Dear White People (2017)
Give this show a chance. I'm white, I generally do not agree with the whole "SJW" ideology, and I LOVE this show
I'll start this review off by saying that I am NOT an SJW, nor do I necessarily agree with all of their views. I am, however, a liberal who believes that every single person on this earth deserves to be treated equally, and that racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. are awful. This show is just simply not what people are accusing it of being, which is racist against white people. I fully believe that racism against white people is just simply that: racism. However, this is not racism. Yes, it pokes fun at white people who think they are "woke" and the ones who don't think there is a problem whatsoever. But they also poke fun at the super radical BLM people and the black people who "hate" white people as well. It kind of just pokes fun at every group. Literally every main and supporting character possesses both good and bad qualities. It honestly shows how both sides react, and it often highlights how white people, who are genuinely not racist, feel confused about how to react or how to be PC in a way that doesn't feel like we are being accused of racism all the time. It also sheds light on very real issues, such as racial profiling in policing, gun violence, etc. that black people face every day. It is informative, and speaks about issues in a lighthearted manner, never, however, glossing over them. It can be very serious in a lighthearted kind of way and addresses issues from every side of the issue. It pokes fun at millennials in a way very similar to Kimmy Schmidt or Broad City, as well! Give this show a chance. You will not be disappointed.
Cake Boss (2009)
Okay show but the main guy should SHUT UP
This show is pretty good, the cakes are very creative and I usually end up wanting one of them at my parties, but CARLO or whatever the main characters' name is should SHUT THE HECK UP. He says "awesome" way too much in his annoying accent and honestly, he is a JERK. he yells at his employees, who, surprisingly, allow him to! this is ridiculous and wrong, considering that they are a lot nicer and less annoying than him. He is just mean and EXTREMELY self-centered. I get annoyed just listening to this guy. I absolutely hate him. But, otherwise, this show is very interesting. The cakes all look delicious, they are pretty and lovely, and much of the show actually shows the making of the cake.
Jennifer's Body (2009)
WAY too funny to be a horror movie
This was a terrible movie...Diablo Cody, what were you thinking? Juno was a beautiful, funny movie with a wonderful story and message and this was just...bad. Jennifer's Body should not have been listed under "Horror," rather, it should have been listed under "Comedy." Some parts of this film were just laugh out loud HILARIOUS. And adding a lesbian make-out scene just took away from the plot line...It had nothing to do with the story. Also, when they picked a "virgin" for their sacrifice, what impelled them to choose the SLUTTIEST looking girl in that bar?! I mean, I know they chose her because she was going to be the easiest to lure into the van, but come on, she wasn't the only girl who had a crush on the lead singer most likely. I just thought this movie was bad altogether. Sorry, Diablo, next time, make it more like Juno!
12 Angry Men (1957)
school play...awesome! I'm excited...
we are doing this play in my high school for our fall play, but instead of Twelve Angry Men, it will be Twelve Angry Jurors, so that women can have parts. I think that this will be a really awesome play. i have seen the movie and loved it, and i have also read the actual script of the play. It is excellent and on a very high level for high school though our school always does AMAZING but challenging musicals and plays. am i the only one who thinks that we'll do a good job..? last year we did The House of Blue Leaves, a very challenging yet wonderful play, and the year before we did You Have the Right to Remain Dead. In the current play this year, i will be playing juror #8. i auditioned for this part. i think this is ONE of the best black and white movies i've seen, and i'm 14 years old!
