Glenn Martin DDS (2009–2011)
Terrible, TERRIBLE.
19 August 2009
I like Kevin Nealon as an actor, I think he's a decent one, but even someone like him can't save the atrocity to television. The show is about the Martin family, an obnoxious family of annoying, tech-savy disgusting-looking clay figures. The father, Glenn Martin (Kevin Nealon), a dentist, decides to tear them away from their materialistic needs in an attempt to make a stronger family, puts them in an RV and takes away their cell phones, gaming consoles, etc. Now, the plot sounds pretty good, I'll admit it HAD potential, but this was advertised as a comedy, but the laughs are missing. The character's personalities are annoying (and they look ugly). The animation is exceptionally bad (Good example: "Moral Orel") and the writing is poor. The jokes are terrible and immature. Honestly, I feel as if I've wasted my time. This attempt at comedy...I haven't seen such a terrible attempt at comedy since Disaster Movie (Yes, I went there). Please, Nick at Nite, go back to running re-runs of 80-90's sitcoms. Do what you do best, and replace Glenn Martin, DDS with a show like...Alf? Actually, I can't picture Alf on N@N, so forget that...

The Caged Girl? (2008 Video)
7/10
A Fun Way to Spend 20 Minutes
18 June 2009
Shawn C. Phillips and M.J. Kelley are two rather well know reviewers on youtube who make comedic reviews of films, sometimes beginning with a parody, under the persona Don and Murph. They have gained a fan base on youtube between "The Don and Murph Show!", Shawn's DVD updates and their Around the Town Vlogs. Finally, they made a short film that they released on DVD, which they made many before, but none released on DVD, but now, onto the review of their first release; The Caged Girl?

It stars Shawn C. Phillips as a young college girl, and M.J. Kelley as an obsessed stalker of the girl. Finally, the stalker kidnaps the girl and forces her to treat him like her boyfriend. From there begins a lot of dark humor and the girl trying to escape. It was fun for me to watch, and pretty funny too. They have it released on Youtube if you feel like being cheap. Shawn and M.J. deserve more recognition since, knowing it was along the lines of a no- budget film, it was pretty good and enjoyable and a fun way to kill about 20 minutes. Some scenes here and there felt a bit slow, and there are some other parts that kept it from a higher rating, but still, I enjoyed it. I honestly think the next one they make (which they announced they're planning on making another soon), they should send it into the Tromadance Film Festival since they accept any film without an entry fee. I honestly cannot wait for their next short film, so be sure to make another soon, Shawn and M.J.! If you guys are reading this, there are only two words that describe how I feel; Great job!

Good Burger (1997)
7/10
We're All Dudes!
30 May 2009
So, this was a childhood favorite of mine. I wasn't an avid watcher of it, I would just rent the VHS every so often. However, it's been about eight or nine or ten years since. While at BJs Megastore, I spotted the DVD for an extremely low price ($3.99), so I decided to buy it. I re- watched it the same night, and now I appreciate it more. Now, the movie's about Dexter, a punk-like kid played by Kenan Thompson, leaving school to start off his summer, with an exciting one planned. Unfortunately, he hits into his teacher's car and he needs to pay off the debt of the damage on the car of his teacher (Sinbad). So, he is employed at a Good Burger, befriends a laid-back and goofy employee, Ed (played by Kel Mitchell), and from there, hilarity ensues. This movie is a lot of fun, believe it or not, and a REALLY fast way to kill an hour- and-a-half. The jokes are actually VERY funny, and some references that work...work! There was even a reference to Lassie, which is one of my favorite jokes in the movie. Their competition, Mondo Burger, are very unlikeable characters, which they were supposed to be, so they achieved at that. If there's anything I didn't like, it's that the scene in the mental institute seemed to drag on a bit too long, although it did establish that Abe Vigoda's character actually had a reason in the movie, not just another side-character. Also, some acting here and there is lackluster, but it doesn't take away from the movie too much. Also, the DVD contains no special features whatsoever. Although some, most rather, dislike it, claim it's a terrible movie, give it a try. It's a lot of fun, and they actually made a short skit on All That extended and not seem too long and drawn out. Give it a try, you might like it, and even if you don't; Hey, it was cheap!

