Possessor (2020)
Vaping, Blood and Boring
Another great concept overshadowed by an agenda of pushing vaping and gratuitous blood and gore. The concept in itself is unique but the execution is lack luster and leaves you wishing the internet went out half way through streaming. Absolutely love these actors and can only imagine they needed a new wing on their condos which is why they agreed to do the film. The plot is poorly executed and the story drones on with very little payout. I would not recommend this movie to anyone who values their time. The script and dialogue was most likely written on the back of a bar napkin and then thrown away only to be found by two bros vaping in a back alley.
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story (2022)
Huge Disappointment
I have been a Weird Al Yankovic fan my whole life and was so excited for a film about the life and career of one of my favorite musical musical artists. This movie started off fun and enjoyable, and I found myself completely transported back in time. Then, in a split second, it all went downhill. What began as something that mirrored a dream sequence sadly became the second half of this movie. It was disappointing, pointless, not funny, annoying, and about 1000 other words to describe something unpleasant and unflattering for a once phenomenal artist. I don't know what the intentions were behind this film, but I feel like the movie began with one screenwriter and direction, and then changed in the middle to become something that I regret ever watching. I found myself fast forwarding through most of the second half just to get through what I thought was a dream sequence and ultimately hit the end credits and realized I had been duped. I have never seen such a waste of talent and energy on a piece of film ever in my entire life. I am disappointed and completely saddened by this horrific movie. I do not recommend anyone watching this, unless you know nothing about Weird Al Yankovic, don't care about his story or want to have a connection with someone who used to do really phenomenal work, but now has just sold out to sensationalized garbage not anywhere connected to his real life and legacy. Absolutely a treacherous awful awful awful movie. Shame on Weird Al Yankovic for letting this garbage make it onto my television set.
Knock at the Cabin (2023)
Depressing, Trigger Warning, NO TWISTS
I just finished watching this film and feel absolutely ill and regretful. This was by far the worst, most depressing film I have ever seen. I cannot believe this script was approved and created. The story is linear and leaves zero up to the imagination. There are several triggering scenes that should have elevated this film to an NC-17 rating. I am disappointed in M. Night and will not be blindly watching his films moving forward, he missed the mark with this one and left me traumatized, sickened and depressed after watching this giant pile of garbage. It amazes me that any reputable actor would've agreed to appear in this film having read any aspect of the script. If there was ever a film I wish we could uncreate, THIS would be that film.
See How They Run (2022)
Creative, Funny and a Delight!
I went into this movie without seeing the movie trailer, since those typically ruin the plot and reveal too much. I was pleasantly surprised and rather enjoyed this time-travel whodunit centered in London during the heigh of Agatha Christie's career. The story is clever, witty dialogue, beautiful cinematography, periodic appropriate costumes and sets straight out of a museum! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a unique and clever movie to break the monotony of the boring, rehashed plots and heavily CGI'd movies. I honestly want to watch it again now that I know the plot ending:) I would love to see another film from this group of talented cast and crew! Nicely done!!!!
A Christmas Story Christmas (2022)
Why?
I'll skip past my admiration of the first film because if you're reading this than obviously you also have the same affinity for it as well. I was excited about the news of the sequel but felt underwhelmed when I saw the trailer, especially considering that movie trailers are built in a way to show you the best parts of the movie. So, in theory, if all of the best scenes were featured in the trailer for this film and I didn't find any one of them funny or interesting, then why would I ever consider spending an 1 hour and 41 minutes watching more. But it's the holiday season and this is one of my most favorite and treasured franchises, so I thought I would give it a spin and watch it. We made it through the first five minutes and turned it off. The mere fact that Peter Billingsly voiced his own internal monologue combined with his poor acting skills as an adult we're enough for us to bail and turn off this (thankfully) free movie. Anyone giving it 10 stars on here is either a bot or a review that was bought, because I have two eyes and two ears combined with common sense. I am not a Hollywood movie maker, but I do know a good story when I hear one. If I were producing this film, I would've scoured the world looking for a Jean Shepherd sound alike to voice all of Ralphie's internal monologue (LIKE IN THE FIRST FILM). Instead, we're left with a flat voice over that leaves us confused when he is speaking out loud or internally. I will always treasure the first movie, but cannot, and will not ever watch another frame of this movie beyond the first five minutes I forced my eyes, heart and soul to endure. Disappointed doesn't even convey the right sentiment.
Escape Room (2017)
If Jigsaw had an inbred cousin
This film stole so many aspects of the Saw movies I lost count. I went into it with high hopes and left feeling confused and annoyed that I actually paid to rent this hot dumpster mess. The acting is horrible, like work training video quality, the actors should give back their salaries. The script and story are non existent, I honestly think this film was written by someone who has no grasp of how humans speak or interact with other humans. The story is, there is no story so don't go into this thinking you'll have a story. I'd rather allow a homeless man spit into my open mouth in the height of a pandemic than ever watch this film again.... Ever!
