Air (2015)
6.5 But I rounded up my vote.
I give this a 6.5 but u can't do that so I rounded it up to a 7. I really liked this film up until it's first ending... At about 1:25:00. Then it seemed like they gave in to the crowd who says "what happens after that?" or even worse the crowd who says "oh, u have to show the guy get the girl" and added an additional ending that was, in the lightest of terms, unnecessary. To me, it just messed up a really good film.
This is a sci-fi drama about two guard/maintenance workers at an airtight silo housing VIP scientists who are all in a sort of cryogenic sleep because the outside world has been contaminated. These guards are also in a sort of cryogenic and every six months they are automatically awoken to analyze data about the air in the outside world and do routine maintenance on the pods/facility. Evidentially, these VIP scientists are meant to foster in a new civilization when the outside environment becomes hospitable again.
This was designed/written to be a relatively inexpensive film to shoot. There are only 3 characters and they are underground an in a fairly small place so it's obviously a dialogue driven film and the tension was done pretty well. Sure, it could have been done better but this a good start for this director. Just should have ended it where It should have ended, 5 minutes early.
Overall, solid film. As I said, my rating is a 6.5.
Breaking Up Is Hard to Do (2010)
WINNER: Newark Black Film Festival
I saw this film at this years Newark Black Film Festival, where it won the festival's highest honor, the Best Long Narrative.
It is a romantic drama/comedy with plenty of both. Demetria McKinney, who plays Shonda, was absolutely fantastic in the role! Her emotional range is amazing. The story revolves around Shonda & Vince, a couple going through relationship issues and decide to go to counseling to see if they can save the relationship. In the middle of all this is Quincy, Shonda's son.
A wonderful film that makes you laugh (hysterically), cry, angry, sad and an entire spectrum of emotions the way films used to in the "golden era."
GREAT WORK!

Instantaneous Ejaculation Disorder (IED) (2007)

I liked this one a lot. The doctor was cast well, and the dry delivery of the lines fit the character well. Some of the scenes had lighting issues and the gross-out humor was a bit over the top at times, but this was funny.

I thought that the skit can be right up there with anything shown on SNL, Mad TV, and anything played on Comedy Central. Love the doctor in beginning and through out the film explaining the disorder and ways to treat it. It was a great spoof of those infomercials and medical drug commercials. Very funny.
Highly Recommended.

Amusing cross between a mock documentary and a training video. Our host and main character spoke with frequent long pauses like he was having trouble remembering his lines, but that may have been deliberate. He was pretty well cast as the doctor type. Particularly amusing was his show-and-tell of a plastic model of male genitalia with the accompanying description of how ejaculation occurs and the debilitating disorder Ramencide.
