Better Call Saul: Fall (2017)
Season 3, Episode 9

Where's the MONEY.
1 September 2022
The episode has great moments as the whole series but there's a MAJOR plot hole; Mesa Verde is paying a whole lot of money for the expansion and the lawyer (Kim) is working alone with a receptionist (?) It's obvious that when she landed the contract she had to hire help, not only the failed paralegal search, but real lawyers. Unless Mesa Verde is paying her with monopoly money, the external legal advisor of a bank is getting a lot of dough for the consultation. Where is it? Poor Kim almost kills herself working her ass off, for what pennys? And Jimmy, he couldn't afford a new car after all his work? But he can afford the whole Bingo paraphernalia. (?) So again... Where's the money?

Very good movie!!
16 September 2019
Just saw this movie at my local cinema, I seriously liked it. Great slow-paced script, good direction and incredible acting. The only set back is the editing, some long needles shots that disconnect emotions of the viewers. It's very noticeable that there are real victims of the Colombian violence acting, love that heart-warming touch. Recommended!

Powerful story, cringe production
11 October 2018
The extremely low budget it's the biggest setback of this movie. The story tells the story of Amparo and his "husband" the Animal, doing so it shows a whole circle of human behavior, from the childish naive young girl, to the despicable sexual predator, passing by the permittivity of some families and the code of silence in the poorest communities with the complicity of the total absence of the state of law and the cruel living conditions in the outskirts of Medellin, Colombia.

With a film industry lacking of good strong story's but full of remakes, CGI and big explosions, this kind of movies are a breath of fresh air. Sadly Victor Gaviria is too stubborn and vindicate his style by perpetuating the extreme "humble" production as a realism dogma. It's true that the veracity of the story is lever up by filming on location. But there are plenty of examples of great filmmaking doing the same thing with much better production, the best example would be Fernando Meirelle's Cidade de Deus (2002) aka "City of God". To sum it up: Humble production it's not equal to more realism.

Still is a good movie, but maybe not for the typical audience.

waste of time!!
20 October 2017
What a waste of time. Spare yourself this is junk. Awful. Yuck. Bad from top to bottom words fail to express how weak this was. Now it may be great for some folks but it was just not my cup of tea. I couldn't get into it and even though I left it playing I found it would not keep me interested the story was not presented in a way that worked for me.

Reviews and rating are bias!!!! Is there some screening test for this junk-flicks, can someone please explain me how this movies got green light!!!

Anachronic!
15 October 2017
If this movie was made in the early 2000 when you didn't have internet anywhere but your desktop and didn't it will be a hit, or at least it will go better with the critics and the box office, but it didn't. It has "sparks" or "glimpses" of the first American Pie humor, mostly because some sort of remembrance gets into your head when you see Jason Biggs as a lead, but it fails in deliver what is supposed, believing that a young American professional (architect) adult, married, expecting his firstborn knows NOTHING of bondage, prostitutes, bachelor parties and it's in a general picture an absurdly naive "whiteboy" in an internet era doesn't fall for it at all. The whole movie runs on the premises that people don't "google" everything they don't know. Is not the worst movie if you pretend this was made right after the American Pie (original) movie and not in 2016.

HORRIBLE, Don't WASTE You're TIME
26 September 2014
ABSOLTELY HORRIBLE!

One of the worst movies I ever watched!

-Poor and ridiculous acting -Ludacris script -Unbelievable scenes -Just plain dumb situations... they even try hard to emulate The Three Stooges sort of situations.

I cannot believe that this movie was actually shown!!!!! Well its Latin America, and here, unbelievable things happens on daily basis, like a 5.8 rating on IMDb for this...THING...not even a movie can be called.

I'm ABSOLUTELY sure, that 95% of the good rating are from people related to this movie! Either actors, producers, crew or... their families and friends…

Nothing it's going to return me the wasted time that I spend watching this thing

BTW, I'm sure that after this review is posted the same people mention before will rate down this review...

que vergüenza DE película!

What a disappointment! Such a waste of buildup tension!
23 September 2014
This movie could have been really good, but is not! It's incredible how all the tension build during the first half of the movie it's lost during the other half… it's like if the Director and the writers got lazy and rush the finale. The actors made a good effort to keep up with the movie, but it's just horrible how all the introduction of the main character Dr. Tom Buckley (Murphy) goes from an intelligent, clever and motivated assistant professor to the Dumb##$$ ludicrous, naive person of the finale, it's just not coherent,. SUCH A SHAME! Absolutely ridiculous! Sigourney Weaver makes also a good effort. All and all, I think it's not worth to watch it even in a dull Sunday afternoon. 3 out of 10

Nice try!
12 August 2011
I didn't know what to expect before I went to the cinema today, usually Colombian movies are all about the same old story's (drugs, guerrilla, rich/poor struggle and love triangles) It's also normal for me as a Colombian to expect lack of decent technical performance due to low budget editing, poor sound, horrible make up /costume and terrible cinematographic "ambientation", this as I said before is the usual.

The prologue and the first minutes when the script talks about the "justice and peace" law that my country has been trying to initiate make me really eager to know how this will be approached.

As the minutes pass by, this movie tries to leave behind all the stereotypes that I early described, but it swings and fails BADLY… strike one!

First thing you might want to know, is that this movie has the financial support of "Caracol" a large company in Colombia that has enough resources to produce a film with a high budget, of course for a Latin-American film not comparable with Hollywood.

Even though this movie has all the intention to get outside the label of the "Colombian" movies by putting money into better technical specs and by investing in a superior cinematography environment has major "flow bumps" by trying too hard to get outside this "usual" box.

Dialogues are ambivalent either to be truthful or to be understandable, that tells us that filmmakers thought about selling it to others Hispanic country's that might not buy the whole stereotypical Colombian slang that most movies from my country use.

Visually I've got to admit that its better than most of its type, but its unable to reach the benchmark that the "new wave" of Latin movies had established such as "The Secret in Their Eyes" "City of God" or "Pan's Labyrinth". Visual effects are absurd and ridiculous! Sound effects also fails miserable and takes you out of context so quick that I catch myself looking at my watch twice in less than a minute, Strike two!! The storyline won't capture the audience and all attempts to create tension or the emotional stress of either the drama or the action scenes are a sad joke. Strike out!!!

I'm really sorry that this movie sucked so badly. This is the result of investing lots of money in everything but a really good screenwriter and a decent education in film school.

The main story if developed properly, could be a success but the ambition and the pretentious form that the filmmakers approached it is a great disappoint.

My humble advice: Don't waste your money on this one.

(sep/2014)It's very funny but I just checked my review after years of posting it (I forgot all about it) and it says that about 20+ did not found it useful, it's probably the same 20+ that found useful the absurd extra positive review, and investigating that author, one can tell that it's people related to the movie! what a joke, if you have to like your own movie cause nobody else did it, it because you're movie STINKS, in Spanish: ESTA PELICULA DA ASCO!
