Teen Maar (2011)
If you have seen the Hindi version (Love aaj kal), you can give this a skip!
Why its a No! 1. Trisha is just not cool enough to pull off Meera's role! The grace, grandeur the role needed, is lacking! Mr. Jayanth - why didn't you think of Ileana? Date problems, may be ? :) 2. Pawan kalyan's Italian - I mean, WHAT WAS THAT? Was that Italian, Spanish, English? Hmmm.. something to ponder upon! And for some reason, this actually turns Trisha on (apparently!) 3. Chef - really? A chef who doesn't cook, who cannot flirt, who instead of serving his customers - eats! Chef, Really ??? May be ...... photographer? 4. Kriti's excessive make up - If you were looking at launching a fresh face, choose one who is already beautiful! Not just bring someone out of the blue, put oodles on make up on her and thrust her on our faces. 5. Sonu Sood - This chap who gave stellar performance as Pasupathi in Arundhati and Chedi Singh in Dabangg - was totally underplayed in this one! Director saab - learn to use your resources well!
And .. Why its a yes! 1. I have to admit, I loved Pawan's designer label collection in the movie. Just one piece of advise - Please act your age, if you cant pull off acting 10 years younger. 2. Trivikram's magic - "Salim Anarkali, Laila majnu laanti great lovers avvalante, chaavakkarledu Meera!" This dialogue was enough for the audiences to fill the theatre with whistles! 3. Pawan's power punch dialogues in the Varanasi story - Everything suited him in that role - his dressing, attitude, dialogue delivery and his screen presence! 10/10 to Pawan for doing justice to at least 50% of the movie 4. Songs - Mani Sharma's magic moments kept the movie going. 5. Story - Imtiaz Ali who wrote the original story is a genius - Pawan and Jayant have given 100% story credit to Imtiaz though they have changed the screenplay and execution!
All in all, go watch it for Pawan and you wont be totally disappointed!
Dum Maaro Dum (2011)
Watch it once, remember it never! :-)
10. Prateik Babbar's squeaky voice was such a turn off. Kya kar rahan hai yaar? Mard ban! Be a man!!! 9. Inappropriate entry of the song "Thayn Thayn" - I mean you are a serious cop trying to kill the drug lords! The song, the timing is totally inappropriate - the attitude however was the only solace! 8. Ill make your career, if you be my carrier - Such a clichéd line - especially if used more than once in the lifetime of a movie. 7. Rana - Too tall to be a musician (notice him singing into the mike, so awkward), has so little dialogues that he must have finished his dubbing in less than 30 minutes. Wasted talent! 6. Susegad, Susegad, Susegad - By the end of the movie, you almost hate that really cool sounding word merely by over-usage. 5. Weird sounding names - From Lorry to Joki - From Lorsa Biscuita to Michael Barbosa - the series of really weird sounding names not only confuse you - but make you think - What is Rohan Sippy thinking? 4. The screeplay was like an ill-fitted suit. Failed to make connection with any of the important characters, except, may be the ACP himself. 3. Pace - You CANNOT have Sunidhi singing "Te Amo", moments before the person she is lending her voice to - is gonna be killed! Its such a sin! Every movie-goer knows, if the hero/heroine gets happy and sings a song (at an inappropriate time or place), something is definitely gonna go wrong in the next scene! Move away from the cliché.... Please! 2. Title track - Now you HAVE to agree with me that the title track was such a let down. You got drugs, deepika and the devilishly short skirt of hers - but none of this could add any quotient to the much-hyped title track. 1. The climax - Unveiling the mystery of Michael Barbosa was probably the most awaited, intriguing and THE MOST let-down moment of the entire movie! It was a Brilliant idea executed so poorly!
I'm not saying that DMD didn't work for me! Compared to the movies I have seen in the recent times, this one ensured I didn't yawn, Tweet or SMS during the movie! And that Mr. Rohan Sippy is an achievement in itself :)
