talking about the acting brilliance of Naveen in this movie. He's here to stay.
The story is awesome and deserves all the credit it is getting. Hope to see part 2 of sai athreya c/o Fathima bureau of investigation. LOL.
Super Deluxe (2019)
A movie outlining some social issues in India
Discriminating transgenders is not anything new in India. I've observed this since my childhood days. Treating them with respect is still something we, as people, have to learn to do. And quickly too. They do not deserve our inhumanity.
Pure coincidences and inevitable circumstances cannot be attributed to God. Question everything. Don't blindly believe in babas. I cannot wait for the world to become rational.
This film does a good job showing us the cruelty shown towards trans people and the problems of having blind faith towards God. Thumbs up from me.
Falaknuma Das (2019)
Raw and beautiful
Raw and beautiful. Wonderfully directed and acted by Vishwak sen.
Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015)
You gotta love Tom cruise!!
The level of fitness Tom cruise has at his age is inspirational. Riding the motorcycle resembling MI2 is easily my favorite part of the movie.
Story is simple and uncomplicated. Excellent action movie!!
Stree (2018)
Potential to go big!
This movie had the potential to go really big. The initial concept and the performances are good. Although, the script is flat at times. There are several loose ends that the story never explains.
I got the feeling that the moral of the story is that "stree", meaning women, deserves the respect of all! There needs to be clarity.
Chitralahari (2019)
Ambition!!
Being ambitious is a virtue. I can relate to, and understand the restlessness of Vijay to succeed in his life. "Success" is what he's after.
A well made, almost no-nonsense movie.
Roma (2018)
A trip to 70s Mexico
The storyline is pretty simple. The movie follows a maid who stays with the family she is serving for about an year.
The breathtaking screenplay and the effort behind some of the scenes is awesome to watch. The old vintage cars, people with old 70s clothes and the black & white styled movie is well worth a watch.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Thanos did nothing wrong!!
What a great movie!!
Eventually, we're going to run out of resources on Earth. It may take a few hundreds or thousands of years. This will mark the end of humanity, if we don't kill each other first.
That is the problem facing the human condition.
Thanos has a solution for that. Obviously, it is an evil one. But, I can't fault the guy for trying.
Coming to the movie, it is a fast paced, well structured one. Can't wait to watch the Endgame now.
Mirzapur (2018)
Well made show
Indian shows are becoming more refreshing. Western series have finally made an impact and forced us to make better cinema and series instead of the usual boring saas-bahu nonsense.
Coming to Mirzapur, this has a potential to be an epic show. At times, the characters seem contrived and the story line unnatural. But the performances are hard hitting.
Shichinin no samurai (1954)
A masterpiece!!
Can't believe this movie is from1950s.
This is the story of how a village takes help from 7 samurai warriors to protect their harvest from bandits. The ideas in the movie is nothing short of a war between 2 kingdoms. The warriors execute a well-planned killing of the bandits with the help of villagers.
Toshiro mifune. What an actor!! He is the funniest, heroic and the most badass.
The movie is 3 and half hours long. And I feel it's the right length. Gives you the complete picture and leaves you with an impression