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
I wanted it to end after 5 minutes
This film is original, that's about it. Either they hired a lot of people to hype this movie or the end of the human race is upon us. The film has a complicated and disorganized narrative and about 86 action sequences too much! The subtitles were a mess, between the subtitles in the film and the close captioning I have on my tv... I was reading two different books while a loud and obnoxious movie plays behind me. Absolutely the worst movie I've ever seen, period.
Senior Year (2022)
Shallow and Cringe
I had hopes for movie that we're shattered within the first 20 minutes. The movie depicts a horrible high school full of rude socially inept students forcing awfully over-woke dialogue that is as organic as a 20 lbs tomato from Monsanto. That's not to be surpassed by a disgustingly unfunny below shallow almost cringe worthy lead role played by Rebel Wilson. I adore Rebel but I think she should've passed on this role. There is so much I hated about this movie that listing them here would only force me to relive this awful movie and waste more time. Please do not watch this!
The Amazing Race: Now It's About Winning (2020)
Alliances = Bullying
This season was by far the worst season of amazing race I've ever seen in my 32 seasons of watching the show. The challenges were weak and simple... the final episode was ridiculous, I mean a corporate retreat planner could've prepared tougher challenges. Alliances were formed and used as a way to bully other contestants out of the game. Why the producers allowed this is disgusting and makes me question the ethics of the show. Season 32 of amazing race is a cheap Vegas showroom where cheats, liars and manipulators win.... Honestly don't know how this show will succeed moving forward, the charm is gone and I refuse to watch bullying be used as a tactic to win a stupid game show. I agree with D'Angelo and glad he spoke up at the end of his leg when he said the show was the worst and he'd never return. I also may not return as a viewer I'd this show continues down the path of ridiculousness!
The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two (2020)
Refuse to accept Chris Columbus directed this...
The first film had a great story and was beautifully casted so we went into the second hoping for the same. Those hopes were shattered within the first 5 minutes... the story is wonky, the casting was missed and the Mom character has suddenly turned into an evil step-mother who has completely forgot about her family as she pursues a partner of which she has no on-camera chemistry with. We were so disappointed with the shotty story that it distracted from the bad cast of supporting characters. They also forced the cute daughter from the first film to wear a wig that resembled the hair of a homeless woman who hasn't seen a brush or comb since 2007. It became more dreadlocked and gross with each scene. Overall- awful film with no purpose. The first one was magic and we love the Santa and Mrs Claus actors/characters but my advice is to avoid the second film at all costs.
Hell House LLC II: The Abaddon Hotel (2018)
Proof that sequels DON'T SUCK!
HH1 left me shook, disturbed and physically afraid to take a photo or video in a dark room for fear I'd later see something in the background. These are all emotions and reactions I crave when watching a horror movie. So, you can imagine how THRILLED I was to discover HH2 on Shudder and turned watching it into a special event at our house. Not only did HH2 DELIVER THE GOODS, but it's clear that this is a true horror franchise that I will follow 'till the end. The sequel continues the story in a seamless way and brings us deeper into the mystery and horror of the Abbadon Hotel. I was impressed that a movie could disturb me so much without using the typical (and over used) jump scares. I don't remember a movie ever being able to do that, and again, I've been a fan of the genre since I was very young. I applaud Shudder for bringing us this amazing film and hope they keep the story alive through future iterations. Hell House LLC satisfies a void that Paranormal Activity abandoned. I highly recommend HH2!
Land of the Dead (2005)
Great cast, bad script/directing
another sad story of a great premise, but a bad script and POOR execution. I was into the idea of the movie, and thought it had much hope. To top it off, it had John and Dennis in it, a guarantee hit! Boy was I wrong! The movie had no point once it got going, and lacked substance in many areas. OK, so story aside, its not even a good thriller. The open is abrupt, the body of the movie is lame, and the ending had no payoff at all! I know this was directed by the legendary Goerge Romero, but he needs to take up bridge playing at the senior center because his directing skills are gone. Serious, I love thrillers and horror flicks, but I will HIGHLY think twice before seeing any of this dudes films again!
Wishmaster 3: Beyond the Gates of Hell (2001)
Someone kill me now please...
This movie can be summed up in 3 words...... TAX WRITE OFF! This movies was
aweful and a waste of money. I feel bad for anyone who had to work on it.... The story was lame, the acting was awful, the fact that I actually bought this movie makes me hurl. I saw part one and two and those were OK, so I assumeed the
third one would be the same...NOT, it was so bad!!!! The special FX were cheap and ghetto and the only thinkg that scared me was the fact that I spent money actually buying this DVD....
P.S.I. Luv U: Pilot (1991)
I was totally in this movie..wheres my credit
Hey, I was in the pilot for this CBS show...wheres my credit...OK, so I was an extra, but sooooo.... This was filmed in and around the city of Palm Springs, California. I remember riding the bus to school and seeing them film down my street and around my town. Funny when I saw the final show, I didnt know my house connected to all the hot spots in Palm Springs, seeing hows I live 20 miles outside of the city....in post anything is possible. Anywho, I was the boy in the tram ride when Connie Seleca and Greg Evigan realize there is a bomb on the tram.... I am such a stud!