iCarly (2007–2012)
1/10
Very, Very Poor Television Show
8 May 2009
First of all, I'd like to say I am a teenager so this is all marketed towards me, and I can safely say that iCarly very poor programing, and the fact that it's accepted among both genders baffles me. It contains some of the worst attempts at comedy I've ever witnessed with mediocre acting to boot. The supposed humor within the show is all based on saying someone's lines again with poor sarcasm, poor sarcasm, saying bad one-liners, and, well, you get the picture. Also, I should mention that I do still watch Spongebob, which I know I'll get a negative backlash for, but that's quality programming with some honestly funny moments in it, less we forget something iCarly's missing; WIT. The show's about a young girl, Carly, putting on a web-show with her friends, which I can say is without a doubt a nicer version of the internet. That's fine, but the show's just...well, not funny at all, as previously stated. If this is what children's programming has come to today, parents, show them something that's ACTUALLY funny; Spongebob or Rocco's Modern Life would work.

Also, compared to it's brothering show, Drake & Josh, it's terrible, which was implied. Seriously, please watch something worthwhile. Even for a children's show it's poor.

Moral Orel (2005–2009)
10/10
Amazing.
29 April 2009
Moral Orel, created by Dino Stamatopoulos, is my favorite television show of all time. The show depicts (at least in the first season) young Orel Puppington growing up in Moralton trying to be a good protestant by sticking to the moral code and lost commandments, unfortunately screwing it up in the process, only to be corrected (in his study with belt in hand) by his supposedly good father figure and father, Clay. In the later seasons, though, it turned much, much darker, focusing on the dramatically repressed citizens of Moralton. In the final season, however, they abandoned the brighter episodes to much more depressing story lines (did I mention this is all done, very well I might add, in stop-motion animation?).

The show has ended, much to Moral Orel fan's dismay, but it was a pretty bad decision. Moral Orel was VERY well written and funny throughout, less we forget dramatic, offensive and blasphemous. Let me warn those of you whom are offended by parody of religion, TURN BACK NOW. This show parodies religion every episode somehow, whether subtle or blatant. For those of us who can take a joke, Moral Orel is over, but Orel shall forevermore live within our hearts knowing the ending. He was canceled before his time, yes, but we have 43 episodes of amazingly done animation. This show is nothing like anything else on Adult Swim, since it contains very few vulgar words (nothing needed to be censored), it's overall style is comparable to Davey and Goliath. Watch it and enjoy one of the best achievements in American television in only eleven minutes.

Xavier: Renegade Angel (2007–2009)
9/10
"Mom Spelt Backwards is Wow..."
22 April 2009
Xavier: Renegade Angel is the apocalypse of randomness. This show is about the strange-looking...person(?) who is trying to find out his origins-His father's killer, is mother whom abandoned him, and whoever else in the next season. I Think. This show makes NO sense, so if you try to follow it...you'll stop breathing because your lungs would've already busted out and your brain will be virtually non-existent since it would've been burnt out in the war of your mind...kind of. This show features humor familiar to Wonder Showzen, since it IS pretty edgy (although not as racy as Wonder Showzen in my opinion), but surly crazier (and THAT'S saying something). Xavier (portrayed by Jim Tozzi, who also played Him on WS) is of himself 'deep' and complicated and there could've just been a show about his ramblings and philosophy. It would've been awesome. Vernon Chatman and John Lee have created what seems to be a cult classic, a show where you can say "Yeah, I watch Xavier, but you shouldn't. You'll hate it." Kudos to you guys of PF/F/FR for creating another designated audience show.

Try it out if you liked Wonder Showzen, (to some extent) Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, and other shows with VERY awry and eccentric views of life, and seem to create philosophy of nonsense. You'll be quoting this for weeks...IF you're not brainwashed by Xavier's powers of philosophical awesomeness.

9/10. Worthwhile for a weekly viewing. Next season.

