The Expanse (2015)
Mix of Mass Effect, Blade Runner, Alien and GoT
The Expanse has created an universe that has the best elements of my favorite sci-fi TV shows, movies and games. The story is set in a distant future, but not to distant to feel unreal or fantastical. This is very imaginable story of human kind, and that is the strongest point of the show. Stories behind this future and every character is something that can be understood and related to. Script is fantastic, all actors fit in great (maybe 1 or 2 could do better but no big deal), dialogs are natural and very well written. However I'm not happy with CGI, mostly i mean the ships and space combat... It feels little outdated and not with latest standards. But the sets are outstanding on the other hand. Interiors, costumes, ships and stations all have perfect look & feel and greatly contribute to the story. I would especially commend Ceres with its Blade Runner vibe. The level of production, writing and acting shows that this is the first real sci-fi series that premiered in years. God job, just keep at it!
Unbreakable (2000)
Would have been much better without the ending twist
This is a fine paced movie, really involving as the time passes. The cast is excellent and Bruce Willis plays one of his slower rolls and deliveries a good performance. The main thing that bothers me is the so called 'twist' in the end. American movies and public have become obsessed with that sudden plot twists and stories inside stories. And the more of those, the better the movie is gonna pass with the audience, no matter one's quality. That's why those Saw movies for example are so popular, although they are pretty average.
I think for this one the main story was sufficient to carry out the movie, as the script was already intriguing with enough twists. But overall it's probably one of the better 'superhero' movies around.
Tilva Ros (2010)
Small story, great acting
The best thing about this movie is that all the actors are real people, from a real city and their personal life stories to tell. Don't expect some complicated plot, its a story about 19y old kids living, driving skateboard and doing nothing meaningful in a former communist planned copper mine city, witch now slowly decays. The cinematography is beautiful, giving the movie a distinct flavor that i liked very much. Acting is excellent and realistic, much better than that of many Serbian 'real' actors, with a big dose of humor as well. Overall its a universal movie about today's youth and their problems growing up that everyone will understand.
