Man in the Mirror: The Michael Jackson Story (2004)
If you expect to see another "The Jacksons: An American Dream" you will be sorely disappointed
I'm not one who would regularly give a negative review of a movie, even I have liked movies that others have blasted. However, I have to make a huge exception here:
First of all, there was no Michael Jackson music throughout the movie. And every scene was more like a sequence that lack depth, and the movie didn't tell us anything we didn't already know.
If you expected to see a sequel of "Jacksons: An American Family" you will be sorely disappointed, as this movie isn't nearly as deep.
Personally, I will rate a ** out of *****. (And I think I'm being generous).
The Executioner's Song (1982)
Tommy Lee Jones in the role of Gary Gilmore
I first saw The Executioner's Song on a premium cable channel sometime in the mid-80s, and I loved the story which is close to what I remembered from less than a decade earlier when news of Gary Gilmore's pending execution and his fight for his sentence to go through, and I watch this movie every time I have a chance. Also I love Tommy Lee Jones in ever role he has ever played, as he is an excellent actor.
I have one peeve, however. The real Gary Gilmore (at least according to the photographs and the footage I ever saw of him), had medium brown hair and very bright blue eyes. I think that a different actor should have played him at least to be true to how he really looked like.
I could think of actors, such as Robert Redford, Harrison Ford, Jeff or Beau Bridges or (right at the top of my head) could have been actors that could have done just as much of a superb job as Tommy Lee Jones did, as they also did have the brown hair and the blue eyes, while Tommy Lee Jones had dark hair and brown eyes.
Other than that, the movie was great that I seldom miss a chance when it airs on TV.
Dallas (1978)
Dallas on SoapNet starting in September 2003
For those of you who are wondering if Dallas will ever be back on the air, it has been announced that SoapNet will carry the series starting sometime in September. Soap Net can be found in many cable and satelite systems. I personally can't wait to start watching it again.
Coal Miner's Daughter (1980)
I agree with all the previous comments...
...this is an excellent movie and every time it is on TV or cable, I do watch it, and have been doing so several times a year since it was released. However, there is one sticking point very few people have realized, and it took me over 20 years to do so myself:
In the movie, the last time Loretta and Patsy Cline are together, Loretta tells her she's pregnant again, supposedly a week before Patsy Cline dies on March 5, 1963. Loretta's twin daughters are born on August 6, 1964
If the above is true, Loretta Lynn should be famous not as a country singer, but as the first woman who has given birth after a SEVENTEEN MONTH'S PREGNANCY!!!
Either the daughters are a year older than posted, or that part of the movie is fictitious.
I love biographical movies, and I wish they were more truthful than they are and while this movie is closer to the truth, I was really disappointed to come across this discrepancy.