A 2-D Review
18 April 2009
So, I saw Monsters Vs. Aliens not too long ago, and I can sat that I would've loved this movie more if I saw it in 3-D. It's not as if 3-D makes the movie, it just makes it better. However, since I saw it without 3-D, I was able to realize any cheesy and obvious pop-out effects, and there were only two effects like that. Seeing it in 2-D was fine though. This movie involves aliens invading Earth, and the government calls on a group of monsters to take care of them...I guess. Well, the plot doesn't really matter. I throughly enjoyed this movie, but little things annoyed me. First of all, there were a bit too many obvious references being jammed down your throat. Also, some jokes are bland and just...fail. However, some jokes are really cleaver and funny, and I think that kids will enjoy the...pretty colors and the adults will appreciate the humor. However, If you ARE an adult without children wanting to see this movie, do yourself a favor and wait until it's on DVD, unless it's in 3-D in your theater.

One final thought, this movie is comparable to Kung-Fu Panda, but in my opinion, Kung-Fu Panda is much better.

Very Underrated
19 March 2009
For those of you who hated this movie, let me ask you this; Why? Because you don't find it funny? You don't like Glen? Find the plot weak? Well, there's a reason why I like this film; Watch this movie with a buddy, and enjoy the gore, mayhem, and humor. I watched it first alone, and I said to myself, "Well, it was alright." A week later, I watched it again with a friend, and it seemed like a different movie. Definitely, one of the funniest scenes was the infamous "Glen or Glenda?" scene about 10-20 minutes in. Chucky and Tiffany try to figure out the gender of Glen/Glenda, when they realize, he has no...let's say, specifications. Overall, watch the movie with an open mind, a friend, and with a lust for Chucky and gore.

Zombies Can Be Funny? WHAT?
19 March 2009
I was very surprised by how much I loved this movie. Throughout the past few years, every once in a while, something by Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright, and Nick Frost (others including Spaced and Hot Fuzz, which I will see very soon) caught my attention, but never enough to make me buy it. Since I saw it for a very low price, I took a chance I'll never regret. This movie was a terribly fun homage to zombie flicks (mainly the Romero trilogy) and horror films in general mixing in a very unique brand of comedy only these people could make. This movie easily takes a twist from a horror/comedy, to a drama/horror, and back to a comedy (less of a horror). This may sound like a very harmless horror flick, but some violence gets very graphic, one of which is a homage to both Dawn and Day of the Dead. Overall, watch this movie, for it's a LOT of fun.

Awkward Humor that Works
8 February 2009
"Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!", or simply "Tim and Eric", is a show packed with a unique sense of humor in which a lot of people wont get/like. The humor is pretty awkward and sometimes immature, but it works for the show. Don't expect a lot from this show, just expect a silly, bizarre, random, and overall strange sketch comedy show. The reoccurring characters/actors in Tim and Eric include the Only Married News Team in L.A., Jan and Wayne Skylar (carried over from their previous show "Tom Goes to the Mayor"), the man of 12+ impressions James Quall, the puppeteer/musician David Liebe Hart and my personal favorite, Casey Tatum of Uncle Muscle's Hour Wrap up, all of which add something else to the show. I'm very exited to see more from these two from the 4th season primer tonight!

Wonder Showzen (2005–2007)

Delightfully Devious!
31 January 2009
Wonder Showzen, the brainchild of PFFR (Vernon Chatman and John Lee), is THE most offensive thing I've ever seen, and I've seen every episode of South Park! It's so obscure, that you can't help but laugh. It's pretty shocking what these kids say, but that's what gave it the extra zest! Wonder Showzen is considered legendary for it's use of children (for example, in the intro, they have a picture of a crying child on Santa's lap) and it's use of obscure stock footage (for example, the have footage of a fox deteriorating) all used in a creative and dark way. The main amount of the show was amazing and clever, but there are two episodes in particular that are just not sub-par with Wonder Showzen, Mathmatics and Clarence's Special Report, but besides that, the show is pure genius.

There are only two shows I've enjoyed from MTV, Beavis and Butthead and This. Such a show like this must be experienced...unless you're easily offended.