Gothika (2003)
Dark Castle Ent. needs to re-think its goal! *SPOILERS*
Not really sure what to think about this movie....The storyline didnt make any sense. If I was a ghost of a girl who was brutally rapped and killed and I came back from the dead to look for help from a mortal, I surely wouldnt beat the crap out of the person who I was trying to get to help me. Nor would I scare the living hell out of this person, it just dosent make sense! Secondly, why was Cloe, played by Penelope Cruz, haunted by this same girl (Rachel Parsons)??? What connection did she have to the whole story? Thirdly, I knew that the second killer wasent Robert Downey JR, for the mere sake that when you saw the hairy, large, tattooed chest in the window of Cloe's cell, that looked nothing like his chest. Not that I have seen his chest, but the tattooed chest was of someone very large and of a Truck Driver In-bred type decent, not that of a yuppie. And was that whole scene with the tattooed man in Cloe's cell a dream, or for real? If it was for real, why would this cop still bother these girls even after his partner in crime was killed......! And lastly, what was the motive of the killers (Halle Berry's Husband and the Cop), why would they do such a thing to innocent girls? If they were going to do such things, why not just do it at the prison, why take then to such a far away place? OOHHH, and WHY would you tape record these such incidents and then leave all the evidence behind?????? STUPID...... In closing, I started off by being a huge fan of Dark Castle Entertainment, who has released and remade such horror classics like House on Haunted Hill and Thirteen
Ghosts. Whenever I found out that they were releasing a movie, I marked that date down on my calendar, but lately, they have really gone down hill with their last two flicks, Ghost Ship and now this one! Come on Dark Castle, get your stuff together and stop making crap, your fans are fickle, disappoint them once (or twice as you have done to me), and we will scatter like cockroaches when a light is turned on!!!!!
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
AWESOME!!!!!
This movie was very well done! Not to over the top and out there as the first one, but yet still scarey as hell and believable! Marcus Nispel did a fantastic job at ressurecting this old story!!! This movie is the reason I wont go on road trips!!!!
Wrong Turn (2003)
Awesome Scary movie of the SUMMER!..but....
I went and saw this 84minute(approx) movie on opening night and LOVED it!
WT is a constant scare ride all the way until the very end. BUT, the only thing I was a bit disappointed with was how short the movie was, (racking in at an
approx 84 min), and the ending. The body of the movie was great and kept me
on the edge of my seat the entire time. If they were to ever make a sequel, they should spend more time explaining how these people end up the way they are?
Something they should of done in this movie. OVERALL, a great scary summer
movie that is intense to see in a nice theater. And contrary to popular rumours, this movie is not The Texas Chainsaw Masacare.....The only thing those two
movies have in common are that people are killed...Thats it!
Sweet Home Alabama (2002)
Pointless....
This movie is absolutely pointless in every aspect! I love Reese,
but didnt like this film at all. There are only a few funny parts, that
you can simply see in the trailer, a weak love story that the viewers
arent let in on and just alot of redneck talk and behavior that I cant
understand. Anywho, If you really want to see this movie , save
yourself and just watch the trailer, that is 50 times better than
wasting 1.5 hours of your life.
Final Destination 2 (2003)
A must see movie....!
This movie was absolutely awesome! In some areas, I think this was way better than the FD1. More gore, more suspense, more story, more plot twists, more of everything! I want to see this movie again and again!!!!!!! When I heard that there was going to be a sequel to FD1, I couldnt wait to see this movie. Even when the theater went dark and the opening credits started to roll, I still couldnt believe that I was actually seeing FD2, I was so filled with anticipation, "Was it going to be good, or was it going to be hokey". To say the least I had no premonition as to what to expect!!! What was the scariest about this movie was the fact that just about ANYTHING could kill you.... and that this movie isnt to far off from what could really happen in everyday life.
PMS (1999)
AWESOME
Love this movie! The mother character was the best and all can say about her is, "BITCH"..!LOL! I also loved the amazing camera work especially in the chase scenes! Very thrilling movie a MUST SEE!
Trapped (2002)
Great Actors bad Director
I loved Courtney Love in this mellow drama about a family that is individually torn apart from their happy co-existance and foreced to miss one another. Kevin Bacon is great as the common villian, (i.e. Hollow Man). The movie however needed a better Director, preferably one who uses CUTS in tense scenes and not swish pans from actor to actor to capture their line of dialogue. This sort of rock and roll type camera work and style is very sick to the stomach and brings back bad memories of seeing the Blair Witch Project. The casting for the Father character was badly done as the actor was not believable in ANY form. Other than those two annoying things, the movie is pretty good, glad I didnt blow good theater money seeing this movie, but was an ok renter! OH, one more thing, the ending of this movie is so LAME, so dont expect much......
