Down with Love (2003)
Expected More
The costumes were wonderful, the music was more than great, but the movie just didn't do it for me. I think in keeping with the times, the screenwriters wrote the script the way it would have been written in the 50s/60s. This type of script that contains giddy remarks and carefully planned out situations doesn't sit well with todays modern audiences. I felt like they were trying to take real- life situations and turn them fake. There are a lot of cheap sex jokes as well, which might produce a chuckle or two, but beyond that its more cheesy than pleasing. Renee and Ewan are great actors, but the script just didn't live up to make the movie better than mediocre. There are numerous unexplained plot holes as well. See it solely for the beautiful fashion and the classic music. Don't expect anything from this film, because you will be disapointed.
Young Americans (2000)
I wish they had kept this one
This was such a great show on the WB. The intricate and fun story script and the excellent acting made the show worth keeping. I watched this show from beginning to end. 10 times better than any Dawson's Creek drama. Too bad they didn't continue...I would have definitely watched.
The Birdcage (1996)
Funny Stuff
This movie is a really good comedy. Personally, I think the best actor in this movie is Hank Azaria, as he perfectly executes the roll of the gay maid to Robin Williams and Nathan Lane ( the gay couple) The movie's setting is perfect, Miami, This type of movie couldn't work in any other setting. Rent this if you're looking for a night of laughs! 7/10
Liberty Heights (1999)
Classic
Liberty heights is a great movie, full of laughter. It gives you a sense of history, as well as providing for a good, well rounded film. The acting is good, the script is well read, and the depiction of events is carried out in a unique fashion. ( Warning, almost spoiler) One of my favorite scenes is where Ben ( mind you , he's Jewish) dresses up as Hitler on Halloween! I highly recommend this movie! P.S - and to the above comment by TxMike, Im well under 50 and I understood and appreciated this film very much. Don't assume that the older you are, the more you'll understand. Im 17, for your information.
9/10 (Liberty Heights)
