A View to a Kill (1985)
The last was the best
I think the moore 007 movies, generally speaking, got better as time went on. For example, the 2 worst Moore 007's were Man with the Golden gun (2nd worst Moore 007) followed closely by Moore's debut as 007 in Live and Let Die. Spy who loved me saved possibly the entire 007 series. Then it regressed a little bit again with Moonraker and especially For Your Eyes only (which to me was the worst moore 007). But then a great one with Octopussy with Khamal Khan and then this awesome film, AVTAK.
The reasons this is the best are many. Best theme song, most action scenes (the eiffel tower, the horse chase, the blimp scene, the city hall elevator scene, the scene in the mine, and so many others). I guess my main reason for considering this one the best is Zorin. The villain is always obviously a main character in any bond film, I don't care who plays 007. In this one, Zorin was by far the most evil and psychotic villain. And I think Mayday was very good as his henchman (or henchwoman in this case- anybody think she couldn't kick knick nack's but??). Just who was the henchman in for your eyes only, by the way? Sure this movie didn't deal with global destruction, but millions dying in California is nothing to sneeze at either. Nobody really was going to die in Goldfinger, he was just going to have a monopoly on gold, yet everyone seems to rave about that one.
And the them song by Duran Duran simply kicks but. It's a different genre of theme song from say FYEO or TSWLM, but even so, overall, it really is the best theme song. I dare say it was the only one to hit #1 on the charts.
Best Moore 007 films are
1) AVTAK 2) Octopussy 3) SPy who loved me....
after that it really doesn't matter since the rest are all mediocre at best.
For Your Eyes Only (1981)
you got to be kidding
This movie was not anywhere near the best. It was boring, seemed like half the movie they were skiing. A 12 year old girl falls for 40+ bond? The volkswagon chase scene where the volkswagon rolls over about 100 times yet keeps driving.
What really shows bad this movie was is, ask the average bond fan to name out the villain. In Live and Let die, it was Kananga, in Man with the golden gun, Scaramanga. In TSWLM, it was Stromberg. In Moonraker (a little harder here) it was Drax. In octopussy, Kamal Khan. In VTAK, ZOrin. Yet everybody I ask seems to ask about this one cant name him. Reason being he didn't stand out like the other villains did. Even if Live and Let Die and Man with the golden gun sucked, at least they had decent villains. FYEO didn't even have that. I will admit it has probably the 3rd or 4th best theme song, behind 1) View to a Kill 2) The spy who loved me 3) Octopussy 4) tied with Live and Let die.
But as far as the movie itself, its no better than Moonraker, in fact I only rate it, in terms of just the Moore movies, as the worst of them all, at best its tied with man with the golden gun for a tie for 6th. It really was not good at all in my opinion.
The Others (2001)
awful, just awful
I bought this movie actually believing all the hype about it. Boy was that a mistake. For a movie that so great, why were the no murders committed? Why no violence other than kidman shaking the old lady for a few seconds. Why did the husband leave after returning from being gone for years? Nothing is explained in the movie, you are just left to guess at everything, and the ending was just plain awful.
I will be sure to ask people whose opinions i respect before watching a "supposed" great movie again in the future.
Now, I must try to sell this piece of garbage to some fool on the net.
TERRIBLE movie.
A Friday Night Date (2000)
One of the worst of the worst!!!
Absolutely positively the WORST movie of any kind of all time. I mean come on, first off, why does the dude whose truck is being used to pursue the couple keep b!tching about it getting dinged up?? Whyd he let em use it in the first place?? Secondly, the whole plot is just so boring and repetetive. I mean in the beginning, with the car chase, I thought cool, but then the WHOLE freaking show was the same thing!!! Casper Van Dien was average, and that maybe overstating, but Danielle Brett was just atrocious. A 5 year old could have done better. Maybe they were just victims of a bad plot. This movie should have taken a cue from similiar movies such as Breakdown or The Hitcher, sure, a little road chase is fine, but dont make it be the whole dam movie!! Throw some other stuff in there to keep the audience interested. If I could give this movie a negative score, I would. It was THAT bad. I felt I should have gotten a refund after paying to watch this garbage.
