Low IQ movie making!
26 July 2021
Vdry bad movie. Obsession with megastar without focus on script or logic. Abandoned in middle, avoid it.

Highly boring, what's the hype!
10 April 2021
Watched it attracted by the actor who has a good body of work behind him. Ideally we should have stopped it after 20 mins. Not wasting further time writing a longer review. The film is a wasted opportunity.

Good watch. Not as hyped.

It's a good series, very well made. But not out of this world. It has its shortcomings (out of time costume of women esp Sucheta's is an example). We've seen 3 episodes yet. And the lead guy is just an ok actor, ignore the hype.

Bad. Gives headache. Hyped!
19 November 2020
We didn't finish it, rather couldn't. One hour of headache was enough. Wasted effort of a talented cast, director.

Hyped!

First half is good, then very weird ending. Sort of dishonest towards viewers.

David Suchet disappoints! Faulty entertainment.
16 August 2020
I read the whole book in 8-9 hours before it was released on yle areena two days ago. I'm disappointed with the film. It is badly different from the book. Poirot touching beads, god invocation, Poirot tantrum in the end and other such scenes are nonsense. Paradoxically, Suchet, also a producer here, claims in an unrelated interview to show Poirot as depicted in the novels.

I have enjoyed other Suchet Poirot thoroughly. But then I have not read other Christie books.

Never mind. My wife enjoyed it. So will you too.

Very enjoyable

Nice set up, very enjoyable. Unlike other episodes, this one is straightforward. I've not read the book, please note.

Avoidable.
15 June 2020
Half-hearted work. First five minutes needed a voice over narration, you don't know if Amitabh is discarding bulbs or stealing them. Age of wife is probably varying (15 years gap with hero, then 17 if I recall correctly), nobody paid enough attention. No rasa most of the time. Women characters are better.

Good, engaging.

Saw it on Yle today. Good film, entertaining, good acting, period feel, very well shot, emotionally engaging. (Wife's only complaint was that girl's hair was untied throughout the film which was odd.)

Saw it with wife on Yle app yesterday. Enjoyed it. Comedy, humour, emotions aplenty.

Boring, bad film making. Despite the exciting premise.
4 May 2020
This is a good example of dull film-making on a good subject. I and my wife got so bored that we stopped it after the interval on Prime Video today. They had a good theme to build a movie. But the scenes, dialogues all look disjointed. 600+ reviews here must be of those excited by the theme (because India/South Asia is highly patriarchal) and of those offended by it.

Bad script, bad Ayushman
30 April 2020
Weird storyline (cauliflower, curfew), easy way out, Wikipedia type explanations for a sensitive issue, overacting by Ayushman are some reasons the film is a letdown. It looks like everyone was in a hurry and overconfident.

It's a good movie. But nothing so great. LOBBYING SHOULD BE BANNED in any film award process for impartial decisions.

Starters well, then goes downhill!
5 April 2020
First hour or so is very good, refreshing. Then it goes down as the story goes back as clichéd images, action plays out. Still, a good watch.

A cult classic in the making
10 December 2019
This will go on to become a cult classic in due course of time. That it flopped in cinema halls does not matter. If only the director was more focussed the film would have been better.

Unequal India needs such films. Saw it in theatre yesterday and will watch it again. Watch and send others to watch it.

We saw it in Delhi today, at the EU film festival. This is a gem, please note. Very well made, well acted with a mix of emotions, comedy, history (based on true events).

I and my wife enjoyed it thoroughly. Particularly wife is conversant with troll myths and she enjoyed it even more than me for the obvious reason. Troll depiction, graphics are very well done.

Feels like a half-hearted attempt
24 June 2019
The film is good but it feels a bit shallow as clearly they have not delved deep and not covered details fully. It feels a bit sketchy. Still a good one-time watch.

Finished all episodes within 10 hours.
21 June 2019
Watched it back to back yesterday evening on Prime Video , only interrupting it to wash dishes and cook. This is the first time a Series kept me so engaged.

It has minor drawbacks like some sex scenes which look forced. Else it an attention grabbing political thriller about international politics, security situation (and American hegemony).

Wonderful film, a must see. We had seen it in theatre upon release. Films like this (and its makers) need to be encouraged.
