Mega Snake (2007)
Greatly disappointed
I was really looking forward to seeing the Feedback movie and I can only say I pray this was not it, that this was just a teaser. I give kudos to Matthew Atherton for doing this, at least it shows he has principles as a person.
The Character Les is so pathetic who would blame Erin for running to anyone else, but really, to the jerk who is the sheriff? Was it just me or did he seem to base that character on some of the characters played by Bruce Campbell? Maybe it was just the resemblance of the two actors. Most of the male actors are just plain bad, unrealistic, like they are uninterested to be making a movie (of any caliber.) Most of the male characters seem to have vision which does not extend more then about 6 inches in front them.
If it hadn't of been for the fact that I really liked the Feedback character and the ability of Matthew to portray him I wouldn't have watched past the 1st break, but I really wanted to see what they would do with Feedback.
*spoiler kinda* (Better safe then sorry, though you might be more sorry if you watch the show.)

4. The dialog was flip floppy, first Erin comes up with the theory she thinks its a snake, then her pseudo boyfriend the sheriff shows up and suddenly its the ex-boyfriend (Les's) idea. And unless the sheriff lets him out of jail more people are going to die. (Can I have some butter for the corn? Please?) I think they could have saved money on the special effects of making brains exploding out of someone's head and biting the 40 some odd heads off of the people riding the thrill rides and put it towards Feedback's special effects, I mean come on. Why couldn't they have had the 'main' characters meet up with Feedback as he was helping people escape and told him how it was suppose to be killed and let him save the day? Isn't that how things happen with superheroes? If they don't know how to defeat an enemy the first thing they do is evacuate the innocent by-standers and then meet up with the 'scientist' that tells them how they might be able to defeat the enemy.
I think the writer(s) mom(s) should beat them for writing characters who have less regard for their elderly mother then a kid with a magnifying glass has for the ant on a sunny day.
Really, just a plain bad movie even for Sci-fi...It gets my vote for the worst movie Sci-fi has made.
The First Gentleman (1999)
A new twist to a "cop" show.
I was priviledged to watch a screening for this show at a rating survey called something like Studio Preview. You go for about 2 hours, and you get to watch usually 2-4 possible tv shows and several commercials, and then you vote on them how much you liked them. The First Gentleman is what it sounds like. It is about the life happenings of the husband to the first woman President. He also is an ex-cop either Chicago or NYC. Its been some time since I saw it, so the details are not as sharp as they could be. My wife and I both highly enjoyed it, and were really hoping it would become a full series. I would say watch it, but it doesn't look like it will be anywhere for people to see.
Star Trek: Nemesis (2002)
A resounding 2-thumbs up!
The long awaited movie has landed in Indy and I was among the first to watch. My brother and wives joined us, but that didn't hurt anything, and was kinda nice at times! I've read some of the other comments on the movie, and some of the things I agree with, but over all, I have to recommend the movie! Certainly worth going to see! As far as a movie it rates 4.5 stars out of 5. It's kind of hard to really say much without giving away anything about the show, but needless to say, this movie was the best of the Next Generation Team, though I'm torn with First Contact. Generations was like a 2 hour episode, First Contact was a "real" movie, and Insurrection was good, just not as good. The special effects where nothing less then spectacular, and tastefully done. Anyone reading a negative review of this movie is highly encouraged to ignore it and see the show. While I have a few issues with the "technical" aspects which I will detail below, they do not take anything away from the movie, so go and watch and enjoy!!!
***** S P O I L E R *****
At first I was a bit disappointed that neither Wesley or Guinan(sp?) had much of a part, and I really didn't like it that Janeway's part was just about 10 seconds of talk. Several aspects I didn't like was that Data at times seemed not to have his emotion chip and was the android he was almost back at Encounter at Farpoint, and others he did. Part of First Contact's charm was Data switching it on and off. The other aspect was Geordi's eyes. Now while it was mentioned in Insurrection they didn't know if it would last, it only makes sense that once the eyes had regenerated they would not have "died". So seeing him with his bionic eyes was a bit strange. As one person had mentioned how the heck did the villian get the "predator" as Picard calls it was a little on the thin side, but it could very well be a proto-type ship which the Romulans had made and once the villian got control of the Empire he got the ship. The ship was by far way more powerful, and in any true match up would have taken any other ship, or possibly a fleet of ship down with it in any true fight. It couldn't quite fire cloaked, but only a small, short distoration was visable whenever it fired or was hit. I think the biggest disappointment was Data's death. I really thought they would use a previous ploy from the series and recover Data's head and place it on the "dumb" android. I was especially sure something like this would happen when Picard and company gathered in his Ready room and toasted to Data's memory. Geordi, with Picard's back to him, had a smile 12 parsecs wide on his face as Picard talked of their missing comrade, Riker too had a large grin, and Crusher had a small one. I liked the premise of the clone of Picard, and I liked the idea of why he needed Picard, some dismissed this as a lack of knowing the much about the series, but the whole reason Shinzon and the Rimus populace wanted to kill off humanity was that they saw that Earth was the glue which bound the Federation together and without the driving force, they could take over everyone else. Next to Klingon's Humans are the most war like creatures in the Alpha Quadrant, and would have to be wiped out to win. So I can see and understand premise and would not dismiss it. Data deserved a far better ending then what he got, even though Spiner helped write the story. I always wondered why he never tried to create another child. This was obviously an important point to his life and now he has been destroyed, and the "new" android may never live up to his potential. And therein is the next aspect of the movie. Where did Shinzon and his co-hort find this android? The movie is suppose to be the last one, but they left too many openings for something else...My take is, watch for a show to come out based on Riker and Troi onboard the USS Titan.
Resident Evil (2002)
A different movie
3rd day showing, I stood waiting on my brother to go in and watch the movie. An avid fan of the RE:games (well 1 and 2 at least), I had mixed feelings of the movie. Several countless nights in front of my computer playing the game until early in the morning hours, the sound effects of the games were so addicting. They drew you into the game, until finally as the house would cool from the days heat and a pop here or a crack there, and suddenly you were looking around the room wondering if it was possible.
So you can see my position on this, many movies have been made of something that is in another medium, and gone so wrong from it. And usually it is such a big flop that it never recovers. RE the movie could have suffered from the same effect, but in truth I think the movie came out exceptionally well all things considered. The movie was well scripted for the genre, the characters were believable, the special effects were great.
One thing I missed was the audible ambience of the game, to me that made the game. Did it hurt the movie? For the most part no, but would have made it better. While my brother screamed for more bloodshed I found the level of gore to be very acceptable, while the games were much more violent and gore to gag a maggot, I don't see that kind of thing a plus, especially if you want the movie to have a big enough drawing to warrant more movies, and this movie I want more of!
On a scale of 1-10 I give this movie a 9.5 rating. There could be some improvements, but they aren't needed. I believe the movie ended just as it should have, and I am anxiously awaiting the sequel.
