Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011)
A waste of a movie
If you like revisiting Charles Manson and how they were, maybe this film is for you. I just didn't see the point of a cult movie that had no point. Why was this movie made? What message did it have? That people are crazy and kill and abuse each other? Who doesn't know that. And I didn't understand the fuss made about the actress playing MMMM. It was a two note performance, as the previous reviewer had said. The film was gut wrenchingly depressing. It took me two days to get out of the aftereffects of the downer feelings I felt after seeing this film. It's the only film I've ever walked out of with no interest to stick around for the Q & A. Awful!
Footprints (2009)
Original and Engaging!
Storytelling at its best! Very imaginative. It has heart, it has drama, it has nostalgia. It makes me wonder about what it was like at another time in Hollywood. I'm still thinking about it. Writer-Director Steven Peros took a simple idea that not too many people would think about and turned it into a believable journey that every person can relate to. Every frame grabbed my attention and kept me going till the very end. The acting was very well done. It's film making at its best where there is no need for blow-ups, violence, or robots. I would see it again just to get re-inspired by the cinematography. I hope it inspires more film makers to make more films like this. See it.
